Chapter One - Finding It

  Draco ran his hand over the leather cover, his thumb lightly tracing over the silver lettering that spelt out 'JOURNAL' in broad, capital letters. He spent several moments wondering whom it belonged to. He had found it in potions after the class had ended and, since he was the last one there, he had been the only one to notice it. After Draco had picked it up he had gone to the Slytherin dorms to have a look at it during his free hour.

Now that's where he was now; in the Slytherin dorms, sitting atop his black, and green accented bed, running his hand over the beautiful leather cover and silver lettering. He went to open it only to find he couldn't, for there was a locking charm on it. It was a simple first year spell and Draco undid it, flicking his wand, with ease. He finally opened it and allowed it to turn to a random page.

'August 17th

My Uncle forbid me to go back to Hogwarts next month, he even punished me for even thinking about going back. I'm still kind of sore from that, if I'm being honest. I'm not letting it show though. I want to go back, really, but I doubt I'll ever get a chance to go back with how he's threatening me. He'll kill me if I try.. or worse... Guess I'll have to stay here.'

This confused Draco. Why would someone's Uncle do that?  Were they being serious when they wrote that they're Uncle would kill them? What was worse then that? What was the 'punishment' that they received? With those questions (and many, many more) swirling in his mind, Draco continued reading.
