Taehyung woke up with a silent scream.
His heart hurt so much to the point it was hard to simply breathe, he looked to his right side to find it empty. His heart sank deeper, he was scared to acknowledged the empty spot of the bed.
He opened his mouth but nothing came out, his head went into a panicked mode and everything blurred for a solid moment before it went back to normal.
The black haired man moved so he laid down on one of his sides, he pulled his knees closer to his chest; a way to erase the pain but it didn't work this time.
He covered his ears, the silence in the room became deafening and he was out of breathing once again.
He sobbed and wailed, his body hurt and his mind went wild. His body shook, he bit the inside of his cheek until he tasted a little blood.
Jin died, he died because of cancer and he left Taehyung alone. He died inside Taehyung's embrace, he lost the love of his life right before his eyes.
Seokjin was his world just like Taehyung was the older man's world, everything was so perfect until the older man coughed up blood and the hospital became his second home.
One pill became two, two pills became three injections. Daily check-up room became an emergency room, a sore throat became coughing blood, a normal headache became too serious and Seokjin could faint anytime.
Everything became worse; Taehyung was scared, he was afraid, Seokjin was slowly fading into nothing.
'Please, don't go where I can't follow'
"No," he hiccupped, covering his mouth to muffle down his ugly sobbing, "no, please," his hand clenched into a fist, the sheet under him wrinkled as he gripped it so tightly until his knuckles turned white. He clawed at his own bed, gasping and hurting alone.
The dim light from the dawn, the sun was still sleeping out there but Taehyung was wide awake. The coldness that slipped under the fluffy brown blanket, the black haired male cried and drenched the pillow under his head.
He gazed at the empty spot beside him, the other pillow was cold; neglected. He shook his head and pulled the pillow closer to his chest, hugging it like there's no tomorrow.
He inhaled it slowly, the scent that reminded him about the windshield wiper laugh and the broad shoulders he loved the most.
"I love you, don't leave me," he whispered underneath his breath to no one, the baby blue pillow was wet because of his tears. The familiar scent was still llingering on it and it calmed him down but the fear also remained inside him.
When he finally collected his power ans calmed down a little bit, he slowly let the pillow go and put it back on its original spot on the king-sized bed. The bed was too big without the other man, he missed Seokjin so badly.
Sitting on the bed's edge, he eyed the cold tile floor, the heater was on but he still felt the biting coldness when his toes touched the floor. The curtains that covered the sliding door was opened, he could see the dark blue sky outside.
He sighed and left the bed without fixing the blanket, he switched on the small table lamp on the nightstand. Taehyung rubbed his hand, trying to find more warmth as he walked to the kitchen.
A small ball of fluffiness, the adorable little dog called Yeontan. He smiled softly when the small puppy ran to him and nuzzled to his cold toes.
He bent down and lifted the baby dog, patting the soft fur as the small dog sniffed his neck and then licked his cheek playfully with his little tail wagging side to side.
Yeontan sneezed after he licked the invisible tears tracks on Taehyung's cheek, as if the dog noticed his owner's sadness, the small fluffy ball barked softly.
Taehyung chuckled before putting the dog back to the floor, he closed his eyes for a while and leaned closer to the corridor's wall, everything still hurting and he was in pain. He needed an achor to stand still.
He wished the time to stop so he could sort out his mind, but everything was a mess without Seokjin. He just couldn't be 'Taehyung' without Seokjin, he would always be lacking something.
The pastel wallpaper, the kitchen, the damn corridor or the living room; everything screamed Seokjin and that just made his mind crazier.
He opened his eyes slowly, adjusting with the dim light from the small lamp in the corridor. He went to the kitchen with his fingers caressing the wallpaper gently as he walked.
He heard a hushed voice from beyond the wall, the pain slowly but surely fade.
He smiled, leaning his head to the doorframe and watched. Crossing his hand on his chest, he gazed with such fondness in his eyes.
A thin smile plastered to his face, the pain suddenly vanished immediately when he saw the familiar broad shoulders before the stove and a small figure near the table.
He noticed the small chair the little boy used, the boy messily added some powdered sugar to the white eggs while the other man talked in a small voice; giving little orders to the young boy.
