interview + one
What better way to start the interviews off than interviewing myself (that way everyone knows what they are getting into).
Name: Ruby (or Rubbeh)
Age: A number between ten and twenty
Reason behind username: I have a crush on Johnny Depp, kay? I love him. I was obsessed with the movie he starred in, Dark Shadows, for a very long time, so I was like "hey, why not change my user to that". So I did and I haven't changed it since.
Idol in the MDC: I have a few idols. Those being Ashihara, Forcade, crowlaid, WeAreAHurricane and travestea. I have so many more that I stalk 24/7, but I don't want this to be filled completely with graphic legends. And to say I will faint if I ever meet any of the people I stalk in person, is putting it lightly.
What kind of graphics you make: I usually make covers and blends, but I will make the occasional thread layout.
What prompted the beginning or your designing career: Well, its a pretty long story. When I first joined Wattpad, I had this really friendly person welcome me and offer to make me a cover for the one book that I had posted at the time. She made me the cover, and my reaction was along the lines of "oh my gosh, that cover looks amazing. Can you show me how you made it?" The girl gave me the link to picmonkey (that seems like years ago now) and I started my long journey as I skipped down the manipulated brick road that lead to the MDC.
How long have you been in the MDC: I have been in the MDC for a little over a year now. I think... I dunno. I have a really bad memory
What annoys you the most in the MDC: I'm sorry to say, but dealing with people who are relatively new to the MDC frustrates me to literally no end. The questions, the way how they aren't patient, and most of all, explaining to them that a payment isn't a money transfer to a bank account.
Best example: Shown in the media to the right
What is the best thing about graphic designing: Meeting all the amazing (and not so amazing) people and designers in the MDC is probably the best thing about it.
How did you discover Wattpad: One day I realized that I had read every book in my room, so I got very bored. I got onto Google and searched 'free online books' and BAM. Wattpad was the search result at the top of the page. I didn't actually create an account until my second or third month of reading on Wattpad.
Which do you prefer, writing or designing: This is actually a really difficult question. I like both equally
Aspiring message to all your fans (make it good): This may sound really familiar, and it probably is, but anyway, I'm going to say it for the 50th time.
Everybody has a different design style. I know I'm probably repeating something that has already been said by twenty different people, but when you find your own style, its only the beginning of your graphic making career. And even though it sounds really easy, copying someones style/design is extremely hard. Use every resource that is given to you, whether that be textures or tutorials. Make friends as you go, cause you will form friendships that will last you a life time. And last but not least, have fun doing what you do. If you don't enjoy it, don't force yourself to do it.
Wattpad Dictionary no.2
Payment (n.)
A requirement some designing fairies and elves have when they make someone a graphic. No, it isn't money, but a simple favor, such as a follow, dedication, a comment on one of their books or a credit in the summary of your book.
