Twelve year old Alex was very excited to finally go to school with the other kids in the village. She had been begging day and night to be rid of her tutor and learn like everyone else, not receiving special treatment. Not only was this her first day of school it was also her first day out of the castle none of the villagers had ever seen her before so she fit right in with the other children with her disguise on. One girl stood out to her she had very dark indigo hair that looked black but if caught in the light just so its true color showed. She wanted to call out and talk to her, but didn't want to blow her cover. After school she saw the girl picking up a boy her age, and sprinted up to her with a very wide grin. The girl looked very startled and almost fell backwards only to be caught by Alex who was now a bit flustered. "Hey sorry about that I just love your hair I've never seen any color that's not blond, black, red, or brown it's really cool!" Alex said after helping the girl to her feet. The girl responded slowly after regaining her composure "T-Thank you, it's from my mother's side." She said with a very awkward look. Alex shoots her a grin "I'm Alexa- uhh I mean Alex, yep that's it I totally didn't almost forget." Alex laughed awkwardly. "Right..." the girl said slowly "I'm Raven." The girl nodded slightly, the boy pulled on her sleeve annoyed and rolled his eyes "stop flirting and come on I'm hungry." He groaned "yeah well so am we are always hungry get over it Jay" Raven snapped. Alex chuckled slightly "I can bring you something we have plenty of food" she said casting a look at the castle just so it wasn't noticeable. Raven turned to her wide eyed "you would really do that for us? We just met." She gasped "of course it's no trouble just going to take some talking, how about tomorrow?" Alex asked smiling still. "Or even better today where do you live I can drop it off." Alex said with a thoughtful look. Raven and Jay looked panicked "uh no tomorrow is better... mom needs us- right jay?" Raven said "yeah to go wash... the... roof- yeah that's it... the roof." Jay laughed awkwardly "don't all the houses have Thatch roofs though?" Alex asked perplexed. "Uhhhh y-yeah but we need to uh... change it." Raven butted in "oh ok tomorrow then" Alex nodded after an odd look at the two of them. Alex skipped back to the edge of town after a pleasant goodbye, and met the carriage that took her home. She bounced along with the carriage whenever it hit bumps in the road, smiling widely to herself. She leaned on her arm staring out the window with dreamy eyes "I think I love the village." she sighed softly leaning her head against the carriage wall. Once at the castle Alex ran from the carriage up to the door grinning very widely. She took her hair down while she was still running, and almost ran into multiple maids and other servants. "Sorry!" she called after each time, they were all used to it Alex had a tendency to not look where she was going. Finally she got to the study and threw open the door with a giggle and ran into her mother's arms, her father looking on from his desk with an amused smile. Her mother stumbled back slightly "so?" she asked. "I had the best day today!" she said still hugging her mother "really now? Why don't you tell us about it?" her mother chuckled picking her up and sitting her down on the desk. "Ok so the village is so amazing! All the smells and the noise it was so loud, I loved it!" Alex practically shouted at the top of her lungs. "Ah let's not bring that back with us ok?" her father chuckled "oh, sorry father" she chuckled sheepishly. "It's alright dear what else went well?" her mother asked. "Oh, right! The school had so many kids and there were a lot of different ages, but they were all boys" Alex frowned slightly "but its ok at least I can go." Alex said simply. "I did meet one girl, her name was Raven, and she had really dark black hair that looked purple!" she smiled "and she was really pretty." she sighed slightly. "purple hair?" her mother asked frowning slightly and looked at her husband "Silas you don't think..." she said quietly "no, I doubt that probably just the light" he said looking concerned. Alex was still talking paying no mind to her parents' conversation. "Can I bring them some food tomorrow they said they were hungry and we have plenty." Alex asked frowning suddenly, something she very rarely did. "Uh what do you think, Farah?" the king asked "hmm, fine you cannot tell them where you got it though. We don't want people at the gates expecting food." Her mother sighed after studying Alex's face. Alex brightened up instantly "it's a deal! Thank you mother!" she grinned hopping off the desk and hugging both her her parents in turn before running out of the room. Her parents flinched at a distant crash and looked at each other; her father holding back a snicker and her mother just shaking her head sighing. "I'll check it out." she sighed walking out. "She's fine just asked if the staff is ok" her father called "I know." Her mother said going out of earshot.
