Chapter Twenty-five

Dedicated to ntlpurpolia❤❤

Drink deeply of the pleasures of this God. Experience for yourself the joyous mercies he gives to all who turn to hide themselves in him. --Psalms 34:8 (TPT)

There really was no doubt about it: God was good and will forever be good. The goodness of God was indeed something to shout about. And Posi was more than glad to do the shouting and rejoicing.

Her mum and herself had spent the better part of the weekend just enjoying each other's company and talking. Even Funmi and Gerald had popped in at some point to see her mum. And she was glad to see that they all got along so well.

Smiling, she remembered her mum's departure that morning. It was so amazing to see that a relationship she had always thought she could do without, had turned into one she craved for.

Posi and her mum stood in an area of the Ajah Motor Park, as they waited for the Sienna vehicle to fill up. They gisted and laughed at the various comical interactions between the passengers and drivers.

One passenger in particular had luggage that seemed humanly possible to travel with, especially since there were other passengers with luggages, and still wanted to pay the normal seat price. The driver refused to put her load in the car and an exchange of words ensued before she finally agreed to pay a little extra.

As soon as the 'manifest' was brought out for the passengers to fill, the drivers and their conductor began to hurry their passengers into the vehicle. Posi's eyes glistened with unshed tears as she held onto her mum's hands.

"Oh, my darling," her mum cooed, wrapping her arms around her. "I'll be back soon ehn. Don't cry, my big baby."

Unable to speak, Posi nodded her head and returned the hug. "I miss you already, mum."

"I miss you too, sweetheart."

"Óyá óyá, e wolé màmá (Come on, come on, go into the car, woman)," the driver shouted suddenly jarring both Posi and her mum back to their surrounding.

Posi glared at the driver with her classic glare. The driver just turned his nose up at her and made to slide the door shut where she was still standing.

"Se e rii mii ni? (Didn't you see me?)," she screamed at the driver.

As the driver made to give her a reply which was sure to be insulting, her mum stopped him and hugged Posi one more time. "I'll call you as soon as I arrive at home, ehn. Love you, dear."

"Yes, ma. Love you too. Have a safe trip."

Posi glared at the driver one last time, before she moved back to allow him shut the door. The other passengers urged him to hurry for them to begin the journey and off they went.

Posi waved at her mum till she was out of sight.

Posi still had a smile on her face. God was indeed giving her her heart's desires as she sought Him first. Now, she had His love which was most important. She had reconciled with her mum. And she knew every other thing about her life was going to fall in place.

After some minutes, she heard her door open, without a knock.

There's only one person who enters my office without knocking.

"Babes!"

Yep. It's her.

Looking up, she rolled her eyes at Funmi. "You need to know that this is my office. You cannot enter without knocking."

Funmi wordlessly began to look around the office, behind herself and even opened the door before shutting it again.

"Urm, what are you doing?" Posi asked.

"You don't know? I'm looking for the person you were speaking to. Because I'm so sure it couldn't have been me." She pointed at herself.

"Gosh, you're so dramatic. I don't even understand how we became friends." Posi shook her head.

"Yeah. Yeah. That's what you say everytime but you absolutely love and adore me," she said, clicking her tongue. "Now, is that how to greet someone you absolutely love and adore?"

As Posi made to glare at her, she responded, "Don't even think about it. I know you think your glare is scary. But babes, it just makes you look adorable and cute."

Posi facepalmed. She absolutely disliked when Funmi used her annoying baby voice with her. "What will I do with you?"

"Love me, feed me, never leave me," Funmi replied, pleased with herself.

"You just have a reply for everything, don't you? And who quotes Garfield these days?"

"I do. So, how's my favourite female bestie doing today? How's mummy too?"

"I'm your only female bestie. I'm good. And mum arrived at home safely." Posi stood as she walked towards her friend.

Funmi definitely had something up her sleeves and she had come to her office to accomplish her mischief. "So?"

"So what?" Funmi looked at her with so much feigned innocence that someone would have thought her name was Innocence.

Rolling her eyes, Posi said, "Why are you here?"

Funmi gasped, placing her hands on her chest. "What do you mean by why am I here? Do I need to have a reason to come visit my best bestie? You have hurt my feelings."

