Chapter 8 - Learning
Demon king?! I stepped back. I knew something was fishy about him! "Wait... You're not here to.."
"I'm not going to kill you." He finished my sentence.
"Then why..."
"The prophecy."
"But doesn't the prophecy say your going to kill me..."
"It doesn't say I'm going to kill you. It says you die in battle. I have nothing against you. In fact I came here to help you." He replied as if it were obvious.
"Help me?" I asked in shock.
"Yeah."
"Why?"
"Let's just say your not famous in the demon world nor the angel. Someone found out that your real and alive and now both worlds are in a riot. They want to kill you."
"Okay. But, why would you want to help me..." I still didn't understand. What did he get in all this?
"Well, it was Casmir's idea." He thought aloud to himself.
"Casmir?"
"Oh. Yeah. Oops, you'll meet him later. He's the king of the angel world. And, you know just because I'm a demon doesn't mean I can't be nice. Maybe I just want to help you because it's a kind thing to do." He defended himself.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you... but, umm, how are you going to help me? I already took sword fighting lessons I think I'm fine." I replied confidently.
"Yeah, those lessons aren't going to do anything. The demons that are coming for you are way more advanced than that class will ever be, I think you should let me help you with fighting, but also... since your half demon and half angel we need to see what powers you have."
"Powers?" I asked intrigued. I was never told of any powers... besides flying of course.
"Man, you really don't know anything about angels or demons do you..." he replied.
"I've read books..."
"Those silly human stories? Those won't help much. Anyway, every creature has special powers. Demons have speed and sneaking abilities. That cloud that appeared earlier was one of the many tricks I can do. We can also hide our wings to deceive other mythicals." He said making his wings appear and disappear. "Angels are stronger fliers, and have abilities of intelligence and healing. Most angels can perform telekinesis and telepathy."
"Woah. I could do all of that?"
"No one knows for sure. You might possess all of demon and angel powers or you might just have a little bit of both." He shrugged.
"So how do I find out which powers I have?" I asked excitedly.
"We just have to wait and see. I can help you try to learn some demon powers but Casmir will have to help you with the angel powers."
"When do I get to meet Casmir?"
"I don't know." He shrugged. "He's a busy guy the angel world is a much harder place to control then the demon world. I'm sure he'll come soon."
"Oh." I said a little disappointed.
"Yup."
We stood there in awkward silence for a while. He lit up another cigarette again.
"I think... I'm going to go home. I have a lot to think about." I said breaking the silence.
"Okay. Watch out though. Someone you think you know isn't who they seem to be." He replied and flew away.
Someone I know isn't who they seem to be... what did he mean by that? I hate when he gets all mysterious like this. But, I feel like I know more about him now and more about me. I definitely can say I don't hate him anymore, but he's still annoying. But I do have to admit, he's kind of cute. Wait. What am I thinking he's a demon! He can't be cute! Well I mean he can, but I shouldn't think that! Ugh what if my parents heard me.... oh wait they can't hear what I'm thinking. Okay. Than Daniel is a little cute. Just a little.
He's mostly annoying.
I opened the door with the key I have in my pocket and went straight upstairs. I had homework to do, but it was a Friday and who does homework on Fridays? Jacob does, but he's not human.
I went threw my bookshelf and looked for a book to read. I still had the prophecy book, since the librarian let me keep it for free. I took it out and flipped through the pages. How did this book get in that library in the first place? And who wrote it? Ever since I found this book my life has changed a lot. What would've happened if I never picked it up? Would I have met Daniel? Would the prophecy still come true? If it did though, I wouldn't have been prepared.
If I'm going to fight a whole army of demons and possibly angels like Daniel said, I'm going to need more than just fighting skills. One half-demon, half-angel, cannot defeat a army of demons and angels. Even if I got Daniel and Casmir to help me fight, how would we defeat an army?
I flopped on my bed and stared at the ceiling.
Having powers is cool and all but, I think I'd rather be human right about now.

BANG BANG BANG BANG! "Lucy!" I jumped out of bed about to have a heart attack and ran quickly to my window to see Daniel throwing rocks at my window.
I opened the window and yelled, "What are you doing you psychopath! I'm trying to sleep! You're going to break my window!"
"They're only pebbles..." he replied throwing one at me.
"Oww! What do you want?"
"I thought we should start training."
"Well I'm kind of in my pajamas right now..."
"Well, then... get dressed." He demanded.
"Ugh. I'll be right out. And don't you dare smoke in my yard!" I yelled. I grabbed a black t-shirt, tied a gray flannel around my waist in case it got cold, slipped on a pair of old ripped jeans, tied my hair in a sloppy bun, and quickly put on my sneakers and ran out the door. "So... what are we doing?"
"Uhh.. I don't know. I didn't think you'd say yes." He shrugged.
"Well are you going to teach me sword techniques or something about powers?"
"What do you want to learn?"
"Me? Hmm... I want to learn how to use powers!" I exclaimed thinking of all the possible powers I could use.
"Are you sure? That's going to be really hard."
"So? That's what makes it fun. It's no fun if there's no challenge."
"Mkay. Well we'll need to find somewhere away from people so they don't see anything strange."
"I thought you were all about taking risks." I mocked him.
"Well not if you might accidentally blow up an entire city."
"I can do that!! That's kind of cool, but at the same time that's really scary."
"Well, you could and it would be fun. But, you shouldn't." He replied. "Is there anywhere around here where people don't really go?"
"Umm... there's probably somewhere at the park we could go to. I mean it is six in the morning." I glared at him. "Not many people are awake anyway."
"Fine. We can go there than." He shrugged. "Lead the way."
