Chapter Thirty-Two
The two walked in silence to the bottom. Lazarus was unexpectedly frowning in a serious manner.
A reddish wolf was sitting near a grave as they walked down. The wolf turned around to greet them as they approached.
"Greetings," the wolf yipped with a dip of his head to the two visitors. "I have been expecting you."
The red wolf was also covered in scars, appearing much like Lazarus in shape except he wasn't covered in armor and wasn't as blue. He was also more bulky in stature, and seemed slightly more intimidating than the skinny pathetic Pokemon next to Fae.
Lazarus dipped his head also in greetings. "Hello, brother. Everything all well?" He asked the red wolf.
The red wolf bared his fangs at him.
"Everything well? Brother you tell me! We've been trapped in the bottom of two conveniently X-and-triangular-shaped prisons for years on end!" The Hero of Many Battles roared as he leapt forward to snarl in defiance.
Lazarus sighed. "You know why we had to be locked up, Zen. But that is not important right now. Getting us out of here is of most importance." The Zacian responded courtly.
The supposed Zamazenta in front of them sighed. "You know how to get out of here?" His bipolar attitude changed. Zen's shoulders relaxed as his eyes bore into Lazarus.
Lazarus nodded before turning his gaze towards Fae. "With the help of Fae here, we can escape. She knows the way out, and I know the way out of your cave as well now. We had to face many dangerous Pokémon to reach you."
"This tiny white Eevee?" The Zamazenta questioned, lifting what would be his eyebrow in curiosity. "She let you out?"
The Sword Pokémon nodded his head, almost falling over due to the sheer weight of his battle armor. "Yes, and we will get you out. So long as someone knows the way, and as long as someone can fight. Especially in this dungeon. For whatever reason it has an evil aura to it—much unlike mine."
Zen's eyes lasered against the staircase that led out. Only one way. His gaze turned back towards the two adventurers with uncertainty. He then smiled.
"Well, what are we waiting for brother, Fuzzy? Let's go!" Zen rumbled with an air of excitement.
How long has he been stuck here? At least a few decades. How did someone like Lazarus stay so calm down in the basement of a cave for that many years?
Zen began to run up the stairs, his feet thumping loudly on the ground. Fae and Lazarus exchanged glances before following. This Zamazenta was definitely strong.
Zen paused. "So which way do we go?" He asked as the white fox and blue wolf caught up to him.
Fae pointed the way they came. "The stairs are this way. Honestly I don't even know how you two didn't know where to go from the start. Can you not see the stairs?" She asked.
Both Zen and Lazarus shook their heads. "Unfortunately not. They're not for our eyes. Only for the ones questing downwards and back up." Lazarus explained.
Zen opened his mouth to speak. "Yeah, and like our eyes suck!" He woofed as he stuck out his tongue.
Huh. I wouldn't know if legendaries have horrible eyesight. I doubt it's that bad since they can see me. Maybe they can only see moving things? Or perhaps it's just way too complicated. Either way, they can't see the staircase—therefore they couldn't escape. But couldn't Zen see that staircase he went up?
...
That's odd.
"Well, Brother, I have adventured enough to know the way. We can finally be free of this prison and go back to our positions as helpful wolves of the community." Lazarus explained.
"Helping? Awww man. I thought we helped enough. Don't tell me Poketown is in trouble again or something. That last time we rescued them they established a Police Station so we wouldn't have to do this again." Zen groaned as he sat down.
The Zamazenta placed both forepaws on his skull. "It was a bloodbath." He commented with wide, crazed eyes.
Lazarus rolled his eyes. "It's our job, brother. We can surely take a vacation at some point, however our main goal is to help people and Pokémon in need."
The way he talked. It was like he was scolding Zen. Or at least informing Zen of their true purpose. Which it was sad if they wanted to be normal Pokémon. Normal Pokémon who sleep away until they are needed—or kept hidden from society until they are revealed by a young Eevee such as herself.
