Chapter 13

Alex and I haven't talked about the kiss yet.

Brittany and I sure have though.

We talked about Danny and I too.

Let's just say we're both very conflicted.

2 days ago:

"So he kissed you?!" Brittany squealed

"Well um yeah, but there's something else."

"What else is there?!"

"Someone else kissed me too." The image on the computer stayed so still I thought it had frozen, and then she exploded.

"What?!?!?! Who?! When?! Where?! Why?! But the most important question, how?!?!"

"Well he kissed me. He, as in Alex, one of the boys that live here. When, yesterday. Where? In his room. Why? I have absolutely no clue. How? Well you're going to have to be more specific."

"How as in like, a slow kiss? A passionate kiss? What did it feel like?! Which was better- Danny or Alex's?"

"It was just a kiss I guess."

"Abby you're impossible."

"What? Why?" Sometimes I did not understand this girl at all.

"What did it feel like?"

"I can't put it into words."

She sighed and then thought for awhile. "Well who's was better?"

"Just based on one kiss?"

"Yes." Which one was better? That was a hard question. I think it's better worded as which felt more right?

"Danny's."

"Really?"

"Yeah, it kind of felt more personal, I guess. With Alex it was more a spur of the moment type deal."

"Have you talked to either one of them?"

"Well I've talked to both of them, just not about the kisses. Danny knew it wouldn't work, so there's really not much to talk about. Alex though, I have no idea what's going on."

"Well what happened after you guys kissed?"

"He looked really happy about it. We talked a little, he said I was a great kisser and-"

"He said you were a great kisser?!"

"Yes! But-"

"That's so awesome!"

"I know right? But like I was saying after we talked for a little while it seemed kind of like he got really scared."

"Scared? Why?"

"I don't know, he just told me to not tell anyone we kissed, especially his brothers and Isaac."

"Oh. Well okay then, that is a little weird."

The Present:

There was a knock on my door and I saw Jeremiah come in.

"Hey sweet thang." He smirked at me from the doorway where his elbow was resting.

"Have you been recently watching The Sweet Life of Zach and Cody?"

"What's that?"

"Oh you poor deprived child."

"Honey, I'm not deprived. I live in a mansion, and I want you to be my queen." He came into the room and sat on the bed, way too close to me.

"Oh brother." He put his finger on my lips.

"Shh. Don't speak. Enjoy this moment."

"What moment?"

"Shhh."

I pushed his hand away, "Listen Jeremiah, you're a nice kid and all but-" He quickly shot up and kissed me on the lips.

"Jeremiah!"

"Love you baby!" He ran out of the room with the biggest smile on his face.

"Well okay then."

"Woah! Hot girl!" A voice said from the hallway.

I looked up to see a light blonde haired boy come in with blue eyes. Then another boy who almost looked exactly like the first walked in.

"You must be the twins." It was scary how much they looked alike.

"Elijah, or you can call me your secret admirer." He grabbed my hand and kissed the the top it. What was with these boys today?

"Well it isn't a secret anymore." The second boy chuckled.

Elijah looked thoughtful and then said to me, "My love for you is no secret."

"Obviously." The second boy said.

"Shut up Josey, you're just jealous because you can't get a girl as easy as me."

"I'm really not, considering most of the girls you get are just as abnoxious as you." They bickered back and forth for awhile before Josey shoved Eli out of the way and held out his hand for me to shake.

"I'm Josiah, you can call me Josey. Sorry about my egotistical idiot clone of a brother, he doesn't have a filter."

"Hey! I do to have a filter, it's not my fault she's hot."

He looked at Elijah and then back at me with raised eyebrows. "My point."

I laughed, "It's alright, I'm Abby."

"So you're the girl that's living with us now?"

"Yeah."

"Awesome." Elijah winked at me. Wow, Lianne was right, I hope Jeremiah doesn't turn out like him either. From what happened earlier though I think it may be too late.

Josey rolled his eyes and pushed Eli out the door, "See you later."

"Bye."

I leaned back on my bed once again, thankful for the peace and quiet.

Then there was a knock on the door.

