Chapter 4
This girl, Jane, was a very peculiar person, Lara thought. Lara stares at the covered-from-hair-to-toe Jane. She is not scared of anything, nor did she scream when she saw their guns. Heck, she didn't even flinch. She just backed away cautiously.
When Lara saw her enter the room at first, something told her that she was a capable person. A very potential vampire hunter recruit. So, the obvious thing to do was to make her join the Vampire Hunter Association.
Talented hunters were necessary, since the vampires finally decided to attack the humans on a larger scale, the cause being unknown. Vampires never attacked humans in such a way, and now humans are in danger of extinction.
Jane accepted right away after Lara promised her an iPhone, which was a shock to all of them. She now broke the record of joining the fastest in the Vampire Hunter Association.
"So, what do I have to do? Kill some vampires? Where are the gaming consoles?" Jane says eagerly, looking around. Although, that was a problem, Lara thought. She didn't believe them to the slightest.
Lara takes out a wooden box, and calls Jane over to her. Jane raises an eyebrow, and scoots closer to Lara. That wooden box kind of seemed antique? Is there something old inside? Jane looks forward to what it was.
Lara hands her the wooden box.
"Open it." The blonde guy says to Jane. Lara glares at him, probably angry because he just took her speech, just like his sister a couple of moments ago. Jane nods, and opens the lid of the box.
She shuts it again, because she wants to observe the strange pattern on the lid of the box. It is plain wooden, but there are golden designs covering the surface. Gold, swirly swirly designs. It makes her confused. She thought she saw a cows face in one of the designs.
She shakes her head, dismissing that thought. Here she is, feeling like a heroine in some movie, and she just had to ruin it with the cow thingy.
Actually, now that she looks closely, the face seems oddly long. A horse's face?
She ignores her thoughts and opens the box. Her eyes narrow at the surreal sight.
A gun? Why are they giving her a gun? She looks at it closely. It looks like a typical revolver, but somehow has a lighter shade of grey. There are black letters on it.
V . H . A
1825-2017 A.D.
Okay. Looks really realistic for a toy. Seeing that, gives her a very eerie feeling. What are those letters? Vampire Hunter Association? Vanilla Hot Apple? Very Humungous Ass?
She takes the gun out of that wooden box and grips the grip of the gun. Very heavy indeed. Jane never had an interest in guns, but she did play with toy guns before. They looked realistic but their feel was totally and utterly fake. But this gun, on the other hand, feels very real. The cool surface of the gun makes her wonder what metal they used to make it.
She gently put the gun back inside the box, and closes the lid.
Her lack of reaction made Lara very anxious. Does she still think that they are lying? Lara stares at Jane closely, for any facial change. Rather, Laura can't even see her face properly. Jane is the type of person that makes Lara want to slap her.
"So, um, what should I do next? Can I call the police? That was a very very real gun, and a custom made one at that." Jane says .
"Why aren't you surprised or scared?!" Lara snaps, a frown forming on her face.
"Cuz I play too many games?" Jane replies guiltily. "Sorry about that."
Lara sighs, and puts her hands on her head in frustration. "Well, anyway, let me introduce ourselves." Lara says. "My name is Lara Cross. I am the daughter of the current Leader of the Vampire Hunter Association."
"You could just say VHA or something." Jane points out. Lara glares back, and Jane made a mental not to not point things out to her.
"The one who found out about you is Louis Moreau, and yes, he is French." Jane looks at Louis, the black haired huge guy, and wondered in what angle he looks French. In all honesty, he looks Asian. He catches Jane staring at him, and she smiles, waving slightly. For some unfathomable reason, he blushes and looks away.
Uh, sorry?
"That girl sitting here is Melissa Williams, while the boy standing over there is Thomas Williams. They are twins."
Well, no shit Sherlock. They look so identical that if Melissa cuts her hair, she would actually look like her brother. Jane smiles at both of them, and Melissa smiles back politely. Thomas, on the other hand, sticks his tongue out at Jane. She completely doesn't give a shit and looks at Lara again.
"And the one reading the book is Lawrence Blue." Jane looks at Lawrence, who briefly looks at her and then resumed reading. Blue? Why is his name Blue? "He is actually a member of the Blue household." As if that answered her question. What Blue household? Is their house blue? Are their brains blue? Or the colour of their bloods blue? How confusing.
"Well, now that we introduced ourselves, tell us about yourself."
"I'm Jane Zhuravel. I, uh, like cake?"
"Well, it's nice to meet you. Since you have officially joined us, we must take you to our headquarters." Lawrence points out, pushing his glasses with his fingers. Do all glasses people do that? And where the heck is their 'headquarters'?! Jane thinks these people are very delusional indeed.
"But first, shouldn't you guys explain to me what you do? Which game you guys play and such. And what about other members?" Jane asks suspiciously.
The door barges open, and a certain brown haired individual enters in a hurry, huffing with exhaustion.
"Sorry I'm late!"
