Chapter One: The Move

************************************

"Emily. Are you almost done dear?"
My mom asked me downstairs. We were moving to Metorvide after my dad died a week ago, due to a break in one night. He died from getting shot three times in the chest. After that fateful day I was never the same again, I barely come out to eat dinner anymore I just usually feed off my music.

I continued to look at a photo of me and my dad when I was six. I'm currently 17 years old and I have two siblings. Christine, who is my young sister, is 9 years old. She has curly black hair that ends just above her shoulders. She has a light brown complexion and light blue innocent eyes. A few freckles are on both her cheeks and a cute nose. With one look she could have the whole world worshiping her for her beauty.

Steve is 16 years old and he is every girls dream. He is slim built and has chestnut coloured eyes. His cheekbones outlines neatly and he has a straight nose. He usually wears plain V-necked shirts which pretty much shows you his six packs. After dad's death, he never smiles like he used to. He only walks in the house or he just stays in his room for the whole day until dinner time. Or he just annoys the crap out of me.

"Emily?" My mom asked again, this time she was right in my doorway. "Are you alright honey?" I merely nodded at her. She walked over to me and hugged me. "It's OK, I miss him too."

"It's alright mom. I'm OK." I smiled at her. She smiled back. "Alright. Hurry and pack and can you please get Steve to get ready?" She asked while walking towards the door.

"OK." I put the photo I had in a box labeled 'Dad's Stuff' filled with memories of him. I really miss him, he was the best dad in the world. It literally killed me when we found him dead in the living room.

I headed to my brother's room, which was across from mine, and knocked on his door. "Steve? You in there? If you are then can you hurry up, we need to pack all our stuff in the van or else the guys will leave." I checked my watch. "In the next seven minutes."

I heard a load groan then the door flew open. "Fine."

I walked over to Christine's room to see how she was doing. "Knock knock." I said as I appeared at her door.

"Who's there?" She asked, joining the game. "Garbage!" Steve shouted while walking down the stairs. I rolled my eyes.

She looked like she needed help so I walked in. "Need any help?" I asked. She looked at me and smiled. "Sure! Can you carry that box for me please?" she pointed to a box that was near her closet. "Sure."

I walked over and picked it up. "So..are you excited about the move?" I decided to ask since there was nothing much to say. She shrugged her shoulders and finished packing her colouring papers in a box. "I don't know. Maybe?"

"Do you see that? You're the same person who told me to hurry, and now you're blabbering your mouth. Wasting time." Steve said from the door. "Fine we'll hurry." Christine answered back.

Me and Christine walked out the room, box in hand, and started remembering everything we've done here.

I sighed, "I'm surely gonna miss that hole in the wall." "How did it came there in the first place?" Christine asked me.

"Don't you remember? That same hole  was created by Steve when he drank 50 bottles of Pepsi and burped there."

Christine cringed up her face, "That's disgusting. I think I remember now." She looked at the burned mark in the ceiling. "Remember how that got there? I still can't believe you literally tried to fart on the cloth that was on fire."

We laughed at the memory. Yes, I tried to do that. I still can't believe it though.

"And remember that time I shoved Emily in that pile of skunk crap?" Steve laughed out loud. I punched him in the face really hard for two reasons

One being that I smelled like crap for  a week earning the nickname 'Deaths' Bride' at school.

Two is that he cursed in front of Christine.

He held on to His bleeding nose. "What the hell Emily!" I punched him again. "Son of a b-" I punched him once more. "What the f-" I raised my hand, daring him to finish his sentence.

He just walked away while saying, "And I wasn't going to say that. I was going to say flapjacks.". I sighed in frustration and gave Christine a smile. "Don't tell mom I did this in front of you, got it?" She nodded.

........................................................................

We exited our house with all our stuff; Spoons, forks, bowls, plates, knives, ladles, strainers, toaster, spatulas, coffee maker, can cutter, CDs, toys, clothes, pictures, curtains, rugs, towels, paintings, TV, microwave, chairs, pots, flower pots, stove, fridge, washing machine, dresser, mirrors, books, sheets, beds, pillows, tables, DVD, clocks, lamps, food, phones, chargers,  boxes, boxes and more boxes.

After we totally loaded the van, we drove off. Off to Metorvide. I never actually thought we'd move, well it was going to happen sooner or later but...

"Emilyyyyyyy. Get your smelly feet off me." Steve said in his sleep. Waite, since when did he fell asleep? And for the record my feet aren't smelly!

I removed my feet from his leg, since I was kinda lying on the passenger seat with Steve under me.

Not like that! Y'all have dirty minds I'll give you folks that.

I was bored so I decided to cramp the silence with some music. I played 'Ride' by Timeflies. I had on headphones so no one heard what the song was saying, and I really don't want that happening.

I slightly shook my head with the beat as I stared out the window. Then my eye caught something.

Just after entering the outskirts of Metorvide I saw a little girl, about the age of 6-9, running and laughing while a boy her age was chasing her with a....a what?.....a freaking knife?!

And he was laughing like it was the most normal thing to do! I was about to tell my mom to let the guys pull over, but my head snapped back in the direction of the playing children and saw that the little girl was lying flat on her back....w-with the k-nife in her g-gut!

Blood oozed out from that blade wound and my eyes widened at the site. Then the most unusual thing happened.

She got up smiling. Taking out a bag filled with blood, which now I'm assuming is ketchup because she's pretty much alive, from out her chest and threw it in a bin. Then they ran back to the direction they were coming from.

Did I really just saw that? Or am I dreaming? Either way that's not the type of game that kids their age should play.

What was this town's name again? Oh yeah, Stooge Ville. Who on earth would name something that? Not me that's for sure. We pulled up at the house and I checked it out.

In some weird and unexplained way, the house 'kinda' looks like our old one. Except for the paint and the yard and whatever we'll find inside.

We unloaded the van and I'm pretty surprised that it actually managed to fit all our stuff. We packed almost EVERYTHING in there.

My mom opened the door and went in. "Wow. This place looks amazing." She complemented the place.

I was the last to enter but before I took a step inside, I felt as if I was being watched. I frantically looked around until my eyes looked to my left.

Right next door, I saw a man standing at the door with it wide open. I stared at him until my eyes blinked. The next thing  I knew, he was gone and the door was closed.

"What?" I pondered about what I just saw. My thoughts were interrupted
when Christine called to me.

"Are you alright? Your just staring at the house next door." I blinked a few times before answering.

"Oh..I uh. It's fine. I'm OK." I assured her with a smile. She returned it. "Come on! Let's explore the house!" She chirped excitedly. I nodded and took one last glance at the house next door before going inside
