Chapter 22
Sam P.O.V.
I was just so fucking mad. What kind of bitch did Mackenzie think she was, beating up my girlfriend? I wasn't going to let that damn drama queen get away with it. I had plans to find her and I knew exactly what I was going to say to that sleazy whore. I was just... I was so livid.
After comforting Taylor in a hug in the girls bathroom, we had headed to class together, sitting at our own desks which were only just across from each other. Mackenzie was sitting right at the front, while we were all the way at the back. All I could do for the entire lesson was glare at the back of her head, hoping that maybe if I stared long enough, it would light that ragged hair of hers that was apparently stylish on fire.
Practically jumping up from my desk the moment the bell rang for the end of the lesson, I picked up my bag and paced after Mackenzie, wanting to confront her in the hall. Like usual, she was with her two minion friends - one of them I had the displeasure of meeting when I had come to this school. The girl that was called... Isabelle or something. Growling under my breath, I went towards them with absolutely no fear. I wasn't afraid of them. "Hey, bitch!" I shouted, which not only caught their attention, but the attention of other students who turned to see the beef that appeared to be brewing out in the hall.
Taylor had decided to hang back, just watching the scene unfold with worry. She knew it was pretty cowardly of her, but she had already had to put up with too much trouble from Mackenzie and her goons. I didn't mind though. I would rather have my girlfriend hang back so I can protect her. It was what I wanted.
"Excuse me?" Mackenzie gasped as she glared back towards me with those long eyelashes of hers. Those eyelashes were so long, it made you wonder if she'd get swept away on a really stormy day, as they seemed more like wings attached to her eyes than they were false eyelashes. "Did you just call me a bitch?"
"No shit." I seethed. "You had no right to be ganging up on Taylor like that in the bathroom and beating her up because she's not apparently as straight as you! You're an absolutely horrid person who deserves to get their fucking ass kicked for the things you do. And if no one is going to step up and beat your ass into the ground, then it's going to have to be me who will do it!" I shouted at her.
Watching the commotion, some students starting "Ooo"ing at that, before others even began to chant at them to fight. However, the whole situation was soon stopped when a teacher stepped out in the hall in confusion, telling everyone to get to their classes and stop whatever was going on. Doing as they were told, some pupils began to leave, but I wasn't done. Before Mackenzie walked off, I grabbed her by her shoulder to turn her to face towards me. I glared right into those smug eyes of hers.
"You, me, at the back gates after school." I growled at her. "This isn't over."
"So, it's a fight you want then is it?" Mackenzie questioned. "Fine, but you're only going to end up making yourself look like an idiot when I kick your ass in front of everyone." She answered, before turning on her heel to storm off down the hall. I rolled my eyes, turning to see Taylor who managed a nervous smile before racing over towards me to pull me into a hug.
"Oof, easy." I joked, happily hugging her in return. Her grip only tightened around me slightly, which must've proved she was clearly nervous about the whole thing.
"Just... Be careful, okay? I don't want you to end up getting sent to hospital because of a broken nose." She muttered and I softly laughed.
"Please, once I broke Mackenzie's nose. I can easily do it again." I told her. "True, I could get suspended from school for a little while but... Worth it." I joked with a small laugh. "But then... Not totally worth it because then I won't be able to see you every day."
"I'll make sure to visit you after school every day then." She quietly responded with a quiet giggle.

I didn't really expect this fight to get as hyped up as it was going to be. But news clearly gets spread around fast, and before I knew it a lot of people I recognised from my year were gathered around to watch me and Mackenzie fight each other. Even people from the younger years had joined to watch. Taylor had came along with me too, hanging back in the crowd and seeming to wish me the best of luck. She didn't want me to fight, but she knew she couldn't change my mind. I was doing this for her, and I was going to make sure that Mackenzie would never hurt her again. Mackenzie wasn't the fucking queen of this school, and I was going to prove that, even if it meant with my fists.
"Finally, you're here." Mackenzie huffed with her hands on her hips. "What were you doing, dragging your feet?"
"Nah. I was just taking awhile hoping that maybe enough time would pass that you'd die of old age." I shot back. We stared each other down, glaring at one another and everyone just began chanting again, waiting for who was going to throw the first punch. Apparently, it was Mackenzie as she gave me a harsh shove. Narrowing my eyes, I only returned that shove, and that's when all hell broke loose.
When she came back towards me to grab me, I wrapped my arms around her head and pulled her into a headlock, listening to the people crowded around us just spurring the fight on. Mackenzie struggled against my hold, only to ball her hand into a fist and punch me harshly in one of the ribs. It hurt more than I liked to admit, and I ended up letting out a gasp of pain as I felt winded, but I wasn't going to let her win.
Letting go of her, I shoved her back once more to take a moment to recollect myself, and when she came at me again, I slapped her right across the face. She was shocked, clearly as it took her time to recover. But I wasn't going to give her time to recover. Because I knew if I did, she was only going to try and throw a punch. My turn wasn't over.
This time bringing my own hand into a fist, I connected it with her face, causing her to tumble to the floor and land on her forearms. It seemed to hurt her so much that she actually began crying. It seemed like the bitch wasn't so tough after all. "Fucking stay down, asshole!" I shouted at her. "You think you can just treat anyone you want like crap. Well, I've got news for you, if you hurt anyone I care about ever again, especially Taylor, it won't be just a punch that I'll be delivering right to your fucking doorstep!"
Stepping back away from the fight, I walked towards Taylor, pulling her into a kiss - even if there were many people around, I didn't care. It got a couple of "Ooo"'s and whistles from a couple of people, but others sounded disgusted by the fact that it was two girls pressing their lips together. But again, I didn't care. "Come on, let's get out of here." I told her, linking my arm with hers as we headed out the back gate to take the long way home.
For awhile, it was silent as we walked side by side, arms still linked. But eventually, Taylor spoke. "...Thank you." She quietly said, which did catch me a little by surprise. "Don't get me wrong, I don't think the way you handled it was exactly the best way... But at the same time I don't think Mackenzie was ever going to get the message pushed through her thick skull any other way... You do the craziest shit for me, and I wish I could be as brave and do brave stuff for you too... I'm just... I hope you know I'm grateful."
"Of course, Tay." I responded with a smile. "I love you, and I wasn't going to let her get away with hurting you like that." I said. Again, for a short while, we both fell quiet until I spoke once more. "Anyway, let's get home. We wouldn't want your dad to be worried about you."
"Heh... Yeah." Taylor smiled.
