BONUS CHAPTER
Ten Years Later
"Yuri Dreyar, stop running around the guild right now!" you shout at your son who is using his lightning to zip throughout the building as he pleases.
Yuri abruptly stops and looks at you with the same grey eyes as his father and the same spiky blonde hair. "Sorry!"
You sigh and run a hand down your face. "Just please stop. You're going to hurt yourself."
"Okay," he sweetly replies before jogging to play with the other children.
You turn and walk to your husband who is sitting back in a chair at an empty table. You reach over and yank the headphones from his ears and hold them up.
"Lightning Brain, are you going to help me parent anytime soon?" you question and toss the headphones on the table. "I can't believe I let you keep those old things."
Laxus shifts in his chair and looks up at you. "Did something happen?"
"Our son using his magic to destroy the guild. That's pretty much it."
"He's starting his guild destruction so young. I couldn't be prouder," Laxus jokes with a chuckle.
"I'm serious, Laxus," you groan. "He's going to hurt himself."
Your husband pulls you down to sit on his lap. "Don't worry. He's a Dreyar and a (L/N). That means he's indestructible. I already feel sorry for the girl who ends up with him."
"Or boy," you correct.
"Or boy," Laxus agrees and runs his hand up and down your thigh. "What's wrong? I can tell something's off with you."
"Just a little irritated with your lack of attention to Yuri."
"I'm sorry. With the guild growing so much, it's hard, you know that. You help me and we can barely get everything done. On top of that, we're trying to be parents to an energetic ten-year-old. It's a lot."
You glance over to your son across the room playing with his Uncle Bickslow and his puppets. You fiddle with your fingers and hesitantly look back to Laxus.
"So you don't want anymore kids?" you question.
"Not for a few more years until Yuri is older and able to take care of himself," he replies.
You lick your bottom lip and stand up. "I'm feeling kind of sick, so I'm going to head home. I'll get Evergreen to keep an eye on Yuri and you can go back to doing whatever."
You leave him sitting there confused as you search for your closest friend. You spot her at the bar downing a sneaky shot of liquor.
"I'm going to head home, can you watch Yuri?" you ask once you stand beside her. "As long as that was your first shot, of course."
"It was. But did you tell Laxus yet?" she asks, pushing up her glasses.
You sigh. "No and I don't know how to tell him. He said he doesn't want anymore kids right now because of how busy we are already."
"He's such a jackass," Evergreen states. "Go get some rest."
"Thanks."
You head straight out of the guild and start down the road toward your shared house. A million thoughts race through your mind and you subconsciously rub your stomach.
Ten minutes pass before you make it to your front door. You unlock it and push it open, letting it fall closed behind you as you walk to the living room and lay on your back on the couch.
You stare at the ceiling for a while before using your magic to summon one of your arrows and start messing with the sharp tip. Your holy power swirls around its length and you admire the black and white colors.
Suddenly, you hear the front door burst open, causing you to jump and throw the arrow next to the intruders head once they come into view.
"You scared the shit out of me," you breathe as you sit up once you see it's only Laxus.
"I'm sorry," Laxus says, rushing over to sit next to you. He doesn't stop and brings you into his arms. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay?" you reply cluelessly.
"Why didn't you just tell me?" he questions as he pulls back to meet your eyes.
"Tell you what?" you ask.
"That you're pregnant."
"Ohhhh," you drawl out. "I was going to, but then you went on about work and not having enough time for kids."
"I'm sorry," Laxus repeats with regret. "The work has been piling up, but I'm going to get Bickslow and Freed to help me out now so it gets done. It will be better for all of us. I always tried doing it myself, but both guys agreed to help."
"You got them to agree that fast?" you question skeptically.
"Well, yeah. Evergreen kind of yelled at me about it in front of the whole guild then Freed and Bickslow stepped in to work it out."
"Are you actually happy or are you just saying that because you have no choice?"
Laxus smiles and brings a hand up to your cheek. "I'm really, really happy. I told you I love that you're carrying our children and now our family will be even bigger."
"I love you," you whisper.
"I love you, too."
You softly mash your lips with his and run your fingers through his silky blonde hair before pulling away and standing up.
"That went smoother than the first time," you say, waltzing to the kitchen to get some ice cream.
"What do you mean?" Laxus asks, following after you and moving to sit on one of the stools in front of the island.
You pull out your favorite ice cream from the freezer and grab two spoons before setting it between the two of you.
"You cried the first time, Bolt Boy."
Laxus smiles and scoops the ice cream into his mouth. "It's because I never thought any of this would be possible. My life had been so shitty until you hopped into it, then you got pregnant and it became everything I had ever wanted."
"Me too," you reply, licking your spoon. "How many more kids you want?"
"A whole football team."
You laugh. "That's funny, Thunder Thighs, but there's no way you're getting that many out of me."
"I can try." A sky smirk dances on his lips and you roll your eyes.
"You know Jura's daughter? The one who married Mystogan Fernandes?" you question, remembering something the Wizard Saint had told you.
"Yes, what about her?"
"She and Mystogan had twins their first time around and now she's pregnant with twins again. What if I have triplets twice in a row or something?" you ask seriously.
"It would be spectacular. I want our kids to take over the world."
"Of course you would say that," you chuckle, shaking your head. "I just want them to be safe. I'm so scared of Yuri getting hurt."
Laxus puts his spoon into the carton of ice cream and slides it to be side before putting your spoon with it and taking your hands in his larger ones.
"They're going to get hurt someday, trust me. Whether it's a heartbreak or a broken bone, it will happen. It's a part of life. We go through pain and happiness like a rollercoaster with all the ups and downs. You can't get off the ride halfway through, that's how we become stronger so we can make it to the end."
"You're a wonderful father and you're going to be such a great teacher to them," you say, reaching over to peck his lips.
"Thank you, but you're better," he replies.
"You don't want to play this game, Laxus Dreyar."
"Oh, I think I do, (Y/N) Dreyar."
You lean back and starting leisurely walking to the stairs then quickly bolt up them with Laxus on your heels. Truth be told, you may be getting old, but you'll always be children at heart.
Through all the struggles of your pasts, the two of you have managed to make your futures incredible and exciting with another kid on the way. There's been hard times, yes, but getting through them has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride. This journey is far from being over, so you might as well sit back and enjoy the breeze.
