Edit: I'm too lazy to fix the novel cover.--------In the beginning, there was nothing. No time, no space, no thought, no story. Then came the Old Gods. From the endless void, they forged the very essence of reality: Matter, Concepts, Law, Time, Space, Life, Death, Story, Information - and the invisible hands of Fate and Causality.Eons passed. In a nameless galaxy on the edge of existence, humanity unknowingly teetered between myth and oblivion. Their fears gave birth to demons. Their beliefs gave rise to hope. From the shadows of myth, two divergent civilizations were born - one fighting in silence to contain the cosmic anomalies that now creep into their world. This is where Nicolas Ventis comes in - just a sick intern on a quiet spring night in 2083.Until the sea began to boil. Until the skies screamed.Until the world ended - and restarted. Now face-to-face with entities older than the multiverse itself, Nicolas is offered something no mortal ever receives:A choice.A power.A burden.Welcome to the House of Votex.Where stories begin. And where all of them must eventually return.…

"What win I, if I gain the thing I seek?A dream, a breath, a froth of fleeting joy.Who buys a minute's mirth to wail a week?Or sells eternity to get a toy?For one sweet grape who will the vine destroy?Or what fond beggar, but to touch the crown,Would with the sceptre straight be strucken down?" - William Shakespeare, The Rape of Lucrece -A recently discovered record of the location of Atlantis brought chaos to the science community. A mysterious death following the discovery had threatened the life-changing expedition to Atlantis. Who will give in, and who will survive? Disclaimer: all the events are not real, although some are based on two Plato's dialogues, Timaeus and Critias. Please do not see this story as a fact.…

A stringent definition of FUO is composed of the following criteria[1]: temperature higher than 38.3° C measured on several occasions, 3-week duration (to exclude self-limiting fevers), negative blood cultures, no apparent explanation, and three outpatient visits or three hospital days.   ▪    Infections, malignancies, and noninfectious inflammatory diseases account for the majority of cases of FUO.   ▪    In patients older than 65 years, temporal arteritis should be considered early in any evaluation.   ▪    Patients with FUO who remain undiagnosed after exhaustive study usually have a favorable prognosis. In one study, in a cohort of 61 patients with FUO discharged without diagnosis, the 5-year mortality rate was only 3.2%.[2]…
