Chapter Six

Samuel's pov:

After the announcement on the speakers I followed Mary since I wasn't designated a bunker yet. On the way I saw Jonathan several dozen feet ahead of me.

He was accompanied by the entire Council of Elders and several elite guards. The mass of people that we were apart of slowly approached the bunker that I had visited earlier the day, but instead of the door being closed it was wide open and people were entering by the dozens.

I finally entered the bunker and went into shock by how advanced and foreign it looked.

There were lights flashing everywhere, people had things on their head that talked to and it stretched to both sides of their head. People pressed tiny button with letters on them and made words appear on a bright paper that created light.

I remain in awe until a massive vibration went through the bunker sending people into a panic. People in the tunnels start screaming as the screeching sounds of mutations silence them.

Before all the people could finish entering the bunker, the doors started closing. People started shoving people to the side as the try to get to safety before the door closed.

Moments after the door finished closing the screams all stopped. Replacing them was an eerie silence. Then a banging on the door as if the mutations were trying to break the door down.

The people that were on the bunker looked terrified. You could see it in their eyes, even though they stood tall and stared strong at the door. We were all scared but few had the strength to mask the fear.

Unknown's pov:
Two days after the destruction of the city.

I slept soundly in the protection of the village. I only woke up when the wood nymph woke me up from poking me in the face with its tiny hands.

It was just turning dawn and everyone else was still asleep. A few grass nymphs were up and flying around but that was it.

The wood nymph seemed to urge me out of my bed. It was acting very distressed for no known reason. Then I saw it.

The glow of an Archlight, a very powerful phenomenon that when it occurred it was often accompanied by a large chain of event that could either be good or bad. And the wood nymph felt as if this one particular one was going to be bad, and it was right.

The wind very rapidly picked up to dangerously high speeds. Dark clouds ominously formed overhead and made a circle pattern in the sky over the Archlight. The grass nymphs scurried about waking up their village friends and urging them to run. The wood nymph simply just watched, as if to captivated to run.

A massive blinding bolt of lightning struck the Archlight and caused it to explode sending catastrophic shock waves through the air decimating the remains of the village. Blowing people through the air, and the grass nymphs being dragging in the air with the wave.

Then even faster than it came, it vanished.

I turned to where the wood nymph to find it no longer where it was when the storm happened. It was now nearly twenty feet away under some rubble from a ruined building.

I scrambled the rescue the wood nymph from the debris. When I finally managed to free the nymph it looked half dead barely even breathing.

I don't know anything about saving wood nymphs, but I tried my hardest. I found water to clean it of and to quench its thirst. I tire if some of my shirt to make little bandages for its injuries, then I found a basket looking item and gently put the nymph in it and covered it with the rest if my shirt to keep it warm.

The wood nymph's pov
During the Archlight event:

The human is sleeping now. Sleep is good for him. He needs much, much sleep, but to much can make him lazy.

What's this? Human needs to see the light. It's so... Illuminating. I feel danger. Something bad is close.

I must warn friend human, he needs to have safety. Saftey is running away. Must take him to the Queen. She can help human, but first I must help human get safe.

He might not speak nymph, but he understands me. I tug and tug and tug at him as he slowly gets up. His eyes go very big when he sees the glowing light.

He scrambles yo his feet like he's scared. Does human friend feel danger too? Or is it the light he is afraid of?

The wind is picking up now. No more will I fly until wind is gone. It is getting dark again. I not understand this. I see the clouds go in a circle. In the middle of all the circles is a pretty little light.

The light...it is so friendly, but it's mad at human. I must protect human.

I tell the light to go away, but it told no to me.

I tell the light to go away and return never again. Again the light said no.

I tell the light to go or I'll make it disappear. This scared the light very much. It angered it also. He said I defied master and that we need to go away.

It touched the glowing light that was under it and made it attack us. First it got rid of village. Then air wave swept us away and knocked down the humans. It pushed me on a wall and wall fell on me and it hurt.

I want to sleep now. The hurt is making me sleep. I'll wake up soon, for human will look after me...

Samuel's pov:
Three hours after the mutations invaded the tunnels

I can't quite recall the details of what happened. I remember bits and pieces, but it's mostly a blur of events.

The mutations invaded the tunnels but then left for no apparent reason. I think they're still on the other side if the door waiting for us to come out so they can massacre us.

The Council of Elders are sleeping in the most secure part of the bunker.

To the extent of everyone's knowledge in the bunker, only me, my twin, older brother, and mother are still alive. Grandfather was seen dead in the cafeteria with my younger sister's. The rest are presumed safe in other bunkers.

I wake up to a massive shaking of the earth. Even the people on the "computers" as I've been told looked around perplexed.

Mary told us that it was a uncommon event called an earthquake.

********************************
Three days later after the attack on the tunnels...

Dear journal,
We ventured out of the bunkers and tunnels and back out into the city after confirmation that it was clear of mutations.

I reunited with what was left of my family which was me, my twin, older brother, older sister, our mom, our dad, and our grandmother.

We are currently in our house getting our personal belongings so we can set out with the rest of the survivors to a secret city called Nuexes which was hidden underground in the mountains.

This is all I can right for now because we are leaving our old lives...forever.
