Chapter Twenty One

The first thing I see is the wooden leg of a desk, then two legs which I find belong to Adrian Volkov. Confusion swirls through my brain until the rest of the setting kicks into place. I'd fallen asleep on Roza's couch at Volkov Designs. Great, the night before a big event and I'm cooped up on a chair.

"Good morning," he says.

"Hi." I rub the sleep away from my eyes.

"I can enjoy some quiet now." He chuckles.

A small blush creeps onto my face. I can't believe I was snoring last night, beats drooling I guess. I get off the couch and stretch my libs out before checking my phone. I have five missed calls from the course of the night and a dozen text messages from Alex.

I shoot Adrian a brief smile and walk out into the hall. I dial Alex's number and wait for him to respond.

"Where the hell have you been?" he practically shouts.

"I'm sorry."

"I got to your apartment last night and you were nowhere to be seen, where are you?"

"I fell asleep on the couch at Volkov Designs, sorry for worrying you." I'm surprised I managed to sleep considering the nerves permanently settling in my stomach.

"Okay." He breathes out a sigh of relief, "Ava is going to drop my suit at your apartment and then I'll meet up with you later. Are you leaving from Volkov Designs?" he asks.

"Probably, yes," I reply.

"Have a good day, I'll see you later."

"Bye."

I return to the room and Adrian doesn't say anything, he just continues with the dress. From where I saw it last night, it looks much more like a dress now that the panels of fabric have been sowed together. From the deep purple bags forming under his eyes, I can tell this has been a late night job.

"Coffee?" I ask.

"No, thank you," he declines.

"Sure? I really don't mind getting you something."

"When you put it like that." He fishes for his wallet, but I shake my head.

"Coffee on me, and I don't take no either. What do you want?"

"Long macchiato topped up, please."

"Hm, sounds caffeinated," I tease.

I quickly gather my belongings and head off towards the street. I'm not sure about coffee places, but I assume there would have to be dozes laying around this place. For an early morning, there's still a nice hum of people traveling. I weave in between them and I look around for somewhere to get coffee.

Before walking into the building, I slip my mask on. It's bustling with people, all running around perfecting orders before delivery. I walk in and find Lucy and Adrian silently sitting around. I hand Adrian his coffee and take a seat on the couch.

"Hi Lucy, sleep well?"

"Perfect." She smiles happily.

A loud scream comes from the door way, I snap up and find Porsha and Ava standing in the doorway. There's a mask of shock and horror floating on both of their faces.

"Is that my dress?" Porsha runs over to Adrian to inspect it, while Ava rubs her ears.

"Almost finished." She continues to scream, which makes everyone uncomfortable from the loud noise. I step in and wrap my arm around her shoulder, which quickly shuts her up.

"Why don't you let Roza and Lucy help you with your hair and make-up?" I palm Porsha off to those two. They get up and lead Porsha out of the room and off to another one.

"Are you okay?" Ava asks, "You look a little..." She waves her hand over her face.

"Yeah." I bite my lip. "I ended up falling asleep on the couch. I really need to shower and resembling less of a homeless person. Can you check to see if my family has arrived?" I ask.

"Sure, but what about Porsha?"

"Roza and Lucy can handle her for now. She won't be leaving this compound until we leave in that limo."

"Okay!" Ava quickly hurries away to check while I gather my belongings.

"Sienna." The sound of my name coming from Adrian's mouth is dreamy. I have a sneaky suspicion that anything he could say would have the same effect. "You can shower at my apartment, it's nearby," he offers.

"Really? What about the dress?" I ask.

"Just needs to be fitted, but Rozaliya can handle it." He genuinely smiles.

"Sure, beats running to mine." Adrian walks out of the room, then shortly returns with a satisfied look on his face.

"Let's go."

Adrian is right, his apartment is two streets away from Volkov Designs which is easy to walk on foot. The exterior screams wealth and sophistication, which is different. We head inside and I follow Adrian through the building without saying anything. When we get in the lift, it's hard to avoid the sight of myself. Tangled hair, flushed cheeks and crinkled clothing.

The elevator pings and opens. We walk to his apartment and he lets us inside. The whole place has the same feel as the house I visited for Roza's party. It's decorated in the same cream palate, but there's just a small different which makes it more, Adrian.

"There's only one bathroom, just through the doors there." He points to a door just to the right on the far wall.

"Thank you." I try not to look around too much on my walk to the bathroom, but the new surroundings are interesting. Considering how reserved Adrian is, being at his apartment felt exciting.

I walk down the hall and notice that the first door opens to a grand bedroom. I step inside and allow myself to look around the space for a brief second. The large bed is pressed up against the wall with two matching side tables. To the left is an open refined wardrobe section filled with suits, while the door on the right leads to the bathroom. I step inside and lock the door.

There's towels tucked under the sink and an assortment of shampoos in the shower. I hope they aren't all musky, no amount of perfume can cover that smell up. I undress from my clothing and slip inside the shower. I turn the taps on and then survey the soaps and shampoos. Most of it is for men, but nothing smells musky. Once I've finished, I step out and towel dry my body and then redress in my clothing.

When I step into Adrian's bedroom, I find him standing by his wardrobe changing his clothing. He's doing the belt of his dress pants which makes me glad I didn't walk out earlier.