"Yeonjun-ah, do it carefully," the man said, Taehyung's eyes watered when he heard the alluring voice clearly. He frowned, squinting his eyes and blinked the unshed tears.
The little boy nodded his head eagerly, "I'm doing the right thing?" he asked softly, the broad-shouldered man chuckled before replying with a soft hum.
Both of them were oblivious to Taehyung's presence, his chest tightened as he watched the sources of his happiness.
"Appa loves cakes right?" Yeonjun sounded doubtful, "I'm not choosing the wrong option right?" the little boy stopped and put down the manual whisker to look at his other father.
To think he had everything, to think Taehyung had a perfect family; everything felt unreal but real at the same time.
Seokjin bent down to face his son, he ruffled Yeonjun's hair gently, "yep, you're correct! Your Appa loves strawberry shortcakes so much!"
Yeonjun nodded, the little boy beamed with happiness, "if Daddy says so!" the little kid grabbed the whisker again and continued his job. Seokjin cut down the strawberry after he turned off the stove.
Yeontan chased after a fly and barked, making both Seokjin and Yeonjun glanced to the kitchen's door and both of them gasped at the same time when he found him.
Taehyung grinned with his sleepy yet tired eyes, "hey," he said softly, his hoarse voice made both of his son and husband exchanged an anxious glance.
"Hide the cak-!" Yeonjun shouted but then he suddenly slapped his own mouth to stop himself before he spills the tea. He got down from his little chair and grabbed Yeontan who jumped near the kitchen counter; asking Seokjin to give him a treat.
Seokjin gave a confused noise when Yeonjun ran to his Appa and pulled him away from the kitchen's doorframe, "Appa! Let's watch the morning cartoon!" he tried to pull his Appa away from the kitchen because Yeonjun didn't want Taehyung to know the surprise!
There's no cartoon at five in the morning, maybe there's some cartoon but not the one they usually watch together.
Taehyung chuckled, following his son who pulled him to the living room. He switched on the light, sat on the comfortable couch while his son searched for the remote control.
Taehyung remembered the dream again, the scene where he sat before the television and watched a video; his first and second date with Seokjin but the living room in his dream was too cold for his liking and he was all alone without Yeonjun.
"Yeonjun-ah," the little boy flinched a little, standing still for a while before he turned back slowly, "come here," Taehyung said, Yeonjun played with the hem of his pajamas.
Yeonjun gulped, he was screwed. The surprise he and his Daddy had been planning for a whole week was not working because his Appa woke up faster than their prediction!
Odd, his appa usually woke up late in holiday morning. His appa didn't need to go to his company but here they were, in the living room with Yeonjun trying his best to distract Taehyung
The little boy walked to his Appa, he squeaked when Taehyung pulled him into his arms and embraced him.
"Appa?" Yeonjun whispered, unconsciously patting his Appa's back because that was what his Daddy always do when someone hugs him.
Taehyung took a deep breath, he buried his face to his son's neck with a deep frown, "are you okay?" his son asked again, the older man felt guilty for making this little ball of happiness worried.
"Yes," he lied; letting out a shaky breath. Both of them pulled away when they heard a loud cry. Seokjin shouted, 'wait a minute!' from the kitchen as if the one who cried could understand him.
Taehyung and Yeonjun exchanged a knowing glance before they followed the loud cries and ended up standing before on an opened door.
Yeonjun ran first to the bedroom, a small sign on the door with a name engraved on it caught Taehyung's eyes, [Soobin], his mouth parted a little when he eyed his second son's name.
He looked inside to find Seokjin rocking the crying baby and smiled down to Yeonjun who hugged his thigh and whined, "I want to see Soobin too!"
"Everyone seemed to wake up earlier today," Seokjin huffed, the small baby hiccupped inside his embrace, "but good thing your Appa woke up because he calms you better than I do," the older man walked to Taehyung.
He took Soobin immediately from Seokjin's arms when the older man leaned closer to him, smiling softly to his son while his other son tugged his husband's sleeve.
'How about the cake?' Yeonjun whispered but loud enough for Taehyung to hear, Seokjin held back his laugh and whispered back to his first son.
'In the oven, we should wait for about forty-five minutes,' the little boy grinned and jumped in happiness. So obvious but his parents chose to pretend they didn't aware of the truth.