So much for that.

"Come in I guess." I called, not bothering to move.

"Abby?" A small voice said

"Hey Gracie." I sat up again and looked at her.

"I like your room." She said looking around. It pretty much looked the same as the first day I had come here, but yesterday I had unpacked my stuff and decorated a little bit. My three huge suitcases were now in my walk-in closet. I hadn't brought much with me to decorate with, just a couple pictures and a painting Brittany had made me years ago. A thought occurred to me then.

"I actually think it's kind of boring."

"You do?" She asked. She sounded confused.

"Yeah, we should spruce it up a little bit."

"Spruce?"

"You know, decorate it more. Make it look nicer."

"Can I help?" She asked excitedly.

"I have a better idea."

~°~°~°~°~°~

"Please." I begged

"No."

"Alex, please."

"No way. I'm not going shopping with you and my 6 year old sister."

"You don't have to go with us, just drop us off and I'll call you when we need to be picked up."

"Still no, that's too much work."

"I'll give you twenty bucks."

"It's my dad's money." He said rolling his eyes.

"Well would he give you twenty bucks for no reason?"

"If I asked enough."

"Well no asking here. I'll even buy you a donut or something."

"Fine." He held out his hand and I put the twenty in it. "I expect it to be sprinkled."

"Done." Boys were so easy to bribe.

"When do you want to leave?"

"Right now."

"Well let's go then."

"Gracie, he said yes!"

"Yay!" She jumped out of my closet where she had been waiting, a huge smile on her face. She grabbed her little tiny purse and put it around her shoulder before jumping up and down in circles around Alex. Her ginger pigtail braids were bouncing along with her.

"Shopping! Shopping! Shopping! We're going shopping!"

Alex looked at me pointedly, "You knew I was going to say yes?"

"I had a feeling."

~°~°~°~°~°~

"This is the biggest mall in London I think." It sure wouldn't surprise me.

"Thanks Alex. Gracie, say thank you."

"Thank you!"

"Anytime, have fun. Call me when you're ready."

"Alright." He drove off.

"Okay, you ready?" I asked looking down at Gracie.

"Shopping!" I grabbed her hand and we walked inside.

"What are the rules again?" I asked her

"No running off. No talking to strangers. No whining."

"Got it?"

"Yes! Now let's go shopping!"

We walked into what seemed like a craft store and went to the decorations. Gracie wanted almost everything pink, but luckily she toned it down when I said that pink wouldn't match anything in my room.

Going from store to store with a six year old was exhausting, but I learned a lot about her.

"Kenny is my favorite brother."

"Really? Why's that?" I can't really picture Kenny being good with little kids.

"He's really nice and plays with me. When my others brothers are mean he yells at them too."

"Wow, what does he play with you?"

"He plays dolls and doctor and he colors with me." Wow, I'll have to ask Kenny about this.

"Who's your favorite brother?" She asked me as we went to Cinnabon.

"I don't have one yet."

"Okay." We ate by the fountain and ten minutes later I completely regretted giving her a bunch of sugar. No one warned me about this.

As we were getting ready to leave she started bouncing up and down and pointing at a store called Mariana's.

"That's my favorite store! Can we go in? Please please please please please please?"

"Sure I guess so." She dragged me into the store and I looked around in shock. Half of the store was for little girls while the other half looked like it was for juniors and women.

There were clothes everywhere and Gracie found a really cute pink sundress.

"Can I get it?"

"Sure." She found a pair of silver sandals to go with it and then we went over to the junior section.

"I think you'd look really pretty in this one." She pointed to a white sundress with purple patterns and flowers on it.

"It's cute."

"You should go try it on." She pointed to the dressing rooms.

I made her stand in the corner while I got dressed.

When I was done she beamed at me. "You look so pretty!" I looked in the mirror and saw that it did look really nice on me.

"Awh thanks! I should bring you clothes shopping with me all the time, you have great taste." As I said this I saw her yawn.

"Are you ready to get going?" She nodded

"Alright well we'll get this stuff and then I'll call Alex, sound good?" She nodded and turned back around.

