Chapter #2
Roisen felt like something was off. It was odd. Not a good feeling. Dad smelled weird. Like a stinky stuff that made him act weird. Azim smelled strange too, he emmitted a scent nobody else seemed to give off. He always did this though.
Azim was talking to dad in his room. He emerged from the bedroom with tears rolling down his cheeks. Dad looked cold and firm. Roisen's tail waged and she licked Azim's face as an atempt to cheer him up. This instead made him cry even more.
Roisen's eyes twinkled with a puzzled expression. She spotted Azim grabbing her favorite yellow ball, and Dad was opening the front door and went outside to start the car. Wait- to start the car? Car! We're going for a car ride! This was gonna be fun!
Roisen made her way into the front seat with excitement and joy. Car rides were always a bliss, you got to stick your head out of the car window, and feel the wind blow through your fur, and make your ears all floppy and then Azim would laugh.
But this car ride was different. Azim was quiet and sad. Dad was silent and mad. Roisen was confused and anxious. Surely she was just going to the vet, it wasn't that big of a deal... right?
They stopped in the middle of nowhere. Roisen knew that surely this was the middle of nowhere because she had never seen the place before, and nothing smelled familiar. Azim got out of the car, and closed the car door with a slam. Dad didn't look to pleased. Well, he didn't look very happy to begin with.
Azim opened the car door for Roisen's seat with one hand, the yellow ball was in the other one. She looked at the ball, hoping to play a game of classic fetch. She hopped out of the car seat. She could almost feel Dad burning holes into the back of her head.
Azim unexpectedly started to sob uncontrollably, and Roisen went to his side to comfort him with kisses and fluffy hugs. Instead he pushed her away, crying even more. Roisen was confused, that usually cheered him up. Dad rolled down the window and screamed at him. "Be a man Azim! Just get it over with."
Azim nodded, still teary-eyed and snotty. He wiped his face and held the yellow ball tightly. "H-here, Roisen." He said in between sniffles. He threw the ball a good distance away to the delight of Roisen, and she promptly chased after the yellow orb.
Roisen sniffed around, they had parked in the side of the road, and the grass here was messy and uncut. She made her way through sticky hitch-hikers and sunflowers until she found the beloved ball of bright yellow, and she proudly picked it up.
Roisen started to head back, following the scent of her past endeavors. She was very confused, not only had the car strangely dissapeared, but she was sure that this was the place that Azim had thrown the ball. Surely they hadn't forgotten about her, right? Maybe they would come back.
Roisen sat there, and waited. Minutes. Hours.
They didn't.
