For the past few days, the alleged Ladies of Pleasure and I follow the same schedule, waking up, getting ourselves ready, and doing whatever chore we are given.

Upstairs is out of the picture. The only reason for us to be up there is if we are called up for sexual relations or to clean.

I should be glad I'm not in danger and safe away from the creatures. But I still find myself worrisome.

Two days ago I was sent upstairs to mop the halls, a frail redheaded girl named Joan mopped with me, she spoke of Azrael and how he was her first love.

Joan and I separated to clean more, that's where I saw Azrael. He whispered to me, "room 308." Then kept heading to wherever he was going.

So right now I'm heading up to room 308, as it is my mopping day. Joan follows me up the stairs and down the hall with a bucket of water in hand.

"Have fun," Ronan says behind us pulling a girl into a room with him.

Joan giggles, "Ronan is really sweet, he just has a hard way of showing it."
She turns down a different hall rolling the bucket of water beside her.

I'll pretend Ronan didn't try to kill Azrael, the guy she claims as her first love. I watch her leave, and once she is further away I hurry down the hall reading the room numbers.

306. 307. 308.

I knock on the door but there is no answer, I turn the cold metal doorknob and roll the bucket of water inside with me.

It's a bit colder in here than the halls, and it's empty. In this dimly lit room, there is just a bed, and bookshelves. I must be in the wrong room, I turn back to the door.

"Avila?" Azrael says behind me, I turn around to face him.

He stands there shirtless. I glance at his muscles, then my eyes quickly dart up to his dark brown eyes. He's smirking.

And I realize I've dropped the mop. Now my heart is pounding.

"I like this haircut on you, and I'm sorry about your neck." He says turning around to the bed, he picks up a black long sleeve shirt and pulls it on.

I quickly lift the mop and balance it against the wall.

"Also why are you acting as you've never seen me shirtless?" Azrael says walking back over to me.

I smirk and roll my eyes. Then we both look at each other simultaneously as we hear his dad walk by speaking. We press our ears against the cold metal door and listen.

"Just bring it through the weapons room back door." Azraels dad says the footsteps head away from the door.

We wait a few minutes in silence, which was just Azrael pretending to open the door and scare me.

We finally decide to head out, "are we following him?" I ask.

He nods, we hurry down the hall to a large black door, we go down the stairs to an opened gated door, from what I can see holds a few weapons against the walls.

Knives, handguns, rifles of all types. And drawers that must have their parts, and ammo.

I hear voices from the other side of the room, as we walk over past all the weapons, the room changes as we turn a corner to a much larger area. It's filled with wooden crates piled onto eachother, and a huge white van parked inside.

White van.

"Is that a van?" I whisper.

Azrael looks as surprised as me, "yeah it is..."

We sneak over to a large stack of crates we can hide behind.

We peeked our heads out, and across the large room, there is a giant opening straight to the outside. The evening sky peaks in. "Our exit," I whisper.

I squint my eyes as movement over there catches my attention, "Azrael is that-"

"Yes, it's one of the creatures," Azrael whispers.

The Boss stands there watching a group of guys pulls in a rarely large creature who seems to be unconscious, or dead.

"Is it dead? Or knocked out? How did they do that?" I whisper looking up to Azrael.

"It's knocked out, and all I know is he tradespeople." Azrael answers.

"What do they need it for?" I ask, I look back at the other room we came from where all the weapons are at, all we have to do is distract them and we can leave right now.

"They fight them." Azrael laughs, "It sounds stupid cause it is. People rarely survive."

"What's the point?" I ask, trying to comprehend the fact that they set themselves up for death.

Azrael shrugs his shoulders, "I honestly don't know."

The guys drop the creature onto the floor, and The Boss looks back at us. We were quick enough to pull ourselves behind the crates.

Azrael turns to the guns, "We can leave—"

"—We just have to distract them," I say finishing his sentence, he nods.

"Azrael!?" The Boss shouts.

"Shit," Azrael whispers.

"I can get the guns," I say stepping back.

Azrael shakes his head, "No they didn't see you. Just go back, I think we can sneak out tomorrow, meet me in my room."

Azrael steps out from the crates and walks over to the guys, I slip out of the room.

Shit the mop and water.

"Dad?" I say walking over to him.

"Boss." He corrects smiling, "Remember when we would bring in those creature fucks?"

"Yeah I remember," I answer glancing down at the creature.

"Well, we are deciding to bring that game back." My dad looks down at the creature and shakes his head, "Disgusting fuck. And you're gonna be fighting it." My dad finishes.

I look up at him shocked, "what why?"

A strange smile forms across my dad's face, "is that not why you were creeping over there? It can be welcoming of sorts."

The silver car I'm in passes a few more beautifully crafted buildings before coming to a stop at our enforcement's base. The streets are more rounded by the wall so it's easy to drive beside them.

A few news vans are parked as their reporters stand outside on the steps of the militaries station.

I step out the car, Reagan and Dorian exiting from the other side, I ignore the flood of reporters running over to me and quickly head up the stairs.