Taehyung stepped inside and sat on a bed's edge, they put a bed inside Soobin's room because most of time, one of them would end up sleeping here since his second son's needed a lot of attention.
The meaning behind the 'attention' was staying up late until Soobin stopped crying and they fell asleep in this room before they managed to go back to their original bedroom.
Seokjin smiled, Taehyung's eyes suddenly felt itchy and hot once again, the side of his eyes twitched. The dream still haunted him until now, he put Soobin down on the bed to let Yeonjun play with his baby brother.
"What's wrong with you?" Seokjin tilted his head when Taehyung pulled the older man closer, he sat on the bed while Seokjin stood between his feet, "come on, Taetae; it's your birthday! Cheer up!" the older man caressed Taehyung's head.
Taehyung embraced Seokjin tightly, the older started to become worried because his husband looked so stressed. He noticed Taehyung's tired eyes and he could sense something was definitely wrong with the younger man.
Stressed from his job?
Pressured?
Anxiety?
Taehyung looked to his side, he nuzzled to Seokjin's tummy and whimpered softly after he saw Yeonjun was too happy playing with Soobin to hear their conversation.
"I had a nightmare," he mumbled, Seokjin frowned and sat beside Taehyung. He caressed the younger man's knuckles, "a really horrible one and I-"
The brown haired male stopped him. Taehyung shut his mouth and closed his eyes when Seokjin leaned closer and kissed his lips softly. The soft plump lips felt so right against his lips, same but different from the kiss from his dream.
In his dream, Taehyung was kissing Seokjin with a pained expression in the balcony, he begged for him to stay; but this time the older man was kissing him to calm him down, to kick away the fear from his heart.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to," Seokjin pecked his cheek, wiping the tears from Taehyung's cheek. He didn't notice he was crying until the older man wiped the tears away with his thumb, just, the pain was unbearable.
The image of losing Seokjin right before his eyes, he couldn't do anything when his husband's body went cold inside his embrace or when he watched people came to the funeral.
Taehyung would go insane, even if he didn't, he would find that living was pointless.
Maybe he could survive, but he would never be happy like when he was with Seokjin again.
"I lost everything," Taehyung said, kissing Seokjin's knuckles, "I lost you, I lost my world," cringe as it sounded but both of them didn't care about the cheesy words. He was shaking, frowning, and whimpering pathetically when the dream flashed once again inside his mind.
Taehyung's words and the tone was too serious for Seokjin to tease him, so the older man listened and put his serious face too.
"You were telling me to never forget about you," he started to sobbed loudly, Seokjin panicked a little, "to always loves you."
It was stupid, Taehyung thought inside his own dream when Seokjin said that. He would never love anyone else besides Seokjin.
"Th-There's blood every time you coughed," he gripped Seokjin's upper arm, pulling him closer and then nosed the older man's neck like he wanted to prove that this wasn't a dream, "you went to hospital almosy every weeks".
Seokjin flinched a littel because Taehyung's grip was becoming too strong but he stayed still.
"You fainted, you lost so much weight," he sobbed, "please, don't go where I can't follow," Taehyung unconsciously said what he said to Seokjin inside his dream.
Seokjin's heart was full of pain, seeing Taehyung like this. He didn't know the full story of the dream but it must be so hurtful for the younger male.
Yeonjun stopped playing with Soobin when he heard a sob escaped from his Appa's mouth. Too confused and worried to even approach his parents.
"Tae," Seokjin tried to calm him down. Taehyung hugged him tighter when he tried to pull away, the older man shook his head when he met his first son's eyes who stared at him with a confused abd troubled expression.
Yeonjun hugged Soobin who tilted his head a little, watching both of their fathers.
"I prayed every night, every second," Taehyung gritted his teeth, beyond caring about his cracking voice, "I begged to the deity, begging them to let you stay with me; to never take you away from my side," he growled in pain.
Seokjin felt the warm tears, his shoulder was drenched with Taehyung's tears. The older man took one of Taehyung's hand and entwined it with his crooked ones, "hey," he called, trying to make the younger man faced him but Taehyung shook his head; still shaking with his fear.
Taehyung would do anything, anything. Just if he could do something.
"Taetae, come on," Seokjin pushed him lightly just to tilt his chin, so Taehyung would meet his eyes this time, "please, Taehyung-ah, look at me," he pleaded.
