Calling Harry. Chapter 13.
Zayn's P.O.V.
The next morning hummed as birds sat in their nests singing. I walked out onto the back porch. I looked around at my surroundings. The house I lived in was a two story, bland, plain white paneling, with windows that were white wood. The roof was a dark brown, with a hint of black along the creases. It wasn't that nice, it was a house that I wanted. A house I could do a lot with, but I didn't know what I wanted to do with it. Once I thought of fixing it up, is when all the ideas came into place on what I could really do to make this place better.
I thought of it as more of a 'Welcome home' thing than a gift, but it was both. I liked the idea of fixing it up into her liking instead of my own. The idea of making her happy that I did this for her, and no one else. I was going to put a lot of time and effort into the house, more than I have in anything.
I was standing in that same spot on the porch, thinking of how I would do all of what I wanted. I decided I should check the perimeter of the house, so that I could see everything. I walked along the sides of the house. Windows set at each room, curtains covered them so you really couldn't see the inside. I walked along the back of the house again, because all I did at first was stand there. So I looked at all the room I had. The house had been built on a very big lot, so in easy words I had a lot of land that I could really work with.
When I searched the front yard, I saw just how much needed to be done. The front door was just there, in the middle of the house, like it was random. The door also did not match the house color. The door itself was a dark lime green. There was so much land that a whole garden could've been planted, but never had. The grass which lined the pavement wasn't anything. There was little grass, as most of it was patches of dead, yellow, hard grass.
There was no denying that the house needed a lot of work, but it wasn't that bad looking. The paving was all messed up, like it hadn't been replaced for a long time.
I went back inside, heading upstairs. I never really went up there, just on some occasions.
The inside of the house looked better than the outside. There was nothing up there, just empty hallways and rooms. I had just one room that wasn't empty, and that was my art room. It was filled with my pencils and other stuff that I used. I only went up there sometimes, and those times were before I had Jasper. I never wanted to go up there and leave him downstairs, but then I also never wanted to bring him up there. Fumes wouldn't have been good for him to be around. It's not even good for me to be around, that's why I wore a mask.
I went downstairs, picking up my phone and calling Harry. "Hey, Zayn." He answered.
"Hi." I said.
"Well, what's up?" He asked.
"I just wanted to tell you that I'm fixing up my house for Perrie." I told him.
"You're doing what!?" He screamed over the phone, as if it was the most shocking thing he'd ever heard.
I moved the phone away from my ear, putting it back after a few seconds. "I said, I'm fixing up-"
"I know what you said... But why?" He asked.
"Because she deserves it. We're going to get married. She doesn't even know what job I have, or anything about me." I told him.
"Well, when you put it like that it sounds like I'm stupid." He said sarcastically.
"Yeah, well, it was stupid, Harry." I said.
"How was it stupid?" He questioned.
"How! Who asks 'why'?" I said.
He laughed. "You have me beat there. Anyway, what's the wedding plans?"
"I don't know yet." I said.
"Who's going to be your best man?" He asked.
"I don't know, I haven't thought about that." I said.
"Really?" He said in disbelief.
"Yes, Harry, really." I told him.
"Oh, my goodness." He said.
"What?" I asked.
"Oh, holy garbage cans!" He said.
"What's wrong with you, Harry?"
"I don't even know." He said.
"Harry?"
"Yeah?"
"You're crazy." I said.
"I honestly don't know." He laughed. He's so crazy. I thought.
"Okay. Well, when Perrie and I can, we'll discuss wedding plans." I said.
"Okay. Well, do you want me to help you with the house?" He asked.
"No, thanks. I'm hiring help." I said.
"What kind of help?" He asked.
"A landscaping artist, an interior designer and a contractor." I said.
"Oh, wow. That's a lot of work you plan on doing." He said.
"Well, I won't really be doing the work. I'll just be telling people how I want it to look. Basically, I'm going to set it up." I told him.
"That's cool. When are you going to do this?" He asked.
"I'll start on the house tomorrow, but I have to go. I should call and arrange everything." I said.
"Okay. It was nice talking to you. Bye." He said.
"Bye." We hung up and I dialed many numbers. The first person I contacted was the interior designer, Bill Prescott. He would help me arrange the furniture and stuff, the rooms.
The next person I called was the contractor. He would help me change the paving for the porch. He'd also help me with room, if I had to pull or break out walls. Jared Stewart.
Then, lastly, I called the landscaping artist, Melody Canal. She would help me plant a garden, and she would help the grass. Which I had none. I ended my phone call, heading to my room. Caraline was over watching Jasper.
I went into the room. "Thank you. You can go home now. Sorry it took so long, they had me wait forever." I said.
She laughed, handing Jasper to me. "It's okay. I'm going over Harry's house." She told me.
"Okay. Bye." I said. She waved and left. I took Jasper to eat. I walked into the kitchen, getting some baby food and sat on the couch. Jasper's favorite baby food was the peaches, so I had mainly peaches, but other flavors too.
I fed him with the baby spoon, as he sat on my lap. When he was finished, I laid him in his crib, washing my hands. After he started to cry, I changed his diaper, bathed him, and all the other things I had to do, I did.
At twelve, I decided I should go to bed. The helpers were suppose to show up in between 8 and 12. But, as I've learnt, it would probably be changed to 12 and 3. I don't know, let me not make accusations.
I went to sleep, waking up at 7a.m. I went into the kitchen, making me a cup if coffee to start the day. I sat in silence, drinking my coffee and staring at my phone. I had planned on calling Doniya to watch Jasper while I was busy. I would've called mom, but I was going to let her get a much needed rest. I picked up my phone, dialing Doniya's number. There was no point in wondering if she's awake or not, my whole family got up early.
"Good morning, Zayn." She said.
"Good morning. How are you?" I asked.
"I'm good, thanks. How are you? You sound tired." She questioned.
"I'm okay, yeah, tired. I'll be fine." I said.
"Okay. Well, do you need anything?" She asked.
"I was wondering if you could pick up Jasper for me?" I asked.
"Of course I can." She said.
"Thanks." I spoke. We talked for a little over 5 more minutes, hanging up and then I waited. She arrived, taking Jasper and some of his things, then leaving. Around 12 o'clock, Melody Canal arrived. This was the beginning of something new.