Dorian stays behind answering any questions they have, a few I can hear.

"Why are you guys here at the military base? Is something wrong?" A lady asks.

Of course, someone must've leaked that we were heading here.

Dorian chuckles causing me to turn around and wait, "Well no, actually-"

I am already annoyed, "actually." I interrupt walking over.

"We are just doing some more patrols on the wall, and checking if it needs any touch-ups." I answer staring at Dorian, Reagan's eyes don't leave her tablet as she types in what I said for later.

Dorian gulps and nods, I roll my eyes and continue back up the stairs to where I'm met with a tanned guy in grey and green camo.

"Hello Ms. Siobhan, the rest of us is waiting inside." The young man states.

Finally respect.

"Thank you, and your name?" I ask following him, I hear Dorian and Reagan enter behind me.

"Matthias." He says turning around to shake my hand.

Before Dorian even finishes clearing his throat I speak, "that's Dorian, and my assistant Reagan."

He smiles with a nod, then he continues off to a room where more men and women sit in the same uniform. They all stand up when I enter, I nod slightly so they can sit back down.

"So from what I've heard we are heading out the walls, but not for kids?" Matthias asks, a few in camo nod.

I trust these military officers much more than those simple guards who pick up children. Those simple guards can't go up against guns.

"Yes. So for a few years, I've been searching for this girl named Avila. I found her, and many of us in the HQ was able to watch her through the cameras on the streets. But she's currently in danger. So we're going to retrieve her, and she needs to come back alive." I say.

Reagan hands me a flash drive, I walk up to their electronic desk and plug it in. Images of Avila pop up.

"That's Avila," I say as it automatically scrolls to another image of her. Then Azrael.

"That's Azrael, they're pretty close to eachother. We can use that against her if she doesn't work on our terms." I say.

"Before I go on, any questions?" I ask turning to the men and women, Reagan continues typing on her tablet. And for that second she annoys me.

"Do they know how to use weapons?" A guy in a far corner of the room asks.

I nod smirking, "they live outside the walls, of course, they do. Not even for a minute should you forget that."

"You can ask me more on the way there." I say turning back to the screen, "Now this is the plan." I tap the screen on the electronic desk.

I hurry down the hall with the mop and water, the buckets weak wheels shake as it rolls.

Someone behind me grabs me and pushes me against the wall. It's Ronan.

"Look who it is," Ronan says, I squeeze the mop.

"What do you want?" I mutter rolling my shoulders back against the wall.

"I want to know how you feel, no gun, no knife. Nowhere to run. In here you follow my rules. We own you." Ronan spits out, I look away until his hand grips my neck.

Ronan smirks angrily, "that ink on your neck is the reason The Boss owns you."

The ink every girl here has.

He's not aware that I don't give a shit about what's on my neck.

Ronan rubs his thumb against my skin, then lets go of my neck, then I feel something sharp sliding up the side of my leg as he leans over. I glance down it's my dagger. He slides it higher raising my dress.

His hand slides down my back as he presses himself against me. I can feel the dagger slowly pressing into my leg drawing blood. I bite my lip to forget the pain.

I look away. Don't knee him in the—

"Ronan! It's time for us to go! You aren't allowed to be with us before lights out!" Joan shouts from down the hall.

Ronan pulls the dagger back and puts it in a sheath at his belt.

He steps back and puts his hands out for me to leave, I head down the hall quickly following behind Joan.

"Thanks," I whisper.

Joan nods, "No problem, I know he can get a bit..." she stops herself, "my apologies we aren't supposed to talk bad about them."

"No, you should," I say laughing.

She's silent, "I should've never interrupted him."

I stare at her, "he shouldn't have that power over you..."

"True but... don't let one bad guy ruin the rest of us. Is your leg okay?" Joan asks handing me a napkin.

I raise the dress to look down at my thigh, a trickle of blood slides down. I dab it, "yeah I'm good thanks."

Micah has no idea where she is leading us, I know she really wants to find her dad.

But minute by minute Devon gets more frustrated with her.

We walk down the street, looking for another place to stay, there are no market sanctuaries around.

A grumble warns behind us, we all turn around quickly. Jeremiah pulls out his rifle, walking closer to the creature for more accuracy.

That's what he claims.

It's peeling, burnt like the skin is visible from where we stand, and it still has a few patches of clothing on it. It just turned.

Usually, that breaks my heart, knowing that, that creature was just a living person... And is now... well that.

Micah grabs onto me making me grasp my rifle tighter. I can't help but shake every time a low growl escapes the creature, it just stares at us until Jeremiah pulls the trigger.

Its body hits the floor, and Jeremiah turns to us unfazed.

"We need to sleep." Devon begs, "I need my beauty sleep, I don't look this good by luck."

I swear all Devon does is complain and sleep.

Jeremiah nods, "okay, but as soon as it's daylight we are finding Azrael and Avila."

Jeremiah looks down At Micah, "Yes and your dad."

Micah smiles as she squeezes my hand.
