This is the last page. This is when the story is complete, when you'll lean back in your desk chair and spin around in circles. This is euphoria. This when you'll say, Yes. I did it! and when I'll say, Yes. You made it! This is when you'll turn to me and laugh, a chorus of angels lowering their wings to shelter you.

This is the summer that came early. This is the end of all winters. This is the edge of the horizon—non-existent and perfectly round. You have finally realised that the earth has no such corners, that you were walking on flat ground all this time, that down takes you just as far as up. You have learned that the sky holds you very dear and that a full stop must complete one sentence so that you may start another.

This is now. Turn the page, pick up your pen and start writing.
