Everything is pitch black. Greyish black mist formed around but dispersed shortly.

'...'

Silence followed, nothing else came after.

Lumiose City, Kalos Region

Three days came by after the Elite Four battle at the Lumiose Conference, the city's still packed with visitors from across the regions, some are staying for the awaited champion's battle. Since it's been years since someone challenged for a champion title, it was a long awaited match for everyone.

"Hurry up, brother!" A rather child girl voice called out as she ran on the vast city floors.

She is wearing a warm brown short-sleeve top with a small black bow at the neckline, paired with knee-length black leggings and a puffy white skirt that looks like a little cloud. She finishes the outfit with pink Mary Jane flats and a bright yellow shoulder satchel, and her hair is styled into a side ponytail with a braid, held in place by a yellow hair clip.

A Dedenne laid on top of her shoulder as she ran around, resting.

"Bonnie wait up!" Another voice replied as he followed, panting.

He is wearing a bright blue, zip-front jumpsuit with a high collar and short sleeves, designed like a sleek mechanic or inventor outfit. It has bold yellow accents (including a lightning-bolt style stripe and trim details) and matching yellow utility elements that make it look practical for gadgets and repairs. He pairs it with orange-brown shoes, and he often carries his signature backpack.

"Bonnie's on high spirits, isn't she Clemont?" A feminine cheery voice said.

She's wearing a red brimmed hat with a black band and pink ribbon, a black sleeveless top under a pinkish-red dress with a flared skirt, and black leggings. She finishes it with brown ankle boots and carries a small shoulder bag. Added with sunglasses to match with the sunny weather.

"Ever since she saw the news, she's pumped out about it." Clemont replied as he's catching his breath.

"But Serena, still, do you have time as the Kalos Queen yourself take a walk with us?" He added.

"You're my friends, of course I would take some time, and besides, I kinda wanted too stroll and not just get stuck on my duties as the queen." Serena said as she placed her hands together and looked at the scenery of Vert Plaza.

"Also, Shauna contacted me and mentioned she's here, so might as well say hi to her." She added.

"How's the gym?"

"It's going smooth, Clembot's doing all the work for me for the time being." Clemont replied.

"I can't believe a simple sunglass disguise would knock you off from paparazzi." Bonnie said, tilting her head as she stopped running around.

Both Serena and Clemont just sweatdropped and nervously laughed at that comment and just continued walking.

The three walked together endlessly as they visited different shops and stalls. Clemont had a hard time chasing her younger sister who's had full energy. Serena just chuckling behind at the sight of the two siblings. They also had coffee at Café Soleil, which is famous for their Soleil Blend, as well as some other recipes they had. But as they continued on strolling, something came up-

BOOM!

A loud explosion can be heard from a distance, followed by thick smoke. This caught the attention of everyone. Some people ran off towards the trio. The trio also took notice of the explosion.

"A commotion right on inside the city?!" Clemont exclaimed, fixing his glasses. 

Bonnie quickly went closer to the two as she heard the explosion.

"Call Officer Jenny quick!"

More people came running towards them.

"Bonnie, Clemont, this might be dangerous, we have to leave right away." Serena warned, the two nodded in response and also was about to run away.

But to no avail, a random Flamethrower was about to hit someone, Serena dilated her eyes as she noticed it and quickly made a move.

"Delphox, come out and use Fire Blast, intercept it quick!" She exclaimed in terror.

Just as soon as the random Flamethrower was about to hit someone, Delphox quickly came out from it's pokeball and immediately launched a kanji-shaped [大] fire pit and intercepted the Hyper Beam, resulting to a mini explosion midway.

Serena quickly got closer to the person and noticed it was a child. She proceeded to check on her, after securing that everything's fine, the child thanked her and ran off to safety.

"Serena, are you okay?!" Clemont worriedly asked as he also got into the scene, Bonnie also followed.

"Are you hurt somewhere?!" Bonnie followed up, also worried.

"I'm fine, good thing I was on time." 

Suddenly, a loud cry can be heard from a close distance, as soon as it got closer, it landed right in front of the trio.

It was a Salamence, and an extremely angry one at that.

Bonnie looked with terror in her eyes, Clemont held her sister closer, and Serena stared at it, she scanned as to why it looked so angry and noticed a collar was attached on it's neck.

"That must be it." 

"We have to get that thing out of it. Luxray come out!" Clemont said as he held out his pokeball and tossed it.

