Chapter 14

Cash was the new intern at WICKED. His job was to follow around one of the workers, and help with whatever they needed. At first he had hated it, but he couldn't leave because it was the only job he could get. They told him that he would work with a few people before his bosses decided whose quote on quote assistant he would be.

After a month of being switched around with 7 different people, they finally assigned him to a girl who'd worked at WICKED for 8 years. At first he thought she'd be an old lady, maybe in her late 40s, but when he finally met her, she was actually younger than he was.

Ava Paige, whom most people have heard of before, took 16 year old Cash through many hallways, to get towards the direction of his new area. The place was almost in a separate building, in which some called: The Kid Jail as a joke from back when everyone was in school years ago. It was a place for all of the kids and teenagers that would soon be working, and were training to help in the labs.

Cash, who hated kids with all his heart, was not excited about the job position.

But he had to make money somehow, for he wanted to help his family.

After he had been there for about two weeks he had determined that he would only be stuck with little old ladies who needed help finding their glasses. He was sure that he would never be taken seriously, that was until he was told that he would work with a teacher before they would decide, a young teacher too. The only other thing they said about her was that her name was Charlie.

"Cash, I'd like you to meet Charlie." Ava said pointing to a short girl, who had her back to him.

She had golden brown hair, the length reaching her lower back. She had blonde highlights, and her skin was clearly a natural tan. She was wearing a white t-shirt, dark sweatpants, and blue converse. She was laughing, and Cash just wanted to see her face even more.

"Maybe it won't be so bad afterall."

Charlie turned around, a grin on her face after giggling so much. "Hey!"

"Oh my go- She's hot."

"You will be her temporary assistance for the next few months." With that, Ava left the room, leaving Cash in the new building with his boss, Charlie.

Cash scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, before saying something. "So I guess I'll be working for you-"

"You must be Cash!" Charlie said with a squeal. "I can start you right away!" she hurried over to a counter, that had papers and clipboards on it. She waved to a boy that had blonde hair, before picking up the stack, and bringing it back to Cash. "Can you take those to Delilah?"

Cash narrowed his eyes, "Who's Delilah?"

"Oh!" she laughed, "She's in the room down the hallway to the left." Charlie pointed to her right, "There's a door covered in vintage posters, and that's our room. I'd take you there myself, but-"

"Charlie! Watch out-" a football came towards her, soon crashing into her head, making her stumble forwards. Cash took this opportunity to catch her, but from the shock of the sudden weight, the two fell to the ground, Charlie ontop of Cash.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" Charlie jumped off of Cash, brushing off her clothes.

"It's fine. Not your fault." He said, sitting up.

After a few weeks, Cash got the hang of things working with Charlie. He would start his day off running papers to some of the other workers, which was not his favorite. Later, he would help Charlie teach some of the older kids to shoot pistols and shotguns. He loved watching her go all badass in the range.

He usually had a break after the shooting process, which he used to try flirting with Charlie. She always would playfully do it back, not wanting to hurt his feelings.

"You wanna grab lunch?" Cash asked, leaning against a wall, watching Charlie help a toddler get their stuff packed away.

"Sure." she responded, not looking up from her work. "See you later Jack!" she waved to the little boy, as he ran off with another helper.

Cash walked over to Charlie, helping her put away some of her things. "You should stop taking everything so seriously, you're just stressing yourself out." he pushed his hand against the wall, stopping Charlie from moving.

Charlie rolled her eyes, "It's my job. I can't stop doing it, or I'll probably be thrown out into the flaming sun." she pushed past Cash's arm, putting books into a drawer.

"Ready?"

"Yeah." Cash wanted to slip his fingers into hers, so that they interlocked. He was so obsessed with her, but wouldn't want to ruin his internship, for the rules were not to have a relationship with your boss.