"Yeah, right. What do you want?" Posi asked dryly.

"Okay. Okay. You caught me."

"Mmm-mmm."

"So, how's your bobo?"

"And who might that be?" Posi asked, with her brows raised high.

Funmi rolled her eyes. "Mr Tayo, of course. Like," she said exasperatedly.

"When did I tell you I have a bobo? And he is most definitely not my bobo, or whatever that means. He's my good friend."

"Mmm-mmm. Last time, you said he was your friend. Now, he is your good friend. At least, we are making progress here."

"Oh, shut it!" Posi exclaimed, making Funmi squeal in laughter, like an evil step-mother.

Funmi's laughter continued even when a knock was heard. Posi gave her a pointed look that said "Now, that's what you should have done" to which Funmi snorted.

"Yes, come in."

Toyin with all her pink bubbles of joy flounced in, all smiles. "Hello, ma. You have a delivery."

"I do? Okay. What's it?"

Posi watched as Toyin giggled and stretched a food pack towards her. With a quizzical look at Toyin to which Toyin shrugged her shoulders, she collected it and dismissed her.

"What's in it? Who sent it?" Funmi said suddenly, making Posi jump.

"Gbeborun," Posi muttered. Funmi pouted. (Busybody)

Opening the pack she already recognized as being from Bites 'n' Chops, she saw her favourite foodsnack and a note.

"Ooooh. It's your small chops. Who sent it?" Funmi asked, almost jumping up and down on the sofa.

Hi, Posi
A little something to snack on.😉
–Tayo.

This guy has added doing unnecessarily sweet things to his folder. She smiled.

"Wawu! It's from your "good friend". This should move him to "very good friend" status," Funmi said with her eyebrows wriggling in that annoying way.

"I'll smack you now. Oya, come and be going. I have work to do."

"Yeah, right. Abi you want to call your "good friend"?"

"You're annoying."

"But you love me," Funmi cackled. "Won't you call him to say thank you?"

"What's your own there?" Posi glared at her.

"Huh. Okay o." Funmi adjusted on her seat. "What I really came for was to remind you about our dress shopping next week. I know the wedding date seems far off, but I'd prefer to shop for them early."

"Okay. No problem. I'm so happy you guys are finally knotting the twine," Posi gushed.

"It is tying the knot, silly."

"I'm allowed to use my own words, aren't I?"

"Yeah, right, Queen Posi."

Still giggling, the two ladies continued to gist about what needed to be done ahead of the wedding.

********

"So, when will the construction materials get to the site?" Tayo asked.

"From the contractor, he said in about a week." Kazeem tapped on his tablet.

"Okay. Please, let them know we need this job done on time. And ensure they buy the materials from our trusted supplier."

"Yes, sir."

"That wi--" His ringing phone interrupted him. He checked to see it was Posi and a huge smile made its way to his face. He had tapped on the ACCEPT icon when he saw Kazeem still seated.

As he placed the phone on his ear, he waved his hand to dismiss Kazeem.

"Hello, Tayo."

This honey-like voice.

"Hey, you. What's up?" He said as he relaxed in his chair and swivelled it to face his window.

"I'm good. You?"

"I'm good too. How's your day been?"

"Oh, good too. All made better by the small chops you sent. Thank you."

"Oh, it's nothing. I just thought you'd love to snack on something. And I remembered how you were so enthusiastic about B 'n' C's small chops."

"Lol. Okay o. Thank you. Also, when would you want your frames delivered?"

"I'll come pick them up on Thursday around closing time. And we could even go to church together. Is that okay with you?"

"Oh, yeah. Sure. Alright, see you on Thursday. Take charge. Bye."

"Later."

Tayo was certain he had a goofy smile on his face but he didn't care. He began to hum Tauren Wells' God is good.

"Wa to the wu. My boss has really been gotten."

Kazeem was still seated when his boss had begun to swivel in his chair and he hadn't missed the huge smile on his face either.

My boss is on the precipice of love and he is about to free fall into the ocean of love. I sure hope he can swim.

Kazeem snickered as he went about his duties.
