Rant
Can I just rant for a bit right now?
And the subject is.... *drum roll*
Book/ Movie differences. No, I could write a whole book on that.
Top 10 Scorch Trials Book/ Movie Differences
I can work with that
1) Opening scene-Instead of opening in the dorm room thing, they open with a flash back and then they're still in a helicopter.
2) Number of gladers-In the book they start out with 20 gladers. (counting Teresa) In the movie, they start out with 8. (Thomas, Minho, Newt, Fry-Pan, Teresa, Winston, Jack, and one other person we never learn the name of. (Although, in the Death Cure there's a boy named Jackson))
3) Rat Man- In the books, the gladers call Jansen the Rat Man until they learn his real name in the Death Cure. In the books, he is introduced as Mr. Jansen.
4) THE ENTIRE REASON THEY ARE IN THE SCORCH!!!!!-In the book they are being tested. In the movie they escaped and are looking for the Right Arm
5) The cranks-In the book, the Flare is highly contagious, air born, and doesn't change your outward appearance. In the movie, you get it by getting scratched by a crank and it basically turns you into a cannibalized zombie with plants on your face.
6) Winston's death-In the book, Winston dies in the thunderstorm. In the movie, he kills himself to keep from becoming a crank.
7) The Right Arm-In the books, the Right Arm doesn't show up until the Death Cure. In the movies, they show up in the Scorch Trials.
8) The people in the scorch-In the books, the people in the scorch are all cranks. In the movie, they are cranks and healthy people.
9) Thomas isn't shot-In the books, Thomas is shot in the shoulder by a crank that get's called Blondie. In the movie, this never happens.
10) Teresa's betrayal-In the books, Teresa betrays the gladers by pretending to be with Group B, kidnapping Thomas, and convincing him that she was gonna kill him. In the movies, she takes a walkie-talkie Barkley was using to contact Jansen and tells WCKD where the Right Arm is. And she's not pretending.
Bonus!!) The final battle (I would so see that movie!)-In the books, the gladers and Group B girls (along with Brenda and Jorge) fought a bunch of monsters that you defeat by smashing the bulbs all over their bodies with whatever they have and they are taken on a Berg because they had successfully completed the Scorch trials. In the movie, WCKD attacks and they fight them with guns and WCKD takes all the immunes they can to who knows where.
(For those of you who were looking for "In the book it's spelled WICKED and in the movie it's WCKD," I would have put that, but that's more top ten Maze Runner book/ movie differences.)
The story isn't really based on the book, the characters are, and even that isn't completely accurate.
