The day I turn twenty. It's also the day where my life stops forever, until I find a soul mate.

Soul mate

The thing is, people don't really understand the true meaning of that word. They think a soul-mate is your perfect match, the person that shares a powerful connection with you; a connection so strong you become drawn to them in a way you have never experienced before. As this connection develops over time, you experience a love so deep, strong and complex, that you begin to doubt that you have ever truly loved anyone prior.

And that's what everyone wants.

But a true soul mate is a mirror, a light at the end of a tunnel, the person who shows you everything that's holding you back, the person who would force your deepest darkest sides to unravel and then directs it to your attention so you can change your life.

A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they'll tear the thick skin that masks your body from society. They break down your walls and smack you awake. They tell you the truth even if it hurts, rather than sugar coat lies to avoid "the ugly truth".

And that's what people need these days, a reality check.

When an individual turns 20 they stop aging until they meet their soulmate, so they can grow old together. There are four fractions recorded on the back side of the shoulder that represents: the year, the month, the week, and the days the individual has lived so far.

When the pair are sure they have met their soul mate, they must wait 24 hours so the "day" digit turns from 0 to 1. And that's when both are certain that they've found their life long soul-mate.

But what if I never find my soul mate? Then I'll have to stay 20 forever. Yeah sure, I'll stay youthful and live life to the fullest, yet I'll see the whole world age as I stand in the pit of it all timelessly.

But to live with a significant other for the rest of my life? Nah. Too painful. Soulmates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then they leave as you wander around doubting, questioning, and blaming yourself for everything that had happened.
