Chapter One
"No, No, That one! No the one on the far right, you ass." Gabe was instructing a very hesitant boy to the farthest stall in the boy's bathroom. "Now," he began very dramatically as his friends giggled and produced two red ketchup packets. "You, Dean, will place these two packets folded under the toilet seat, making it so when someone sits down they get a lovely ketchup stain over their clothing and legs." He snickered and Dean jumped for the two, red, very evil tomato smoothie packs, and shoved them into position. "There. Done. Now my bag," He demanded and one of Gabe's friends threw his bag across the bathroom floor, just for that one last degrading act. Dean grabbed it and began walking out when he was stopped. "Oh and Dean? Don't do anything stupid. We," he said motioning to his friends, "Will know. And You will be over." The blonde gave one last nod and began walking to the principal's office. "You wanted to see me Mr. Collins?" He asked and the tall principal came over. "Yes I did, we have a new transfer and I thought that because you interact so nicely with your peers you could sort of be a tour guide. We normally save this sorta stuff for the school ambassadors, but I just get the feeling you could be more realistic about it." Mr. Collins explained and Dean knew this was a non-negotiable type deal.
As he motioned for someone in the next room over to come in Dean inwardly braced himself for the worst. "Dean, this is Cas." The head said and Dean thanked his lucky stars that this student wasn't an athlete who was always bullying others, but a quieter student. At least that was the vibe he was giving off. You wouldn't know it from the looks of him, but Dean wasn't the popular jock everyone always seemed to stereotype him as. "Hi," Cas said had said and was now looking uncomfortable with Mr. Collins hovering over them. "Hey, do you wanna-" Dean began and pointed to the door. "Yeah, that's a good plan. Let's bounce then, see you around Mr...Clover?" Cas guessed at the name, having already forgotten it. "Close enough, I'll go email the teachers that you're here and set up a lunch account for you." He nodded and the duo exited the very awkward room. "So where'd you transfer from?" Dean spoke up and Cas shrugged. "Colorado." There was more silence until they reached room A202. "So this is study hall, which I think you also have now." he said and headed to a spot in the left, middle side of the room. The corners in the back always seemed too generic to pick. Too overused. Like almost as overused when one goes and falls in love with the new kid. It just wouldn't fit his personality.
Later as the duo headed to their lockers before lunch Dean grabbed his bag he'd nearly lost to those jokers in the bathroom that morning. "Would you be good if I go do a thing real quick?" he asked and Cas nodded. "Yeah I'll manage," he replied and Dean smiled. "Great, I'll be back soon I swear," he promised and dashed off leaving Cas to fend food for himself.
Cas began tracing the steps to the lunchroom and once he'd found it he slid into line and bought a chef salad. He managed to find an empty table and sat down, pulling out a book called 'Restart.' Nearly five minutes until the lunch period ended Dean sat down next to him. "I see you found your way okay," He said with a crooked smile and Cas laughed. "Yeah I guess I did." He replied equally as goofy and they headed off to their next class. At one point Cas raised his hand and went to the bathroom. That was at 2:10, and given it was now 2:40, Dean began to grow concerned. He excused himself and rushed off to go find the missing boy.
"Please don't be in there," Dean inwardly prayed as he headed into the small bathroom where he'd been pushed around earlier that morning. "Cas?" He called as he began opening the unoccupied stalls in attempts to find him. "Cas if you are in here you have thirty seconds before I kick the stall door down." He threatened as he approached the one locked stall on the right. He counted for a full minute and sighed.
