Chapter 11

Alexis mouth dropped at her fathers words. The tesseract?! She had heard of it when she was just a baby. The heroic story of how Loki stole it, and her father got it back. It was a lovely story before bedtime, nonetheless.

"What?!....how?!?" Alexis whispered looking back and forth between the wall and Thor. She grasped her hammer tightly.

"We don't know." He replied looking into his daughters eyes with a sigh. There was a pause between them before Alexis spoke again.

"Do you think it was Loki?"

"Maybe, but we need to find it soon." He replied staring back at the wall. They both didn't want to turn this into another tesseract mission.

Alexis turned back to Mila who was quiet this whole time. "Come on. We need to find Isabel." Mila nodded and they turned to leave. Before they could even take one step, Sif laid a hand on Mila's shoulder.

"Mila, I need to talk to you for a moment." Sif said with her hushed, sweet voice. Mila looked back at Alexis, then her mother pulled her to a corner and began talking. Alexis decided to wait outside. She walked away pushing through crowds of people to get to the door.

As soon as she was out of the room, a hand grasped her mouth and shoved her to the side of the wall so she could not be seen. The halls were dark so the mysterious person could not be seen either. It was too fast for Alexis and took her by surprise. She had dropped her hammer on the floor with the blow and was now being held against a wall by a small arm. The person holding her took out a knife and placed it against her throat so she would not speak. Alexis's heart surged as the voice spoke.

"Where is the tesseract?" the voice was female and was all to familiar for Alexis. Alexis's eyes grew wide as her eyes adjusted and she made out the featured of her friend and cousin.

"What do you mean, Isabel?!" Alexis spat at her. She was a little upset that she had done nothing while her friends were attacked by Loki and that she had left them. "And where have you been?!"

"Answer my question first!!" Isabel pressed the knife harder to her throat.

"Get this off me!!" she said swatting the small knife out of Isabel's hand. The knife made a small pinging sound as it hit the floor. Isabel ignored it and still held Alexis against the wall. "Now, to answer the question, I have no clue where the tesseract is. I was searching for you when it was stolen."

Isabel looked away from Alexis's cold eyes. "What about Mila?"

"She was with me." Isabel let go of Alexis against the wall after her reply. "And why are you coming to me asking?" Alexis questioned.

"My father...told me you had taken it."

"Now why in Heimdals watch would I do that?" Alexis threw her hand up in distress. "Isabel," Alexis moved closer to her in a whisper. "He is tricking you. He is the one that stole the tesseract. I know it. He took it for his power. He just wants revenge and is tricking you into helping him." Alexis looked into Isabel's green eyes.

"No he's not! you don't know him like I do!" Isabel replied squinting her eyes. There was a pause between them. The dim torches in the halls flickered. Suddenly, small footsteps were being heard coming closer to them as Alexis spoke.

"Isabel-" she was cut off by Isabel's frantic speaking.

"I got to go. If my dad finds me here outside his place, he'll kill me!" eclectic green and black faintly started to surround her.

"Wait! where are you hiding?" The footsteps gain close to them. Isabel just looked at Alexis before the electric colors surrounded her completely. The footsteps finally arrived as the last bits of electric green faded to nothing. Isabel was gone.

"What was that?" Mila asked as she rounded the corner from the door and approached Alexis. But Alexis just stood staring at the place where Isabel just was a minute ago. "Alexis?" Mila said looking at Alexis's blank face. Snapping back to reality, Alexis looked over to Mila.

"Uhh," Alexis said looking around. "Nothing." Mila's now staff, glowed red from its core. Looking back up to Mila, Alexis gulped. Mila looked as if she was about to scold her. "Ok, ok, ok.... Isabel was here and she thought that WE had stole the tesseract." Alexis rolled her eyes.

"What?!? did she say where she was?" Mila's eyes widened.

"No." Alexis sighed. "But she did say that she was not allowed to leave wherever she's at." Mila's hopeful expression decreased. They were no where close to finding Isabel much less the tesseract.

"What now?" Mila asked with sorrow in her voice. Walking over to her hammer, Alexis picked it up and twirled it.

"I don't know, but we can't give up hope yet."
