Chapter 59: Doomed

Chapter 59 — Doomed

November 24, 2015. Hollow Point, Northern Pack Lands

Fallon Morrow

There was blood spilled everywhere. The sharp metal stench assaulted my nostrils. Soiled from top to bottom, body parts scattered around, heads slashed and tossed aside. The scenery was simply gruesome to look at. The ground was red like fire. It was everywhere. On the grass, on the leaves, everywhere. Even the drizzle couldn't wash away the reek. It was chilly, and the blood stuck against the chilled mist as I walked forward to look around the hollow, desolate surroundings.

My stomach dropped. Bile churned and acid bubbled up my throat, and before I knew it, I was retching whatever was in my stomach from the pure sight of it all.

It wasn't common to see so many dead bodies, so many. And most of them were in their wolf forms.

My heart jumped at my throat as my phone rang. I took a look around before picking up the call.

"Where are you?"

"I came to Hollow Point," I replied instantly before turning around. "Where are my parents? I can't find them here, or anywhere."

"I found them. They are the station, doing okay," Dom answered, nearly, in his serious voice. "You should come here."

I took another glance around before nodding, "I'll come. Give me a couple of minutes."

When the phone call dropped, I drew in a deep breath and closed my eyes. I felt a bit relieved, knowing that my parents were okay. I hadn't spoken to them for over three days, not a word. Gideon had held them hostage and a part of me believed that he may had done something to them.

But he hadn't and I was grateful for that.

I started sprinting into the direction of the station which was a long way from Hollow Point. I came here thinking that they'd be here, among the other wolves and Gideon's warriors. But, the one thing I hadn't expected, I encountered, were piles upon piles of dead bodies scattered all around.

I couldn't even tell who were who as it was the middle of the night.

When I reached the station, there was blood at the entrance, too. The place seemed emptied out, devoid of anything. Whoever was here was probably dead.

I gave Dom a look when I saw him and his hands which were covered in blood. He stepped closer to me with sweat dripping down the side of his face.

"Don't stand there and judge me. I saved your parents," Dom uttered. "Go on. See them. They're doing pretty good."

"Where are you going to go?" I asked him before he left.

"Gideon's warriors are still around and the fight hasn't stopped. But I'll return with my head intact, don't you worry."

"I—have you seen him?"

"Not yet. Best if we all don't until he has Gideon's head," He gestured for me to go inside, "Now, go see them. They've been mumbling your name like crazy these past few minutes."

When he left, I stood there for a moment, gathering my thoughts. I hadn't seen Cassius since last night. It's been almost twenty-four hours. I was a little freaked out about him. I believe the last time we spoke was when I told him about my parents. After that, I did see him occupied with Victor in that room in the manor but I didn't say anything.

The next night, I didn't see him at all. The room where Victor was, was locked and Cassius was nowhere to be found.

Even this morning.

He had to be somewhere in Hollow Point. Those bodies, dead wolves, were his doing. I was sure about it. That was something only he could do.

I went further into the station and found my parents sitting in a corner. They both stood up and Mom wrapped her arms around me in tight embrace. She pulled back and grabbed my shoulders. Her eyes teared up. It had been a while since I had seen her, or Dad, or anyone.

"I'm so glad you're alright," Mom uttered as she let her grip soften. "We were so worried."

"I know, Mom."

I glanced over at Dad who was silent. His arm had a gash and it seemed quite deep from the look of it. There was no blood but it still did worry me a little.

"Dad, what happened? Who did this?"

He shook it off, trying to appear that he was alright. But he still shifted around. It had to be painful. There was no way it wasn't.

"He got into a brawl with one of the officers when we got here," Mom answered for him as she gave him an admonishing look. "They were so rough, too."

"It's okay now," I said, hoping it would give some relief. "We should probably go home. It's not looking good outside."

I wasn't entirely sure if they were aware of what was happening, or what had already happened. Either way, they were going to find out about it very soon. Most officers that were in the station were either gone or dead. When we left, there was no one who stopped us or asked us anything.

My parents' car was parked right across the station and it had been sitting there for a couple of nights now.

I got inside with them in the front, taking the wheel. My dad's arm was injured and I doubt Mom was okay to drive. And I knew about the routes that were safe for us to use and routes that avoided us crossing Gideon's wolves, the ones that were on his side.

There were sides now.

When I reached outside my house, I looked up at with a heavy ache in my chest. The events that took place made my heart tear apart. It was just right across this street where I killed someone and I hadn't thought about that until now.

My phone buzzed again, this time quietly.

"I'll be inside in a moment." I said, getting out of the car to attend Dom's call.

The streets were empty. There was no one outside their house. Everyone stayed inside, choosing neither side but fate. Most of the wolves in the pack were dependant on fate than anything else. They'd bend for whoever the strongest turned out to be.

In simple words, they'd settle with the one who would beat the hell out of the other. I imagined it that this was not the first time it had ever happened in the pack.

I went next to a tree and picked up Dom's call.

"What is it?"

"Where are you?" He questioned.

"At home," I said, looking at Mom and Dad as they left the car and went inside. "What's wrong? Did something happen?" My heart raced a little. I didn't want to go there but my mind still.

What if something happened to Cassius? What if he wasn't strong enough?

"It's not good," Dom started, "Can you get here?"

"Where?"

"Hollow Point."

I inhaled deeply, "Yes."
