~Wisdom~

Bree's Point of view~

Ten long years had passed since my sisters and I were born. I was sick of being cramped inside a castle, the dark walls made me claustrophobic. It was like being put in a jail cell, only you could have anything that you wanted. The activities that I enjoyed were practicing archery with my sister Jade, taking rides on my palomino when the leaves were falling, listening to mother read me poems at night and watching Willow braid my long midnight shaded hair.

My mother Natasha, told me that I should enjoy life when I was young. I still wanted to grow up quicker though, then mother would let me go hunting on my own! I swatted a piece of hair away from my face and continued to daydr eam.

"Now girls," Rosaline, my sweet rosy cheeked teacher babbled on.  "What is something every princess should know how to do?"

I rolled my eyes at her question as she pointed to Jade who let out a long sigh. It wasn't that Rosaline bored us, she was a very interesting teacher! But we had to sit through class everyday and it was beginning to get annoying.

Jade mumbled a few words that sounded like she had a frog stuck in her throat.

"Speak up dear, a princess should be proud when she talks!" Rosaline corrected Jade who was now yawning.

"Reading and writing."

"That's right! Now, it is rude for a princess to make impolite noises. Girls, have you been working on your poetry?"

Willow loved to write and Rosaline knew that, so she looked at Jade and I for an answer.  I gave puppy eyes to my sister, hoping that she would answer our teacher. I wasn't in a talking mood.

"Why should I write when I don't want to be a writer?" Jade asked.

I smiled at Jade and mouthed the word thanks to her. She winked in return. Jade was always a wild girl full of sass. Her bright orange hair stuck up in an array of patterns. She had green eyes that shot daggers your way if you sassed her back, but  she enjoyed a good argument.

"Oh Jade darling," Rosaline's soothing voice drifted off into the air. "A man will love you if you're beautiful and strong, but a man will respect you if you have wisdom. When you read a book or write a paper, you learn valuable lessons. Soon enough you will be as wise as the King of All himself!"

I heard a few Mm mms from Willow and Jade, I even did one myself. Sometimes Rosaline would make a point so clear to us that our eyes would open to the truth. She said that it was progress in the right direction.

Willow was a sweet sister, she always has an answer for my questions. She's especially smart with school and wants to study for healing and medicine. She gets stressed out easily if there is a problem, but mother is teaching her how to be at peace.  Willow has blonde hair and warm blue eyes. Mother tells her that she is blessed to be so beautiful, but she doesn't care about her looks. Just the other day, she told me that everyone is beautiful on the outside because we're all different, but only a few are pretty on the inside even though our insides are all the same.

I love my family very much! But sometimes they don't understand me. When I get upset, I need space. Most people need a hug or an "I love you." Only I wasn't like most people, my purple eyes showed that.  And I  don't mean that they showed a color, but they showed the truth. If I am hurt, there's a picture that wobbles around inside my eye and slips out in a multitude of colors. Mother thinks it is a wonderful attribute of mine.  I think it is peculiar.

I can't tell if I'll be tall or short yet, I hope I am tall so it will be easy to mount my horse. On special occasions, my father the King of Universal and I go riding just before it gets dark out. We sit under a large pine tree and wait for the stars to come out. I rest my head on his shoulder which makes my long black hair fall forward.

"Little angel, let me tell you a story."

"Mk," I  mumble as a small yawn pours out of my tired cheeks.

"Long ago, when the first King of Universal was on his throne, the world was in a much better way. Not everything was perfect, but life was  good. There were a few particular people born, and these people are the ones who will change the world. They might be royal." He let out a small smile. "Or they could be an average citizen. But no matter what kind of family they came from, they are the chosen ones. Challenges will stir in their hearts that they must try to defeat. They are the hope of Universal, the ones with purple eyes."

My breath started to slow; and my eyes swooped down shutting the world out. I didn't know how important of a symbol my eyes would be in the future. I didn't even know that I was meant to do great things. Soon enough, the memory of being a chosen one would turn into a reality, but not just yet.

I woke up from my daydream when Rosaline poked me with a pencil. Why does she have to interrupt my moment of happiness?

"Bree dear, it's time to go and see the portals!" She screeched with enthusiasm.

My heartbeat quickened. "Really?!"

"Yes! Come quickly now, collect your bag and lets be off!"

I grabbed a brown satchel and stuck my things inside of it. As I was moving my notepad, a piece of paper slipped out onto the floor. I picked it up, ignoring the persistent calls of my sisters and Rosaline.

Your heart is more then I could ever ask for,

So I'll just ask you one simple thing.

That when it's time to open up the door,

You will try your best to forgive me.
