Chapter two: Search 2

Hey! I wrote it! The next chapter! Enjoy! ❤️

AARON'S POV

So.....where are we going now?" Sophie asked curiously. She was hefting a large pack full of supplies from her parents. It was quite big, and looked heavy. She was lagging behind Aaron who had a much lighter pack on his back. "The closest person is that other boy with silver eyes, so we're heading there." Aaron replied, studying a map of the world. "My senses tell me to go northeast, but there are sooo many towns that way." He muttered, deep in thought. The likely place for someone to live was Draya, but still it didn't narrow much down. And the boy could be anywhere; after all, Sophie lived in the rainforest.

"Ahem! Aaron? You listening? I was thinking, the boy we're looking for had a lot of books, and Wasara has the most paper, not to mention the smartest town to the north. You said he would be northeast, right? I think Wasara would fit." Sophie said, puffing slightly from the load. Aaron was slightly surprised. This girl was very logical. "Good point. We'll start there." Aaron reached back and grabbed the telepath's hand.

"Whaaaat are you doing?!" The brunette struggled in Aaron's grip, blue eyes wide and face red. "Oh don't be so dramatic. I'm going to teleport us closer to Wasara." Aaron said crisply, ignoring Sophie's red face. He gathered his concentration, feeling the power course through his body. Right. We need to go to Wasara. Aaron felt a click and a pull and the two of them were yanked away in a flash of light.

They landed in an open prairie with the sun shining right in their eyes. Aaron blinked and stumbled, feeling like all the energy had been sucked out of him. Sophie tripped backwards and landed on the ground, her pack doing nothing to help her. "Whoa, next time, a little warning please." She said. "Are you alright?" She asked, seeing a shaky Aaron plop down on the grass next to her. "I'm fine. Teleporting takes a lot out of you." He said. They sat beneath the sun for a moment, Aaron regaining his strength.

"Come on. Let's go see if the boy we're looking for is here." Aaron finally said, standing and brushing grass off of his pants. Sophie followed him as he walked out to the road and started a long walk to the main town.

Aaron and Sophie reached the main gates as the sun was setting. Aaron was tired, sweaty, and dusty, and Sophie was about the same. The guards at the gates looked at them suspiciously but let them through nonetheless. Aaron looked around the town and was impressed. Everything was made of wood; wood buildings, wood signs, wood fences, wood everything. There were a serious amount of books everywhere. Little cases filled with books stood at random around the streets and libraries were scattered everywhere. Most of the people were reading and a small portion of them were hurrying around, probably anxious to get a book themselves. The townsfolk all had pale skin and were slim. Quite like the boy they were looking for. "Looks like you were right about your theory." Aaron commented. Sophie beamed.

No that they were close, Aaron could use his acute senses to track the next person. He instinctively turned right to a big mansion sitting awkwardly on the street. Wild flowers and trees surrounded the grounds and a small dirt path  wound its way to the main entrance. Several more mansions sat near the one that Aaron was fixated on, but Aaron was already striding towards the first one. "Um, Aaron? Are you really going to just knock on the door and be like; "I need your son for a really dangerous quest that may or may not be right that could also kill your son," are you?" Sophie asked, grabbing his arm. "Well, that's what I did with you." Aaron replied, and continued his way to the front door with Sophie arguing the whole way.  "They're not gonna like it if you drag they're son away! You might be arrested!" Sophie snapped. Aaron ignored her and rang the bell. Right away, a maid with a black and white dress answered.

"Hello! What have you come for, sir and missus?" The maid said, curtsying to the two. "Um..." Aaron wasn't used to such courtesy. He was just a country kid! Luckily Sophie saved him. "We're here for the son of this household, miss. We're his friends." Sophie executed a clumsy curtsy that Aaron was going to tease her about later. She glared at him. "Ah, do you mean Mr. Kallios Hydren? He is rather busy right now." The maid said, frowning slightly. "I wasn't aware that Mr. Hydren had friends....." Aaron and Sophie glanced at each other, stuck. "Urm, you see, he doesn't talk much about us. And we're here for a, a school project." Aaron stammered, making the statement sound more like a question. Sophie snickered. "Oh, alright. Please come in." The maid gave their dirty clothes a look before stepping aside. Aaron and Sophie quickly went in and the maid shut the door. "Mr. Kalios is in the room at the end of the hall. Just make a turn to the right at the next intersection and then a left at........" The maid went on a elaborate explanation of the first floor that neither Aaron nor Sophie followed.

"Got it? Please make yourself comfortable." The maid finished. She left a bewildered Aaron and Sophie at the entrance and went who knows where.  "Let's just go, shall we?" Aaron said, and cautiously stepped forward. It felt rude to step on the clean pristine floor with dirty shoes. Sophie nodded and they set off.

Five minutes later, Aaron admitted that they were very lost. All the hallways and corridors looked the same, and all the doors were identical. "We don't even know how to get out!" Sophie flung her hands up. "We are so dead."

A sound made Aaron whip around, and he saw the boy. His black hair was up in a ponytail and his silver eyes were rather bloodshot. He scrutinized Aaron and Sophie with a suspicious expression. "Who are you? How did you get in? And why did you come here?"