'I won't ask you to only love me forever after I die; asking you to not loving someone else besides me, even when I want to. I'm not that cruel'
The words Seokjin said inside his dream kept ringing.
'It's totally fine if you find and fall in love with someone else, but please, I beg you'
'Please don't forget me'
'Please keep loving me; please keep loving Kim Seokjin no matter what'
Taehyung whimpered, sobbing harder as the words replayed like a broken tape inside his head. Seokjin cupped his cheeks, covering his ears.
Everything felt warm; fighting against the coldness that kept haunting the black haired male after that freakin' dream.
"I'm here," Seokjin said with a firm voice, Taehyung stopped breathing for a second before he gasped and suddenly he could breathe normally. The black haired male looked up and met Seokjin's eyes, firm face and a thin smile on his beloved's face.
Seokjin rested his forehead against Taehyung's forehead, the younger man took a deep shaky breath and blinked away the tears, "I'm right here, I'm not going away or worse, leaving you," he said, cupping Taehyung's cheeks with both hands.
The bonds between them made Seokjin felt what Taehyung felt, just a brief example but he could clearly felt the pain and the uneasiness.
"You're not losing me, you won't lose anything because I'm here," Taehyung nodded his head in instinct; his instinct telling him to trust his mate.
He buried his face to the crooked of Seokjin's neck and inhaled the familiar scent of the strawberry jam he loved the most, the comforting scent of his love.
"I love you," he blurted out suddenly, he tilted his head and found Seokjin widened his eyes for a second.
The older man grinned with red ears and he smiled back, "I love you so much, Kim Seokjin," he said again and kissed the older man's red ears. Seokjin kissed his tears away, he let out a content sigh.
"Appa," both of them pulled away from each other when they heard Yeonjun's voice, the boy stared at them with teary eyes and trembling fists, "both of you, are you okay?" He croaked.
Seokjin nodded and Taehyung felt guilty, he saw Soobin's face went a little red too; like the baby was holding back from bursting into tears, the baby was inside his older brother's embrace.
"Yeah, sorry, Appa is fine now," Taehyung said softly as he moved closer to them, kissing Yeonjun's forehead before he tackled the children gently to the bed and nuzzled to them, tickling them at once and gained a loud high pitched laugh.
His sons giggled and squealed, Yeonjun ran to Seokjin to escape from his Appa's tickling game.
Taehyung hugged his second son from one side and gave his baby a lot of chaste kisses, nuzzling playfully and bopping his baby's cute nose.
Soobin laughed and squirmed away from his Appa, Seokjin fished out his phone and recorded everything.
Taehyung grinned, his iconic boxy grin and his eyes turned crescent. He tickled and kissed his baby's chubby cheeks again.
He caressed his baby's head gently, smiling so widely until his own cheeks hurt when he saw Seokjin laughing.
Yeonjun clinging to his husband's waist; giggling together with him and Soobin who pushed him away with his tiny fists.
The bed sheet wrinkled but Seokjin didn't scold them, he was too happy to see Taehyung and their children together like this.
Playing and having a great time together, the way his younger husband showering their children with such loves was too heart-warming for him.
Taehyung grinned and blushed a little when Seokjin mentioned his messy black hair, thanks to Soobin who tugged at his hair. Seokjin cooed and praised his handsome side-profile.
Taehyung felt so lucky, so content and relieved.
Taehyung pulled his son closer, couldn't get enough of their happy laughs. Soobin giggled and made grabby-hand gestures to Seokjin and Yeonjun, both of them joined Taehyung and played together happily on the bed.
The black haired man closed his eyes and just stayed there, listening to his family. He nuzzled to his son's neck, blinking away the unshed tears; this time because of the overwhelming happiness. He grinned when Seokjin leaned down and gave a soft peck to his forehead.
The ding noise from the oven was the reason they stopped playing. They continued their morning with a freshly baked cake as their breakfast.
Yeonjun was the one who put the strawberry on the cake after Seokjin finished the icing part, he felt proud.
Seokjin was beside him, he had Yeonjun and Soobin too. He was happy, they were happy, and Taehyung knew this one was the real one for him.
He didn't lose anything, there are no options they must choose.
This time, no one leave their beloved and no one lose their precious.