After we had paid for our clothes and gotten Alex his sprinkled donut we went outside to wait for him.

He came about fifteen minutes later.

"Is she asleep?" He asked getting out of the driver's seat. I handed him his donut, "Thanks."

"No problem and yeah." After we had come outside she climbed into my lap and has been out since. It was adorable.

"Awh, look at you." He said and I smiled at him as he grabbed our bags and put them in the trunk. I stood up with Gracie, careful not to wake her up, and buckled her into her car seat.

Alex came around and opened the passenger side door for me, which I almost forgot was on the right side, and I slid in.

"Thanks for driving us."

"No problem, you hungry?" He bit into his donut and smiled.

"A little."

"What do you want to eat?"

"I don't know, surprise me."

About half an hour later we pulled into what looked like a pizza place and I heard a very tired Gracie stir in the back seat.

"Where are we?" She asked through a yawn.

"Raman's." Alex said and he quickly plugged his ears.

"YAY!" She let out an ear piercing yell and I clamped my hand over my ears as well.

"It's her favorite restaurant." Alex said looking at me. "Sorry, I should've warned you."

"It's alright." I opened my door and went to the back to unbuckle Gracie. She jumped out of the car and started dancing around. I grabbed Gracie's hand and Alex led us into the restaurant. We found a seat and Gracie started coloring on the kid's menu.

"What kind of pizza do you want?"

"It doesn't matter."

"So is pepperoni okay?"

"Yeah." The waiter came and took our drink and food order.

"So this could be considered a date if we didn't have a six year old with us." Alex said chuckling

"I guess so." I smiled and we lapsed into silence which is weird for us, we still haven't talked about the kiss but I didn't want to bring it up with Gracie here. She probably hears a lot more than we think. The waiter came and brought us our pizza.

"So I know you said you were an only child but what are your parents like?" I choked on the water I had just taken a sip of.

"What?"

"Your parents, I haven't heard you mention them."

"Oh um well, I don't like talking about them."

"Why?"

"Because I haven't seen them in a long time."

"Oh." I'm glad he didn't push me

We ate in comfortable silence other than Gracie talking on and on about a bunch of random things.

When we got home Gracie ran into the house and Alex grabbed the car seat, sitting it down inside the garage. Stephan must've gone home. I grabbed our bags out of the trunk and waited for Alex.

When Alex was finished he surprised me by taking my hand in his and leading me inside the house.

But we didn't go to my room, we went to his. I set the bags down right inside his door.

"I think we need to talk about something." He said really quietly.

"What?"

"This." He put his lips on mine and immediately started moving them. I was shocked at first but soon I found my own lips moving with his. Butterflies erupted in my stomach as he gently pushed me against the wall and put his arms on either side of my head. He pulled away just barely so our lips brushed together when he talked.

"Can we keep going?"

"Not too far." He nodded and smashed his lips against mine. This kiss was more passionate than the last two, more fast paced.

He wrapped his arms around me and walked backwards. I walked with him and laid down on the bed. He hovered over top of me and I felt his tongue trace my bottom lip.

"Alex." I gasped

"It's okay." He whispered in my ear. He then kissed below it and continued kissing down my neck.

"Alex." I think he finally got the message because he came back and kissed me on the lips. His free hand roamed from my arms, down to my stomach, and then finally to the inside of my thighs. He moved his hand around to my butt and then back up and started running his fingers through my hair.

I don't know how much time passed when he finally pulled away and flopped down next to me on the bed.

I was breathless and in complete shock about what just happened.

"I'm sorry. I've just been wanting to do that so bad." Alex finally said

"It's okay."

A long time passed before either of us said anything else.

"So what do you want to do?" He asked. I looked at the clock, it was only 11 p.m.

"I don't know."

"Let's watch a movie." It seems he didn't want to talk about what just happened.

"A movie sounds good." I said to appease him. As he put in the movie I noticed he was frowning and the whole time he had a thoughtful expression on his face.

"What's wrong?" I asked as he came to sit by me. He started the movie and shrugged,

"Just thinking."

"About what?"

