Chapter 4

Hiro's P.O.V

I hit my head against my desk in frustration, I shouldn't have lied.

Why did I tell her that Aunt Cass was my mother?! The answer was obvious though wasn't it? I didn't want her to know my past.

Just as I showered and changed into my bed clothes, Aunt Cass knocked on the wall and entered my attic like room.

"Hiro, can we talk please?" she asked. I nodded confused as she went to my desk chair and pulled it out.

She sat on it cross legged and stared at me as I sat on my bed.

"Why did you call me... Mum?" She asked gently. My eyes widened and mouth opened a gap.

"I... I... I'm sorry Aunt Cass... I didn't want (y/n) to know my past... I know lying is wrong and I'm sorry it's just I..." I sighed frustrated, running my fingers through my raven locks, tugging at it.

"Hiro... It's okay sweetie, I understand... But next time let me know." Aunt Cass said, hugging me.

"Thanks." I mumbled.

"She will be back tomorrow. I'll play along but Hiro, promise me you will eventually tell her. It will be better if you do." She said, smiling warmly and leaving my room.

I flopped backwards on my bed, looking at the ceiling. What would Tadashi do? Tadashi do, Tadashi do, what would HIRO do?

I began thinking about my actions and winded up thinking of the day I first saw her.

She was stealing and I don't know why. Aunt Cass told me she was from a rich family, why would she need to steal if they were rich?

She also needed to work, apparently because she wanted to help at home. It just didn't make sense.

And the day I chased her, she said something about lies? I was confused, what is she trying to say? And why in riddles?!

I crawled under my bed covers and closed my eyes, only thinking about that mysterious girl.

When I woke up, I got ready to help (y/n) out for work. I ran downstairs in time to see her walk in. "How come you don't go to school?" I asked.

"I could say the same for you." She said.

"I go to a university, the professor gave us the week off." I explained. Her eyes lit up at the word university.

"University? What kind?" She asked.

"Science, it's the SFIT." I explained.

"Is there a way you could get a scholarship?" She asked.

"Scholarship? The school is free as long as you hand in a student profile." I explained.

"I finished school early to... I'm searching for a university." She said shyly, heading to the kitchen and starting to make cupcakes.

"Well, just get your parents to sign your student profile and your good to go" I smiled. She dropped the spoon she was holding and quickly bent down to get it.

"Oh, cool... Parents signature... Right." She mumbled.

"Uh is something bothering you?" I asked.

"What?! Oh no. I was just thinking about my parents... They uh can't sign anything because they are currently away... On a business trip." She explained.

"Oh.." I said.

"How's your mum?" She asked. My heart shattered at that comment, my mother has been dead for 11 years... I knew she meant my Aunt but memories came flooding in.

Soon, tears appeared in my eyes and I blinked them back. "She's good... Still working hard." I lied.

(Y/n) nodded as I noticed tears in her eyes. "Are you crying?" I asked.

"What? No.. Something is in my eyes." She said. I shrugged it off and continued to clean the kitchen.

(Y/n) P.O.V

It must be nice... To have a mum I mean. I could tell. I quickly blinked my tears back, I wasn't going to cry for my mother, I promised myself that months ago.

I continued to work with Hiro, the only sounds were the occasional "pass me this and that" sort of thing.

Once we were finished, I grabbed my daily pay and headed out of the door.
I went home when I decided to text (f/n).

"Hey (f/n)... You still sick?" I texted. A couple minutes later and she replied.

"Yeah... But I need to talk with u... I'm moving to Australia... Forever." The text read.

"Oh... Why?" I asked. I was used to people leaving, I guess it meant one less person to worry about.

"Mum found a new job there... I'm so sorry..." She replied.

"It's cool, I understand." I texted.

"Thanks... Sorry." It read. That was the last text. I sighed deeply and flopped onto my dirty bed, closing my eyes and dropping off to sleep.