"Ready to leave, Sienna?" he asks.

"Sure."

When we arrive back at Volkov Designs, it's just Roza and Porsha with her dress on.

"You look stunning!" I compliment, "You're going to show me off."

"Thank you." She squeals happily.

"Where is Lucy?" I ask.

"Gathering some supplies for you," answers Roza.

"Thanks. Have you decided on your make-up Porsha?" I grab one of the roller chairs and sit with them. Porsha tells me about the make-up that she and Roza have planned. Within decent time, Lucy arrives flustered but has my make-up and accessories for the dress. It's getting late into the afternoon so I'm glad to start getting ready.

"Do you need help?" Lucy asks me.

I shake my head, "I'll be fine, thank you."

I retreat to the dressing room and start organising myself. I sit on the ground in front of one of the mirrors and start applying my make-up. I get halfway through my make-up before Adrian appears at the doorway once more.

"Do you mind?" he asks.

"Come in." I stop mucking around with my eyeshadow in favour of turning around to face Adrian. I standing up and smile at him expectantly.

"I made you something." He hands me a half cut face mask which is stunning and matches the dress brilliantly.

"Thank you, but why the half?"

"Half you, half Sienna." He eyes off my little set up.

"Can you do it better than me?" I ask.

"It saddens me that you doubt my skills." He chuckles, "But I have had experience, make-up artists aren't always the most reliable. Pays to be self-sufficient." Adrian and I sit back on the floor and he takes the make-up from me.

We don't talk. Adrian has a prominent hard look sprawled across his face from the level of concentration he's bestowing upon my make-up. He switches between colours and brushes and he fills in my make-up to match the half mask I'm wearing. I don't realise how much time has passed until Roza appears at the door.

"Ready for your hair?" I look at Adrian, but he doesn't mutter a word either. He brushes some powder against my cheek before putting everything down.

"Perfect," he mutters under his breath.

"Thank you." As I turn to look at the mirror, Adrian's hand catches my chin and forces me to look directly at him.

"You have to wait for the complete piece."

I roll my eyes, "Fine."

Without sneaking a look at the mirror, I walk into the next room and let Roza play around with my hair. She lightly curls the end of my hair and does a half-up do with a pretty clip I managed to find one of Lucy and I's shopping adventure.

Porsha is the first one to be ready and standing in front of me. She's got a glowing look on her face. Her dress is beautiful. A tight fit around her chest, streams of material running down to her toes and a bow shaped thing that runs across the front of the dress and around her arms.

"You look beautiful, Porsha." Her brown hair is in tight ringlets that frame her face. Her make-up is soft yet enhances her stunning brown eyes.

"You're going to look wicked in your outfit as well," she replies.

"Almost done with your hair too," pipes in Roza, "And done." She finishes the last touches.

"Thank you, I'm going to get dressed now." I get up from my seat and race towards the change room, but Adrian's body is blocking the way.

"Close your eyes." He instructs.

I do as he says. His hands wrap around my arms and guide me inside the room towards the change room. When I'm inside, I hear the curtains close and I'm left to change by myself. I scramble out of my clothing and tug on fresh underwear, then my dress.

Once I'm ready, I call out to see if anyone can do the back of the dress up. The curtain is moved to the side and Adrian steps inside. He zips the back of the dress up and then instructs me to turn around.

"Perfect," he whispers once more. "Are you ready?"

"Nervous," I reply.

Adrian steps out of the change room so that I can walk out. Now that my outfit is completed, I, myself, am blow away from the state of me. I have to look twice to see if it's really me staring back.

"Shit," I mutter. "Is that me?" I spin around, drinking in all the small details. Adrian has done an amazing job with the make-up and even added in small fake jewels to add onto the patter of the mask.

"Don't doubt yourself," he reminds me.

"Thank you," I say over my shoulder, "for everything."

"You're welcome, Sienna." Adrian and I clean up my mess in the change room before we walk back to Roza's office to store my belongings. Roza and Lucy light up with excitement as they see me.

"You look stunning, man I'm so jealous of you," says Roza.

"I can't believe you're wearing my dress. You and Alex are going to look adorable on the carpet together, and so are you Porsha," Lucy adds.

"I'm sorry you can't come." I frown, "But the after party is going to be way more exciting." I grin.

"Roza and I are already planning on what we're going to wear." They smile happily.

"I'm glad."

"Alex messaged, and he's on his way over here. We need to take a billion photos before that happens though." We all leave Roza's office and follow Roza and Adrian to another place in the building that allows us to take photos.

I have a photo with both Roza and Lucy first, then add Porsha. I have a few single photos, and then added in different mixes. Roza pushes Adrian in front of the camera so she can take a picture for his look book of the mask he made for me. Part way through the photos, Alex turns up and we take more.

"You look beautiful," he whispers into my ear as he wraps his arms around my waist.

"You look charming yourself." I smirk.

At the very end, we take one group photo together and pull funny faces.

"We need to leave," announces Alex. This new information sends Porsha into a whole new round of excitement. Roza gives me my clutch bag and wishes me luck.

We walk outside and escape towards the waiting limo with Archer and a few other security detail.