"A bunch of stuff." I decided not to push him and just turned to watch the movie.

Sometime later I fell asleep and I vaguely remember being carried to my bedroom.

"Goodnight Abby. I'm so sorry." The voice sounded far away and really sad. I felt a hand move my hair back and someone pressed their lips to my forehead.

I curled up and went back to sleep.

When I woke up I was in a really good mood for some reason. I wondered why.

Oh wait, I know why.

I made out with Alexander Meyers last night.

I couldn't help the giddy feeling in my chest as I walked downstairs to go get breakfast.

In the kitchen was a pan of cinnamon rolls but Lianne was no where in sight.

"I don't think we've officially met." A voice said behind me and I jumped.

I spun around to see Chris standing there.

"I'm Chris."

"Abby."

"Sorry about the first time you saw me, I was having a rough day. I promise I'm not usually like that." He chuckled

"It's fine." I smiled at him and then looked around to see where the plates are but didn't see any.

"Do you know where the plates are?"

"Yeah up here." He reached into a high cabinet and his shirt lifted up really high to expose his waist. I couldn't help myself in looking and immediately regretted it. Just below his waist line there was a line of perfectly cut scars.

"Oh dang." He quickly pushed down his shirt but the damage was done.

"Chris I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-"

"I'll talk to you later."

"Chris-" He left the kitchen without another word. I'm such an idiot.

I sulked up the stairs and was about to knock on Alex's door but I heard yelling inside. I didn't mean to listen, I just kind of froze.

"You promised!" That was Isaac I think.

"I know it's just I couldn't help it!"

"Alex you know how much this meant to me." Isaac's voice got scary quiet. "I'm sick of this Alex, we're done."

My arm got a mind of it's own and reached up to knock on the door, ignoring my brain screaming at it to stop.

Alex swung the door open looking so sad and guilty. I wonder what happened.

"Who is it?" Isaac came into view and when he saw me he threw his hands in the air. "Oh bloody hell. Bye Alex." He grabbed his bag and stormed out the door, pushing past me in the process.

"What was that all about?" I asked Alex. He looked at me, then at where Isaac had just been, then back at me before slamming the door in my face.

"Alex!" There was no answer. I tried opening the door but he had locked it.

"What the heck Alex?" I pounded on the door a couple times before giving up and storming down the hallway. I didn't know exactly where I was going, but somehow I ended up in an art room of some sort.

I let out a scream as something moved behind me. I looked to see Josey, or at least I'm guessing it was him, sitting at an eisle by the door.

"Hey there."

"Hey."

"You seem upset."

"I am."

"Why?" He looked genuinely curious

"Because I just saw and heard something I wasn't supposed to see and then a door got slammed in my face and now I'm being ignored."

"Well then."

"Yeah." This was definitely Josey.

"Want to talk about it?"

"I don't know."

"Well what's your favorite color?"

"What?" That was a random question.

"What's your favorite color?"

"Purple, why?"

"Just wondering. Do you like flowers?"

"Yeah, I guess so. Why?"

"What's your favorite flower?"

"My favorite flower?"

"Yes."

"Um, a lily I guess." It was one of Aunt May's favorite flowers.

I felt myself involuntarily tearing up. I pushed the thought of Aunt May to the back of my mind, not here.

Josey set to work and was quiet for a long time while he painted, I looked around the room and surveyed his artwork.

It was all really amazing. A lot of his artwork had blue ribbons on them and he also had a couple framed pieces of paper with words scrawled across it, probably some of his stories.

"Done."

"With what?"

"Your painting." He handed me the artwork and I gasped. It was a mixture of yellows shooting out like rays of sun. In the right hand corner there was a purple lily and written across the whole thing in neat cursive lettering were the words "Keep your head up. -Josey"

"It will take a little while to dry so you can keep it in here and come back to get it tomorrow." He smiled sheepishly. I gently set the painting back on the eisle and wrapped my arms around Josey.

"Thank you." I whispered

"Anytime. I'm always here."

Sorry about the late update guys. I hoped you liked this chapter, the ending is one of my favorite parts I've written so far.