Zen nodded as he grit his teeth. Despite him being called Zen it was almost like he was the opposite. He didn't seem nearly as calm as he was excitable and expressive.
"I know," he remarked. He sighed. "I just wish it were easier to relax is all."
Lazarus sighed as a response. He didn't say anything. He must be speechless.
"It's never easy, brother. We can only hope that these Pokémon will understand."
Understand? What was there to understand? Did they go in those caves for a reason? Was it an escape? Fae didn't know. All she knew was that Lazarus and Zen were happy to be out of those caves, but maybe it wasn't as one dimensional as that.
"What do you mean?" Fae asked in confusion, expressing her curiosity and worry. She wasn't exactly on par with these two legendaries. They knew something more than she did, though.
Lazarus glanced over at her with one eye. He then shrugged.
"It's not important. Anyways, let's get going."
Fae decided to let it go. But she it did peek her curiosity. "Sure if you say so." She remarked as she shrugged.
Zen bounced on his paws, and walked up the stairs. "Hurry up!" He yipped as thundered through the floor. Pokémon around the area glanced at them with red eyes, but ignored them as they continued to walk around the area aimlessly while the three found the exit.
It was also quite easy to leave this dungeon. Once they were out, they collected themselves.
"Are you guys leaving?" Fae wondered, gazing off in the direction of the Fennekin Tribe. Would that tribe listen to some unknown wolves? Fae wasn't sure.
Lazarus followed her gaze. "Is there...something you need help with?" He wondered as Zen rolled his eyes. "Whatever, let's go find a nice island to visit. I've heard Alola has some nice vacation spots."
Fae nodded. "I don't really want to bother you with this. You guys seemed to have too much already on your plate with saving the world and all..." Fae's voice faded.
Could she really even force two complete strangers to help her with something that wasn't any of their business? Heck it wasn't even hers!
Lazarus nudged her. "Go on. We'll decide what we want to do. Helping others is our goal after all!" Lazarus remarked in a friendly manor.
He must want to help her. She did free him after all, and helped him collect his brother—returning the favor.
"Well, this isn't exactly our problems, but a friend of mine and his village have an issue with a tribe of Fennekin and their evolutions. I was wondering if you could help us make peace with them. They're in an all out war with them. Many lives have been lost."
It was hard to put it into words without choking on her own spit. Fae really didn't like what was going on.
Perhaps peace was the answer they needed.
"Mhm," Lazarus responded with a somber expression. "Wars can be hard times, Fae. You say this isn't our problem. Perhaps you're also an outsider to this issue?" Lazarus questioned.
Fae nodded as Lazarus' expression became absolute. "Ah, I see. The only wisdom I can suggest is: to bring them together you will need to show both sides why they should be allies rather than enemies. Sometimes things can bring certain groups together." The blue wolf informed her with a curt dip of his head.
"So are you helping?" She asked him, confused.
"I think that's a no, shortcake." Zen huffed with frustration. He obviously didn't want to do any more favors. Not even for someone who helped get him out of that basement.
Not that I blame him. I had a similar experience.
Zen began to back away. Lazarus reached a paw out to stop him. "No. I think we should help her, brother. After all, this is an issue. Wars are always dangerous. I'd rather not hear of the bloodshed."
Zen gazed at his brother in confusion. "You think? We need a break!" The Zamazenta roared.
The Zacian growled. "We did take a break! Decades break! Now's time we get back into action dear brother."
Zen groaned. "But after this we stop at least for a few days. At least!"
The Zamazenta then pointed his nose at Fae. "Tell us, ghostly one, where are these so called tribes and Villages?"
With that, the three ran off. However, what Fae came back to was utterly horrifying.

Authors note: Thank you all so much for making it this far. Tbh I felt like this story was missing something.
And I think this might be what it's missing: Zacian and Zamazenta.
Anyways thanks for reading! 😁
