Prove Me Wrong
XXIX

Perseus

I sat in my chair nervously, waiting for the others to show up, although my anxiousness didn't show, thanks for that SHIELD. Loki seemed to sense my mood, connecting our hands under the table. I raised an eyebrow at his attempt to soothe me, but nevertheless intertwined our fingers.

"Percy!" I heard someone's voice shout.

My head whipped for the source. I turned and found a man around my age, okay maybe like a year or so younger than me, waving frantically. There was a group of seven behind him, and a beautiful woman at his side. I hesitantly waved back, unsure how to act.

They made their way towards me. I could only hope that this would go as well as this morning. Besides Reyna and Clarrisse's glares of why didn't you contact us sooner, it was fine. Fun too, I didn't realize how much I missed them, but I also realized how different we've become. I wouldn't be able to go back if I tried. A throat clearing brought my attention to the group of eight again.

They all crowded around the table. The girls tried to give me hugs, but I leaned back warily. I offered them a hand awkwardly to shake. Piper's eyes narrowed, and the next thing I know, I was pulled into a tight hug by the charm speaker herself. Before I could back away, Hazel had wrapped her arms around me too.

"I don't care how manly you are, Jackson." Piper hissed, clutching me tighter,"You're getting a hug from all of us, understood!"

"I missed you guys too." I murmured.

She let go of me, and I saw tears in her eyes. When I looked around, everyone looked excited, but sad. Maybe they missed me more than they cared to tell. I did leave right after the giant war to go to my father's palace. Then I went to finish my last year of high school, and they never heard from me again for years, until this day.

"Who's this?" Frank asked me, sizing up my boyfriend.

I linked our finger together as I sat down again,"Loki, a Norse god—"

"Norse?" Hazel cut me off, confused.

Loki nodded,"I'm from the Norse Pantheon, whereas you're all from the Greek Pantheon."

Nico furrowed his eyebrows,"How'd you two meet? Why's he here? Uh—no offense, Lord Loki."

Loki nudged me smugly, making me roll my eyes,"Don't call him Lord, he'll get an even bigger head for that."

Loki raised his eyebrows mockingly,"You'd rather I have a bigger—"

I slammed my free hand down on his man parts swiftly, cutting him off,"Ignore him. He has a flare for inappropriate uselessness."

The whole table looked at me confusedly, and with a little amusement as the Norse god cradled his crotch silently. The laughter died down quickly when Loki glared at them all. I rolled my eyes, snapping my fingers in their faces to loosen them up.

"He won't do anything to you." I assured them.

"How've you been, Percy?" Jason asked me, still watching Loki cautiously.

I shrugged,"Fine."

"After all this time, all you're going to say is 'fine'?" Calypso's voice was strict as she narrowed her eyes.

Sensing the hostility behind her words, I pursed my lips,"I'd prefer not to go into detail. It's been awhile, and the person I am right now doesn't like to open up immediately."

"What changed?" Leo questioned softly.

I shook my head,"A lot, but mostly me."

"Would you mind sharing?" Will asked me gently,"We haven't seen you in forever, and we want to get to know the new you."

I bit the inside of my lip. It went silent as they realized I was actually contemplating if I should give the knowledge of my life now. None of them said anything, but I could feel the pressure. Before I caved, Loki's fingers grabbed my attention. He was softly rubbing the back of my hand in a soothing way.

I took a deep breath and relaxed,"For the past five years, I've been an Agent of SHIELD. I've been recently assigned a case to work with the avengers. That's where Loki and I met."

Their eyebrows furrowed, Thalia spoke a hint of disbelief in her voice,"The avengers as in, save the world from aliens, avengers?"

"The very ones." Loki confirmed.

They didn't ask anymore questions which made me feel better. I didn't want to share anymore than I had to, it was weird. The conversation had moved on, and I learned so much about their lives that I missed. Jason and Piper already had jobs, and were climbing up the authority chain like monkeys.

I laughed when I heard that Jason was a cop. Jason for justice was just hilarious, but Piper as a detective? Brilliant. She would always know if someone was lying to her because they would confess due to her charm speaking. Jason said she was a few cases away from captain and I was so proud.

Frank and Hazel just graduated high school, and were now going to college in New Rome. A safe environment where they could make their future a reality. I was so excited for them, just yesterday we were being kicked across the Pomeranian Line by Terminus. They were growing up so fast.

Not to mention the little ten-year-old who was now almost through with college! Nico was almost ready to argue for the rights of people, whether they're guilty or not, hopefully the latter. I was surprised when he introduced Will as his boyfriend, I never saw them hanging around each other, but a lot had changed.

