Chapter 66: Second Kill

December 5, 2015. Grimstone Manor, Northern Pack Lands

Fallon Morrow

"Ironic how things turn out, isn't it?" He spoke, voice so coarse, "I find it so amusing how you can live with someone who's actually crazy without ever questioning him. Isn't that strange to you?"

"I wouldn't describe him as that."

"Maybe it hasn't got to you yet, I guess," He paused, his eyes fixing on my face. "But he was destined to be a monster. That's what he is. You know nothing of him except of what he shows you. No one can ever truly know him."

"You certainly know him well, don't you?"

"I know more than you do."

"I don't think so," I shrugged and added, "It's not difficult to know someone's past. Not when it was you who tortured him endlessly. Don't underestimate my intellect. I know you, I know what you did with him. And I have a pretty good imagination considering what you did to me."

"You have fallen for him," He chuckled, painfully. "Doomed then."

"Maybe."

I paced around the room, not telling him anything else. It wasn't going to make any difference now. Nothing would. And saying anything further would only waste my time. And I couldn't waste a lot of time.

I had to do this.

I couldn't hesitate or think too much about what was right or wrong. I had done horrible things in my life, so I believed that this wasn't bad. That bad.

It had to end anyway—at one point.

There was no harm in ending it earlier.

I reached down beside him. He looked at me, having no clue what was about to happen. And it was better like that. The amusement on his face disappeared the moment my claws dug into his throat.

He spluttered. "Wha—"

"Be quiet."

He blinked and tried reaching out, maybe to grab me and stop me, but he didn't. He wasn't able to.

I tore my claw deeper and deeper into his skin, feeling his pulse throb under my fingertips as his warm blood dripped over my hand. His mouth gaped, trying to say something. Anything. He didn't succeed.

It took me a few minutes to realize that he wasn't breathing anymore. He wasn't moving, his eyes were still. He was—dead.

I had killed him.

My insides tingled. My heart pumped fast as my brain began registering the weight of my actions. And then, it hit me.

It had to be done.

It had.

I pulled my hand away and remained crouched next to him for a few minutes, waiting and waiting. He didn't breathe again.

Stepping up on my feet, I glanced at my hand, looking at my palm covered in thick, red blood. My lips quivered. I had killed him. Victor Crow.

It wasn't like I hadn't killed someone before. I did. And it wasn't Dom. It was Liam, a passerby who I just killed that night.

This wasn't worse, was it? Was it?

The more I tried convincing myself that I had done the right thing by killing him, the more I realized that it was still wrong, still different. This time, I had acted out of anger and hatred. Even if my reasons were good.

But did he deserve it?

Yes.

The bright lights outside of the room blinded me. I blinked hard, adjusting to it before I locked the door behind and rushed up stairs back to Cassius' bedroom. When I reached there, my hands were slightly shaking. The water was still running in the bathroom and when I took a peek, he was in there, still.

I quickly removed my shirt and wiped the blood down before removing my pants and tossing all the dirty clothes on the side.

I let my breath out before stepping into the shower. The hot water ran over my hair, my face, shoulders and back. I flinched a bit when it fell over the shallow cut on my neck.

Rough hands pulled me closer until I stood flat against him. He was naked, from head to toe and he had water droplets on his shoulders and face. His fingers pressed harder on my waist, massaging my muscles lightly. I shuddered at his touch.

"I was waiting for you," He leaned down closer and whispered, "Turn around."

Shivers shot up my spine the moment I felt his tongue flicking over my left ear. His grasp on me tightened before I let out a slight squeal when his fingers dug into my thigh. I winced, feeling the jolt of pleasure strike me.

"You were?" I asked.

"Of course," His teeth grazed at my jawline while his fingers travelled over my thigh and cupped my ass with one hand. "I was wondering why you took so long."

Because I was busy killing.

"Well, I just thought, maybe I shouldn't disturb you."

"You wouldn't," His hand reached behind my neck as his thumb brushed over the bite mark on the side of my neck, "Anytime."

He dropped his head over the crook of my neck and pressed his lips onto my skin. A rush of warmth swept through me before I could feel his erection jutting on the back of my ass. He let go of my waist and ran his index finger between the apex of my thighs.

I shuddered.

"Don't you like that?" He said in a rough, seductive voice, putting more pressure over the edges of my swollen folds.

I whimpered.

Without thinking any further, I swirled to the side. I had no idea why but my body was betraying me.

"What is it?"

His eyes were lust-ridden, pupils dilated. Without delay, I stood straight and said, "We should talk."

"About?"

"Something," I gulped. The quicker it was off my chest, the better. "Outside."

It was coming to me, all of it. The panic, the fear, the nervousness. I needed out. Fast.

When I reached outside, I changed into different clothes and waited for his to do the same. Once he was done, he came to me, wanting to know what was it in my head.

I fiddled with the edge of my shirt.

"I did something," I said, looking up at him while I remained seated on the bed. "Maybe I shouldn't have or maybe I should've a lot earlier."

"What is it?" He stepped forward, squaring his shoulders. "It bothers you."

I stood up and met his gaze, "I killed Victor while you were here."

His brow twitched.

I waited. There was a rush of nerves prickling through me. I had no idea how he was going to react. And I wasn't certain it was going to be the positive one.

But he didn't.

He didn't do anything. He didn't say anything. His face was stern. His lips didn't even crack. He was hard to read.

"I can explain why I did that. If you want me to."

"You—did what?"

I swallowed hard, "I killed Victor."
