Awkward Encounter
I gaped for a few moments. I didn't know that Jackson had a sister! I try to run past without mbeing noticed but then I hear a voice call my name. It's Jackson. Jackson runs over to me, leaving his little sister alone by the swings. How responsible. "Hey, Tara." He says.
"Hi." I say, with absolutely no smile and roll my eyes. This is the thing I least wanted to happen today. "What are you up to?" He asks, looking me up and down.
"Running," I say, "what does it look like?" I roll my eyes again.
"Hey!" He says. "Don't be like that,"
"Why shouldn't I?"
"Because I said so." He says it like he's a three year old trying to ask you to steal a peice of candy for him.
"Well, I say that I should be leaving," I say. I start to take off when Jackson grabs onto my shirt. "Let go, will ya?" I say, squirming to get free.
"No," he says, "You and me are going to chat out why you decided to break up with me. Right now."
"Fine," I say, "I decided to break up with you because I don't like you like that. At all. You are like the exact opposite of me." I try to leave when Jackson grabs on to my shirt collar again.
"You know what they say," he whispers to me, "Opposites attract." I turn around and Jackson starts to lean down to me to try and kiss me, but I push him away quickly. I punch him in the gut and he topples over and starts wheezing as he's kneeling on the ground. "I told you, I don't like you like that," I say, menacingly, "And you will never try to kiss me again. You understand?"
"Yes, ma'am." He mutters in between wheezes. I run away and his little sister comes running. I look behind me and she gives me a thumbs up. She must not like him much either. I run back home and go up to my room. I pull off my sweaty running clothes and change into a t-shirt and jeans. I walk back downstairs and turn on the TV. A few seconds later, my phone buzzes. It's a number I haven't seen before. The text says, "hi, this is Jackson. I know you didn't mean what you said at the playground. I know you were just kidding. I'm making us a couple again. Come meet me at the Pizza Plaza at 6:30. If you're not there by 7, I'm going to come over to your house and pick you up myself. Kapeish? Text back soon <3. I nearly barf in my mouth. Jackson really thinks I wasn't telling the truth about me not liking him? And he's making me go out with him? Well, I will be there before 7 because that would be awkward if my parents answered the door and saw him there. This was going to be the dance all over again. But this time, I'm gonna be fierce and tough on him. No trying to let him down easy. Jackson is crossing the line. The only thing is, I can't tell Jason. He knows I've broken up with Jackson, and it's going to be hard to explain why we're back 'together.' This is a secret operation. And nobody can know what is going on.
