Chapter one
VC stood at the counter to her bakery. It grew over the years and now she had glass to show off her cakes and specials stands for her cookies. Right now she was selling to a girl who looked just a bit younger than her. The girl looked blazen. VC could feel her own fire beneath her skin from her distant magma ancestor. "Do you have sour dough bread?" Red asked VC. "Why yes we do! It's even cheaper than our regular bread! I think that's an excellent choice! Would you like some apples or cheese with that? It's from my own cow and tree." VC always liked to talk about the different food type in her shop to her costumers.
They always seemed to listen. Red looked thoughtful as she pondered weather she should spend a few extra gold or emerald coins on her food. Money or food... The more appetizing one won. "That sound good! How much would that cost?" She smiled. Then again she would hope her father didn't find her eating too much food. He always ragged Red out for eating to much and training too less. "The bread cost 2 gold pieces, the apple 3, and the cheese 1 emerald shard." VC nodded respectfully.
"Alright then." Red rummaged through her satchel to pull out a small spider silk coin purse. Spider silk was rare and hard to get so she must either have a lot of money or go on adventures quite often. VC pondered this to herself. VC used to go on lots of adventure but only to stop a few years ago. They were new and always exciting but it took to much from her for VC to handle. It took what mattered most to her, and they ended up in revealing what was truly bad or ugly of her.
VC shivered as she saw a faint reflection of herself in her front window. "I know I have one in here some where! Just a minute!" Red franticly searched for her emerald shard. She had difficulty finding it. As she looked on a small birch wood table two boys came in. One was a young teen with blonde hair and a blue hood that looked a size to big on him. Holding on to his sleeve was a boy who looked to be a bit younger than him.
He stood a head shorter than his brother. He didn't look very alike though. He had ink black hair and electric green eyes. He wore a hood less sweater to match his eyes. VC stood up and narrowed her eyes at the two boys. "I swear I will make my next batch of frosting out of you blood if you try to steal the donuts again!" VC didn't yell but I don't think you would like it either if a girl told you she would use your blood on pastries.
King started to cry and hugged his brother. Red didn't seem very effected. She was used to things like that in this town. She had seen worst in pubs and taverns. "Whoa! Did you have to do that!? Look! I have money!!" He pulled a leather pouch off his belt and rattled the contents inside. "What makes you think I even want to sell to you?" VC demanded. King started to cry. "A-all I w-wa-want is a sw-sweet!" King blubbered crying even harder.
As much as VC disliked people who stole or attempted to she couldn't stay mad at a little kid who was crying. "Alright alright! Just stop crying! Please!" King started to stifle his sobs and tears until they stopped leaving him with a runny nose. "FOUND IT!!" Red triumphantly pulled out an emerald shard an went to pay VC. Shane and King were looking at all their choices. "I can only pay for about four so two for each of us." Shane explained to his brother how they would get their donuts.
"You should get the chocolate chip ones!" VC provided. "The strawberry ones are good too!" Red nodded her head vigorously. A boy walked in making the small jingle bells ring. He pushed the boy out of his way. He had faint green particles, tree green eyes, black hair, and has pale skin that was very lightly tinted green. "I personally like the jam filled ones." He smirked and grabbed a vanilla donut that said to have strawberry jam.
He went to looked at the bread. Soon all of VCs costumers left making her cozy shop quiet and lonely. VC glanced at her old clock that she and her sister made one year. She felt the familiar pang in her heart as she looked at it. It read that it was just around lunch time. VC flipped the sign on her window to mark that she was closed and went upstairs to change out of her now flour covered out fit. She changed into something more comfortable which was a regular brown dress and she finished it with a cookie headband.
She hurriedly rushed out of the bakery as fast as she could. Meanwhile three interesting people were having a reunion. One was an endergirl, another was an assassin, and the third was quite different. He had almost glowing blue eyes. No body knows what he was up to. As much as they were different they still spent half their child hood together. "So Merlin, where have you been for the past three years?" Jake the assassin questioned his adopted brother closely.
Merlin looked annoyed. "You know this Jake. You were there." Liv inspected the two. She knew them closely because she lived with them for two years. Or I could say 8 months. She had an almost Persephone relationship with them. When she was found many years ago by the lord of the dead he asked her ruler if he could keep her and Jake. The dragon said yes to Jake but only for 4 months a year for Liv.
The dragon kept her completely after two years. "Weren't you guys both with Hero for the past 6 years?" She looked confused at the boys. "I said lets go fight the wither Merlin, it will be safer Merlin, but you said noo, daddy will be mad." Jake looked stubbornly at Merlin. "So I took us to a safe spot but you got yourself knocked out so I ended up getting my butt kidnapped." Merlin glared a Jake. Liv sunk down in her seat.
The last time she was with them they were all safe and all friends. Jake smirked. "Your dad told me to kidnap you back because he's worried!" Jake smirked evilly. "What he wouldn't be-" Merlin was cut off by Jake leaping over the small cafe table they were sitting at with a potato sack at Merlin. Merlin started sprinting off with Jake chasing him and Liv chasing Jake. "Get back here!" Liv yelled. Merlin somehow tripped and laid sprawled on his back.
He shot some magic at Jake where it hit him in the leg. Liv cop aught up but didn't do anything because she was panting and coughing. Jakes leg was now paralyzed and the trio was all on the ground. Meanwhile a tall boy with many ancestors, a small boy with dark hair, one with blonde, and two girls with red and brown hair stood watching the scene go down. The tall boy with black hair and tree green eyes walked up the the three.
"You know the patrols are coming right?" "We should talk it out." Liv gasped. She didn't feel the need to move. Jake and Merlin exchange looks and nodded. "Let's kill each other later shall we?" "Agreed." The two ran off towards an ally. "Or we could run everywhere. " Liv grumbled. She wasn't bad at running but it was hot and she was wearing black.