As a child of Apollo, it wasn't surprising he was going into medicine. He was went the extra mile and got his masters, now half way to his PhD. Will said he wanted to be a pediatrician, and I had no doubt he wouldn't be a great one. He was so good with kids as I remember, and if he got through to my little cousin, he can get through to everyone.

Calypso and Leo were running a repair shop. I thought it was funny how the son of Hephaestus now owned a shop involving machines. I was surprised Calypso decided to settle with him, but I was happy for them. I understand her anger at me, but she said it was dimming down.

That was good, because being in her presence reminded me of multiple unpleasant things, and her making it worse wouldn't be good. I jerked as Leo accidentally snorted his drink from laughing so hard at something Loki just said.

Nico leaned forward, his eyes glinting in curiosity,"I've got to know, Percy. What are you and Loki?"

Before I could say anything, Loki cut me off,"He's mine."

I blushed as everyone burst into laughter. Jason and a Frank raised their eyebrows in surprise, while Leo wolf whistled. Nico was just studying me, and Will continued to give his boyfriend the I told you so look. The girls glanced at each other knowingly, smirking widely.

"Yours?" Thalia asked dryly.

"We're in a relationship." I clarified, hitting Loki in the chest playfully.

"I didn't know you swung that way." Jason admitted.

I shrugged,"I don't swing any way. I don't do labels, but you might understand it better as pansexual."

Frank snorted,"I never would have guessed, the great Percy Jackson a bottom."

My eyes went wide as I turned red,"W—what? We haven't even done anything yet!"

Hazel waved her finger at me,"Don't deny it. He can smell it, his gifts enhanced his human senses."

"You can't smell that." I argued.

Will chimed in unfazed at all,"He can. It's a wolf, kind of thing. Frank can smell the dominance and submissiveness of a couple. It doesn't mean you're into BDSM though, but that's how he can tell."

"Can we please switch topics." I begged as embarrassment buried me six feet under.

Loki pulled me into his lap,"I like this topic. It's pretty accurate."

I narrowed my eyes, gripping him tightly in a choking hold,"Drop it."

His voice was strained as I caused pain to his lower regions,"I'll prove it to you later."

I raised an eyebrow, unimpressed as I heard the snorts from my friends,"We'll see."

"Can I take you somewhere?" Loki asked me as we were finishing dinner.

I looked around me. Everyone had stopped talking, and eating and were now focused on Loki and I. I furrowed my eyebrows confused, analyzing everyone's reactions. There was tension in the air from the single question, but I didn't understand why.

I wouldn't use the Soul gem because it'd be hypocritical. I don't want anyone in my business, why should I be in theirs. Lady Freya's eyes were studying me intensely, while Odin just stared blankly. I couldn't detect any emotion from Thor and Loki's friends.

Thor who was usually an open book raised an eyebrow at me questionably. He just returned from Earth. Thor was gone for several months as he spent time with his girlfriend, Jane. I liked seeing him this happy, it was refreshing from his blunt loudness and just made me smile.

"Perseus?" Loki's voice questioned me, bringing me back to the question,"Are you going to answer me, or continue Sherlocking Asgard's finest?"

Everyone burst into laughter at Loki's statement. The tension washed away as they remembered BBC's Sherlock season I made them watch. When I realized Loki didn't understand my reference in my introduction, I forced him to watch it. Now that his family and friends were good again, he made them watch it too. Go Asgard connecting with Midgard.

I snorted,"Sure, why not, Watson. I was just curious to why everyone's focusing on us."

Loki gave them a glare, making them turn away and retreat to their previous conversations,"They're intrusive."

I shrugged. Couldn't argue with that. I took my last bite, waiting for Loki to finish as well. When he did, he picked up our plates and carried them to the kitchen. We washed them together quickly, putting them away after they were dried.

Once everything was good, Loki took my hand in his, pulling me along. He matched my pace so we walked next to each other. The air was silent, but comfortable. I'd be fine with this everyday, just walking in silence with my boyfriend.

Wow, my boyfriend. It's been over seven years since we've been together. Many battles, and some wars later, we're still in love and working in a fashionable manner. I knew he had my back, and I knew he knew I had his. Luckily no one has died, although Loki was close to it one time.

I swear I was going to storm into Hel and demand him back if he didn't make it, but Apollo, along with some other Norse saved him. That's when I knew I would forever love him. Probably how he realized the same for me when I died. I still regret not telling him everything, but I was promised things would turn out right if Steve and Wanda did what I told them to.

"Look up, Perseus." Loki whispered.

I did, and I smiled when I saw where we were. In my thinking stage, Loki had managed to transports us to the bridge where we would see Heimdallr at the end. The stars were twinkling beautifully, and the bridge glowed gallantly, showing off its many colors.

