Mark: Saturday, 3 December

The sun shone through the window, but that wasn't what woke me up. What woke me up was the sound of yelling downstairs. Jack sat up when he heard it as well, he looked at me with a nervous expression. I pushed him off and told him to stay put as I opened the door and walked downstairs.
"What's going on?" I asked when I could see Bob and Wade in an argument with one another. Neither of them said a word. "When did you guys get back last night?"
"Late enough." Bob sighed. "I thought I was drunk and seeing things but apparently not."
"What..? What are you talking about?" I asked.
"I'm telling you Bob, you really shouldn't be mad at Mark for not saying anything!" Wade exclaimed. Bob and Wade each turned to me and I was incredibly surprised.
"You didn't ever say you were gay!" Bob huffed at me and I went wide eyed. "When we got home last night, we went to check if you were here because you said you had plans, and I thought I might have been seeing it wrong but turns out that you were here bedding some kid and you couldn't even tell your two best friends this!"
"You guys have it all wrong." I shook my head. "I wasn't 'bedding' anyone. We just fell asleep, nothing more than that happened."
"So you're going to say you're not gay?" Bob folded his arms. "I didn't have a problem with it, I'm just shocked that you hid it from us! Did you expect us never to find out you were with someone?"
"Bob I'm not with him or anything!" I said. I questioned whether or not I should just spit out that Jack was the one he saw, but I was really afraid to. After all, how would they react when I told them that I invited one of my students over and I was seen sleeping with them?
"But Mark, are you gay, that's the question." Wade clarified. "There's nothing wrong with it, we just want to know."
"Well you're making it into a bigger deal than it needs to be!" I snapped. I was throwing my own fit at this point, but this whole situation was blown so far out of proportion that I was really starting to become angry. "Yes! Alright? That the answer you wanted to hear!?"
"Now who is that?" The conversation continued onto who I was sleeping bed with.
And as if on cue, Jack's small voice came from the top of the stairs. "M-Mark? What's going on?"
"Is that.. Jack?" Wade looked at me confused before going wide eyed. "Mark he's a student!"
"Shut up, I know!" I said harshly as Jack reached the bottom of the stairs. We all looked at him and he was just as confused and afraid as we all were. Jack held his arms closer to him when he could see us all looking at him.
"O-Oh.." He breathed. "Um.. H-Hi.."
"Hi Jack." Bob greeted him, as if it was nothing. "How'd you sleep?"
Jack went wide eyed, clearly confused and shocked by the question, but he answered it nonetheless. "G-Good.. How about you?"
"I'm a little hungover, but I think I'm fine." Bob admitted to him. Jack nodded his head but it looked like it took a lot of work for him to get it to move in a smooth movement.
Wade was looking between Jack and I and he looked extremely angry at both of us. He pushed his hair back and then Jack out of the way as he walked up the stairs. I let out a sigh as I ran a hand down my face, Bob - feeling the awkward tensions - exited the room too. I stood and didn't know what to do at this point.
"Mark?" Jack spoke up, I heard him but he didn't catch my attention. "I'm sorry, Mark."
"It's okay, Jack." I breathed. "It really is not your fault."
"Is everything going to be alright?" I felt Jack's hand on my shoulder, he leaned over to see my face and he reached up and turned my head so I could see his worried blue eyes. "Mark?"
"Don't worry, it's fine." I smiled down at him and turned so I could see his face on a more even level. He returned it, and I didn't know if he was just trying to reassure me, or if he was actually smiling back at me.
"You know, Mark." He said as he teetered back and forth on his feet while I walked across the room and sat down on the couch. "I've done all the worksheets."
I turned my attention away from the television and back over to him, I raised an eyebrow. "Yeah?" He nodded. "Congratulations."
"Didn't you say there were rewards for finishing all of my work?" Jack asked.
I thought about it. "I did say that, you get good grades when you do your work."
Jack smiled a little bit and his eyes wandered all around the room and then back to me. "Not what I had in mind, Markimoo."
I cocked an eyebrow, I really didn't want to ask what he had in mind but at the same time, I didn't have a choice. Jack walked over to me and straddled my lap, he leaned down to my face and I froze in my spot. "Even after doing your work," I breathed in. "You still.. You're still trying to get me to give you good grades?"
"I'm not doing this for the grades." Jack said quietly, and I felt his lips collide with my own, I couldn't move for a few seconds. Jack pushed a little harder down on me and it was then that my eyes fluttered shut and I began to kiss him back.
I placed my hands on Jack's waist and pulled him closer to me and I let out a moan into his mouth when I felt his fingers pulling on my hair. Jack pulled away, not before biting down on my lip.
"That's a good reward, don't you think?" Jack whispered with a sly smile. "So what was that nonsense you were talking about how you didn't want me to call you certain things because you're my teacher?"
I was wide eyed, "Shit.." I had practically forgotten all about it. "Don't tell anyone, even your stupid friend Felix."
Jack put his hands up as he sat back on my lap. "Sorry, my hands are tied there. I tell Felix everything."
"I'm serious Jack, I could get in a lot of trouble - you're only seventeen." I said coldly.
"Oh please all we did was kiss, we didn't do anything serious." Jack rolled his eyes and I could feel my face turning red at how careless he was. I had to remember that he acted like this with a lot of people, I wasn't at all special.
"Get off!" I snapped at him and pushed him off onto the couch, he was wide eyed and shocked. "Come on, you're going home."
"O-Okay.." Jack said quietly as he pulled himself off of the couch and followed me out the door. "Mark, slow down!" He requested as he jogged alongside me. "You're walking too fast! What's the matter with you?"
"I'm not going to be a part of you game, Jack." I said sourly. "Get in the car."
"Mark you're not -"
"You act like this with so many people, nothing changes people like that. Get in." I snarled at him and he got in the car. When I got in as well, I took in a deep breath before starting the car. I really didn't like to drive angry, so I tried my best to calm down while pulling out of the lot.
Jack said nothing, and when we arrived at his house I took a deep breath and released it before looking at Jack. His hand was on the car door handle, waiting for me to unlock it, but he wasn't looking at me.
"Mark, I don't care if you don't believe me," Jack began, still refusing to make eye contact with me. "But I didn't do any of that for just shits and giggles, I really.. I really meant it."
"Just get out Jack." I sighed and unlocked the car door.
Jack stared at me for a minute, but it was now me who refused to look up and acknowledge the pools of tears building up in his ocean-colored eyes. I had a fear of the ocean, now that I thought about it. I had a fear of falling for Jack too. I wasn't ready to face either of them yet. So I kept my eyes down.
"Well, see you in class on Monday then." Jack said. "I'm sorry, Mark."
"Jack, I'm serious," I could feel my own eyes starting to water. I really didn't want to be a joke to some high school kid, but I couldn't stop myself from becoming his laughing stock. "J-Just.. Just go!"
I heard the door open and I could see Jack walk up to his house and I drove off of the property, feeling a sudden overwhelming guilt wash over me in waves. There was nothing to do now, though.
