The Creatures

So, essentially, I got this story idea from the song by Imagine Dragons, Warriors, and I really love it! So this book'll kinda be based off that! So here are the creatures that take part in the book! Most of them will be from different countries' legends, but some of them may have been created by me! And yes, I do understand that in most tales/folklores/mythologies that some of the Creatures of the Light are portrayed as dark, but I really like these creatures and would hate to see them die.

Creatures of the Light:

Naga: a member of a semidivine race, part human and part cobra in form, associated with water.

Naga: The Sanskrit and Pali word for a deity or class of entity or being.

Origin: Indian Mythology

Personality in the Story: They are very self-centered in the story, and only fight if one of their own is threatened.

Main Nagas and the Meaning of their Names

Pythius: Latin form of Greek Pythios, possibly meaning "to rot." In mythology, this is the name of a serpent killed by Apollo.

Pythius is the king of the Nagas, reining for almost four hundred years. He is a very good king, and protects all his subjects. They appreciate him, except for a rouge group of Nagas called the Synthesis.

Apophis: Greek form of Egyptian Apep, possibly meaning "to slither."

Apophis is the son of Lord Pythius, also being a very kind-hearted man. He is weaker than some of the others because of his kind spirit. He is the only Naga that will even remotely help another Creature of the Light.

Tatsuya: Japanese name meaning "dragon-assertive."

Tatsuya is a very very hotheaded Naga. He is always ridiculing Apophis for being kind, and dislikes his family very much.

Hydra: Greek name derived from the word hydor. In mythology, this is the name of a many-headed water dragon killed by Hercules.

Hydra is an impatient fool. She will never wait for what she wants, and when she does she's usually sick. She has to have it where she wants it and when she wants it, whenever she wants it.

Samael: In Jewish mythology, this is the name of an archangel, possibly meaning "Angel of Poison" or "venom of God"

Samael is a very evil Naga. He plots to kill anyone who stands in his way of getting to the throne, especially Lord Pythius and Apophis.

-

Fairy: a small imaginary being of human form that has magical powers, especially a female one.

Origin: European Folklore

Personality in the Story: They're very snotty and egoistic. They act like brats towards any other Creatures of the Light.

Main Fairies and the Meaning of their Names

Arethusa: Nymph.

Arethusa is the queen of the fairies. She doesn't usually do it very well and has to have many other fairies make decisions for her. She is hated by many and loved by little.

Faylinn: Fairy Kingdom.

Faylinn is Arethusa's assistant. She constantly makes the decisions of the kingdom and does it with full respect for her queen. She tries many times to put Arethusa on the right path, but the queen never listens.

-

Werewolf: a person who changes for periods of time into a wolf, typically when there is a full moon.

Origin: European Folklore

Personality in the Story: (Wolf Form) They aren't afraid and are very brave. They fight for what they think is right, and will go on a rampage if a Creature of the Light is even touched by one of the Darkness. (Human Form) They are very timid and shy. They hate to be touched by anything other than another werewolf. They flinch at the slightest of movements and are known for being cowards in this form.

Main Werewolves and the Meaning of their Names

Ulrica: Feminine form of Middle English "Ulric."

Ulrica is the Luna of the werewolves. She reins along with the Alpha, Raoul. She is large and white when in wolf form.

Raoul: Old French form of German Radulf, meaning "wise wolf."

Raoul is the Alpha of the werewolves. Reining for almost fifty years, he still seems young in his actions. When in wolf form, he is very large and gray.\

Kayla: Variants of Kay: keeper of the keys; pure. Famous bearer.

Kayla is a sweet young werewolf with a passion for all things fluffy. She loves sugary anything, and is too hard not to love. She is Raoul' s Beta.

Hunter: Hunter

Hunter is, in fact, a girl. She is very adventurous and is the Gamma of the pack. She loves to do a round of friendly roughhousing every once in a while.

-

(A/N: I'm changing the Chimera up a little to suit what I think should go with it.)

Chimera: a fire-breathing female monster with a lion's head, a panther's body, and a scorpion's tail, with goat horns atop its head.

Origin: Greek Mythology

Personality in the Story: They are very odd and has a fun personality. They loves to play and hates seeing the others do wrong.

The Chimeras and the Meaning of Their Names

Tara: Where the kings met.

She is very odd and has a fun personality. She loves to play and hates seeing others do wrong.

Alice: noble

She's very stubborn and gets annoyed easily. But, same as Tara, she loves to play and hates seeing others do wrong.

Creatures of the Darkness:

Dragons: a mythical monster like a giant reptile. In European tradition the dragon is typically fire-breathing and tends to symbolize chaos or evil, whereas in East Asia it is usually a beneficent symbol of fertility, associated with water and the heavens.

-----

A/N: OH SNAP! THE UNICORNS ARE EVIL. But yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a book where a unicorn was potentially evil....so yeah. I hope you guys enjoy the story from here and that you like my characters/descriptions!- AVA