I saw the different realms flickering with light. Overall, I was surrounded by the most amazing sight anyone could see. Loki led me until we were about two hundred feet in front of the Bifröst. He knelt down and pointed at a fading crack.

"This is where Thor broke the bridge." Loki sighed sadly,"He chose to save a kingdom he didn't particularly like, sacrificing his chance at ever seeing his beloved again."

I frowned,"That's a sad victory."

Loki nodded solemnly,"I was misguided."

I cupped his face,"We all make mistakes, but they can always be made right if done correctly."

I gently ran my fingers along the crack. It was closed, and on its way to being perfect. Loki's fingers followed mine until they touched. I looked back up, and gently brought his lips into a kiss. When it ended, I stood, ready to keep moving, but Loki stayed down.

I glanced at him confusedly. He adjusted his position until he knelt on one knee. I blinked several times to make sure if this was real. Once my eyes opened the tenth time, Loki was offering me a box that was propped open. Inside was ring, strapped to the bottom of the case, securely.

A strangled gasp left my lips, and tears formed in my eyes. I distinctly heard excited murmurs from the people who were at the dinner table earlier this evening, but I couldn't focus on anything besides the man kneeling in front of me.

I felt my mouth form an "O" shape, and my heart racing to a beat faster than I could follow. The ring glowed, and my vision zoomed in on it. It was a simple gold band with lines of green swirling around it. Two different shades of green, and I recognized them as the color of Loki's and my eye's. The colors danced in harmony as the ring glowed with the power of Loki's love for me.

"This place has been a significant reminder of several heart breaks, not just between people in love, but between people who loved." Loki stated clearly.

"Wh—" I cut myself off, putting my right hand over my mouth, chocking a little.

"I want to give this bridge a new reputation like you've given me." He declared, his eyes staring deeply into mine,"I want to show you that despite the scene around us, I will always, only ever have eyes for you. I want to tell you that I love you with every part of my being."

"O—oh, Loki." I cried, a few tears running down my face.

"I swear on the Norns to forever love you, until death do us part, Perseus." Loki promised sincerely, not even flinching at the incredulous vow he just made,"Will you do me the honor of letting me marry the most beautiful, genuine, amazing person I know?"

I closed my eyes briefly, more tears falling from my eyes. I clutched my fingers more around my mouth to try and stifle the sobs that erupted from my mouth. I gasped, trying to catch my breath long enough to say answer my boyfriend.

Loki continued to kneel in patience, watching me with the most honest eyes I've ever seen. Hope shinning brightly, an eager grin on his lips as he observed my reaction to his proposal. I eventually gave up trying to suppress my emotions like how I usually could as a trained Agent.

I threw myself at him, clinging to his shirt. I grabbed the back of his neck, and smashed my lips into his. Our tongues connected, and I could taste the saltiness of my tears, and I hoped some of it wasn't disgusting snot, because that would ruin the moment even more.

His left hand wrapped around my waist, and I could feel the box digging into it. Loki's right hand tangled itself in my hair. I kissed him passionately, trying to pour in all the love I felt for him. Our teeth clashed persistently as my desperation made me sloppy, but I felt myself getting light headed.

Loki's hand holding on to my hair let go, coming in between us. He gently pushed us apart, and when our lips disconnected, I gasped for air. My lungs heaved as if I were running a marathon. I felt more tears fall from my eyes, coating my cheeks with water.

"Is that a yes?" Loki whispered smartly.

I let out a crazed laugh,"Yes, you dork! A million times yes."

I got pulled into another mind blowing kiss. My breath stolen from my own lungs by Loki. I faintly heard cheers being sounded, but I ignored them all. The only thing that mattered to me right now was Loki. My wonderful fiancé.

"You're being unusually emotion, Perseus." Loki teased playfully, wiping the tears from my face,"Did I do it right?"

More tears poured from my eyes as I cried in happiness,"Shut up, Loki. You just proposed to me in the sweetest way possible, and you ask if you did it right?"

Loki slipped the ring onto my finger, smiling softly,"I'm just making sure."

"I just said yes to making you my husband on top of a fucking rainbow." I deadpanned,"I think you did it right."

Loki laughed heartily,"You know what goes good with rainbows?"

I sighed exhaustedly, snuggling into him,"What?"

"Light." Loki smiled, pushing my hair behind my ear, then bringing it around to cup my face,"Besides the stars, you're the brightest light I see."

"I love you, Loki." I whispered, pulling him closer to me.

"I love you too, Perseus." Loki hummed, cradling me close,"Now and forevermore."