A Luxray came out from it's pokeball and cried out. Delphox also went beside it and held out a battle stance, ready for the incoming commands.

"Bonnie, if I made the signal, go to a safe place away from here." Clemont instructed his sister. Bonnie just nodded in reply.

Salamence channeled out another Flamethrower and burst it outwards, and then towards them.

"Delphox, Shadow Ball, intercept it!" 

"Luxray, follow it with Wild Charge!"

Another explosion occurred as the Shadow Ball and Flamethrower collided, dust kicked in and Salamence had trouble scanning it's surroundings, then suddenly.

"RaaAy!" The Gleam Eyes Pokemon lunged forward from the smoke and made a clean hit towards Salamence. The Dragon Pokemon roared in pain as it flew back, it just made it more angrier than before. Clemont saw this as an opportunity for Bonnie to get herself to safety, she quickly ran off as soon as the dust kicked in.

"Now's the chance, use Crunch on that collar!" Clemont commanded quickly.

Luxray was about to pounce Salamence, but to no avail, Salamence quickly got up and slapped it with it's tail, hard. Luxray came out flying away from it and banged into a building.

"Luxray no!" 

Just as it was about to fire up another Flamethrower, Serena quickly commanded.

"No you don't, Delphox use your Flamethrower too!"

Salamence shot up it's Flamethrower, only to be intercepted with Delphox's own.

"That Salamence's pretty tough." Serena murmured.

Luxray also got up, it had minor injuries on it's body but it's still perfectly in for battle. Clemont sighed in relief as he saw his Pokemon.

"How did it end up in that situation anyways?" 

As the battle dragged on, commands were called out hoping that some of it may hit the collar off of Salamence, but to no avail, Salamence is too strong and brittle to be affected by controlled moves. The battle dragged on for too long now, then suddenly, Salamence roared in pain, louder than before.

"What's happening?!" Serena exclaimed.

The collar around it's neck glowed bright, just then, Salamence was engulfed in a bright light, still roaring in pain, it's structural body grew, and when the light died out, its wings fused into a huge crescent-shaped structure that functions like a living glider, letting it cut through the sky at high speed and strike with brutal power. Its body looks sleeker and more armored, with sharper lines and a more intimidating, predatory presence—built like a fighter jet that can still smash things up close.

"No way..." Clemont stared in horror.

"Mega Salamence...without a mega stone?!" Serena said, now worried about their opponent.

"It must be because of that collar! We have to remove it quick!"

Mega Salamence stared intimidatingly at the two, catching it's breath, still being controlled by the mysterious collar on it's neck, before channeling a Hyper Beam.

Serena dilated her eyes as she quickly commanded.

"Delphox quick! Use Protect!"

"Luxray, get behind Delphox!"

Mega Salamence launched a powerful Hyper Beam, but luckily, Delphox was also quick in structuring out a barrier that formed in front of them, but the pressure was too strong powerful and they were being pushed aback, minor injuries covered both Pokemon's body, on the other hand, the mega evolved Dragon Pokemon flinched at the recoil of the move it just shot.

"It must be at it's limit, we have to finish it quick!" Serena called out.

"Right! Luxray, use Ice Fang!" 

"Delphox, Shadow Ball again!"

The two launched both of their attacks, the Shadow Ball struck Salamence, it roared loudly in pain, the Ice Fang also followed and hit it's mark. But the two thought that Salamence was at it's limit, but it proved them wrong.

Salamence gritted it's teeth, and then it's claws glowed bright green, and just like that, it hit both Pokemons right on the spot, it was a critical hit.

"Luxray!"

"Delphox no!"

Both Pokemon cried out in pain.

Serena and Clemont looked in horror, seeing both of their Pokemons getting struck by a powerful attack, both Pokemons got flung towards their respective trainers, both of them ran towards their Pokemons and checked on them, just then Serena glanced at Mega Salamence, only to see it about to launch another Hyper Beam.

"No way..." Both Serena and Clemont muttered.

Mega Salamence finished channeling and fired off another Hyper Beam, at a distance, Bonnie watched in horror as the move was about to hit both of them.

"NOOO!" She screamed out, holding her hand up.

Serena closed her eyes as she braced for the impact, holding her injured Delphox due to the previous attack.

But then, she suddenly heard another Pokemon cry.

"PikaaaCHUPI!"
