Chapter Four: Caught
"Thing is I am still stuck here being your best friend while i am falling in love with you more and more each day."
~Unknown
"Oh mama, what do we have here?" A familiar voice called out, very amused indeed. Kevin quickly removed his hand from Victoria's forehead as they both inched away from each other.
"Oh, ummm— Damiano, I didn't know you were here." Victoria felt her cheeks flushing yet again, as she recognized the voice of Damiano Vincitori one of her closest friends and fellow agency member.
"Clearrrrly not. Verrrrrrry sorry to interrupt, I shall be moving on." Damiano said grinning cheekily, his Italian accent more noticeable then it actually was. He saluted Victoria and Kevin, and was about to leave when Victoria grabbed his arm and pulled him to a stop.
"First off there was nothing to interrupt, I was just talking to Kevin about a few things." Victoria gave Damiano the death stare, which would have stopped many people, but Damiano wasn't most people, instead of noticing the dangerous ground he was trending on, he went on.
"Precisely my dear Tory, you were talking to Kevin about a few things, and I do hate to interrupt." Damiano grinned wickedly at Victoria.
Victoria was wondering what she did now, that he had to make this so awkward, and then realized she had ruined his date about a few days ago by 'accidentally' spilling milkshake over his so called date.
"I told you a billion times don't call me Tory!" Victoria said annoyed. "And come on, Damiano that was weeks ago!" Victoria looked pleadingly at him.
"Weeks! How about 3 days!" Damiano exclaimed.
"Whatever, stop being such a baby about it."
"I'm the being the baby? Are you really gonna go there?"
"Yes I'm, and besides she was going to dump you anyways. So in a way I did you a favor."
"A favor! A FAVOR?"
"Yes, a favor and you're very welcome."
"One of these days, child you gonna get it." Damiano said seriously more or less.
"In your dreams."
"NO in YOUR dreams."
"Nope, yours."
"Okay. Just hold on a second here. Stop it both of you!" Kevin interrupted the squabbling pair. "I have no clue what you two are talking about and I really don't want to know, so can you two please stop arguing." Damiano and Victoria both stopped, and suddenly started cracking up. Poor Kevin looked utterly confused. "What's so funny?" he asked.
"Nothing, just the fact Diana was trying to catch your attention by jumping up and down and she slipped and fell in the pool." Victoria barely managed to get the words out of her mouth, for she was laughing too hard. Kevin turned around and quickly went to help Diana. Damiano and Victoria finally managed to stop laughing when Victoria grumbled,
"So much for him never talking to her again." Damiano was about to comment about the fact why she cared, but changed his mind.
"Were we really fighting about dreams?" Victoria asked thinking of their one thousand and ninety eight arguments.
"We my dear friend need a life." Damiano replied as he swung his arms around Victoria shoulders.
"My dear friend speak for yourself. " Victoria took of Damiano arm off.
"Well what do you have planned for today?" Damiano asked.
"I'm going to get someone to fix my tent, and then I'm going to the edge of the woods, where some unusual activity has been reported."
"So that's why you came." Damiano raised his eyebrow at Victoria.
"Well—I also came to see everyone." Victoria looked away guiltily.
"Mmm hmm... Anyways do you want me to go with you, the reports that came in sounded a bit dangerous."
"Oh, come on D! I can handle it, stopped acting like I can't take care of myself geesh. I am called 'the Vixen' for a reason." Victoria said as she rolled her eyes and wondered when he was going to stop treating her like a little kid. As they walked up to Victoria's poor excuse for a tent Damiano voiced his thoughts to her,
"Shouldn't you be good at putting up tents? I mean we've probably done it a billion time by now, what with our little 'Assignments'."
"Oh shut up, I am missing a piece or something. These tents are so much more complex then the ones we use." Victoria grumbled as she kicked at a piece of canvas cloth.
"Keep telling yourself that and maybe you just might believe it." Damiano replied grinning.
"Ugh shut your face my, heads killing me." Victoria groaned.
"Who told you get so many 'Juices'." Damiano said unsympathetically refering to the new booster that the Agency had brought out. The 'Juices' if taken in enough quatities and queit frequently helped the drinker get Stronger, Faster, Smarter and etc. Depending one which ones you took. "I told you over and over again if you get too many at once your body can't suppress them."
"Well is there a better way to get stronger, faster, smarter?"
"Yes, and it's called training."
"Yes but think D, with the training and the 'Juices' you can be even stronger!" Victoria insisted.
"Vic listen to me!" Damiano turned towards her and placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it gently. "Once you start taking the 'Juices' everyday you become addicted to them! And worse then that you can't live without them!"
"That isn't proven yet." Victoria replied stubbornly. Damiano sighed frustrated as he removed his hand from her shoulder and clenched and unclenched his hands.
"Ugh, I wish Ronan was here to talk-"
"Well he isn't." Victoria interrupted frostily. "Now if you will excuse me." With that Victoria walked away.
"Why is life so complicating?" Damiano mumbled and wished for the millionth time Ronan was here.
8O So how did you like this chapter? Who do you think Ronan is? And why did Vic get so mad when Damiano mentioned him? What do YOU guys think of all this?
