Chapter Six: Bridget

Myra allowed herself to be swallowed by her bed. She had no hesitation relaxing and taking a few seconds to breathe. That is, until she noticed her new Amiibo companion looking at her with smiling eyes. Myra laughed out loud with a grin.

"Quite a day, wasn't it?" The young girl sighed, sitting up. "Makes tomorrow all the more anticipating." She added. Link nodded in partial agreement.

The moon was peering in through the window. Myra stood up and wandered over to look. Soft, fluffy white snow began falling from the sky. It was so gentle in the way it harmlessly fluttered to the ground. People walked by on the path outside her dorm once in a while, leaving fresh footprints.

Suddenly, Myra began to feel oddly hungry. That's when she realized she hadn't eaten since, well, yesterday! Giving in to her growling stomach she made for the door. "You up for something to eat?"

Her companion shrugged, following her out into the hall after she threw on her coat and boots.

A few doors down, Myra heard footsteps. She whipped around to spot Elaine coming down the hall. Elaine's Amiibo Partner was in the figure form. Not in a mood to chat, Myra turned and rushed to the stairs.

She remembered Barley saying something about a café a few blocks down. Suggesting this to her companion, they headed for it.

"Hey, I'll race you there!" Myra grinned, not waiting before rushing off. Though she was careful not to fall on the slippery ice.

She rounded the corner and passed a few more houses and various buildings. The street lamps provided a comforting glow, and paired with the snow made it feel a lot like Christmas. That particular holiday was her favourite. Now that she thought about it, Myra was very excited about spending it with Enzo, Link, and the others.

At last Myra came upon a humble little building. It was made of the same grey brick as the rest of the town, and had an overhang along the top. Snow had gathered there making it sag a little. The door and windows were rimmed with smooth dark oak. Artificial light came from inside.

Funny enough, when she looked, Myra read that the café's name was 'Smashville Diner'. It was a somewhat fitting name. In all honesty she didn't know what to think of it.

Link caught up to Myra quickly, pausing outside the café beside her. Smells of food caused Myra's mouth to water. Delicious cinnamon and frosting, sugary and sweet. Lots of the smells indicated sweets and treats, although she was sure there was something decent to eat there, too.

Myra wandered up to the door and opened it, allowing her Amiibo companion through as well. Inside was heated. The warmth was welcome with Myra, who threw off her gloves and plopped down on a seat. Aside from herself and her Amiibo Partner, no one was there.

Along the sides of the single room café were small booths. They had green cushioned benches and the same dark oak making the skeleton of the seats. Around the counter were stools, and various tables along the middle. Myra happened to be sitting on one of the stools.

Somewhat reluctant, her companion joined her. Almost immediately someone walked over to them from behind the counter.

"Hello, my friends! Welcome!" Myra looked up as a young lady practically skipped over to her. Her eyes were bright and full of life. She wore a typical waitress's apron, and her short black hair fell only to her chin. "My name is Bridget. Over here is my companion, Kirby."

Myra had a suspicion that of course Kirby would be the companion of whoever was nearest the food. It only made sense. Besides, Bridget seemed nice enough for such a cute pink puffball to trust.

"Thank you. I'm Myra, and this is Link." Myra caught on that when doing introductions, most 'humans' introduce their companion as well. She could understand it somewhat, as it demonstrated the Character's trust. Personally, Myra didn't want anyone else telling others who she was.

"Good to meet you, Myra! Say, you're one of the newbies, aren't you?" Bridget mused, wiping down a glass with a white cloth.

"Yeah, I am."

"Well, I guess I should wish you some good luck, then!"

Myra was slightly taken aback, but brushed it off. "Thanks, I guess."

Bridget skipped the last comment. "So, what would you like? You obviously came here to eat, not talk." She said that with a smile.

"Oh, uh, what do you suggest?" Myra fumbled a little with her words.

"The shrimp pasta is actually pretty good, if I do say so myself." She leaned over and placed an elbow on the counter. "I'm proud to also say it's Mario approved." Bridget said with a silly grin. Myra laughed.

"I'll try it then!"

It barely took five minutes for Bridget and Kirby to disappear, then emerge again. Thanking them, Myra began to eat. She wolfed the food down quickly, relishing the taste and the smooth sauce as the noodles slid down her throat. The shrimp wasn't half bad, either. They'd gone through the trouble of pulling the tails off, so Myra had no problem gobbling them down like a shark would a fish.

When she was finished, she took a napkin from the dispenser and wiped off her face, which was probably covered in food.

"Hey, thanks you two." Myra said. "But, uh, what am I supposed to pay you with?"

Bridget smiled at that. "Your group leader probably hasn't told you about out currencies, I presume." Myra shrunk down a little sheepishly at that. "But it's alright, I'll give you that one, on the house."

"Really? Thanks a ton!"

"No problem." The girl grinned, picking up her Amiibo Partner.

Myra gathered her stuff, throwing on her coat and mitts. "See you Bridget, Kirby," She waved her goodbyes. Link followed her out into the cold night.

Already the sky was pitch black, and they navigated back to the dorm solely by the streetlights. When Myra glanced at her watch, it read 10:26. Pretty late. Not wanting to lose any sleep she began running, her companion not too far behind.

~*~*~*~

After a while they entered Myra's room once more. She hung up her coat using the hooks on her door, pulled off her boots, and slumped back onto her bed. Strangely, it smelled freshly washed. The sheets were patterned with purple and orange circles that matched her purple walls and dark hardwood floor.

Looking up, she realized even Link appeared tired. "It's gonna be a long day tomorrow, eh?" She said, knowing not to expect much of a reply.

Her gaze turned more thoughtful. "Hey, I just want to let you know it was great meeting you today. I never thought, really, that you're... Y'know, real. I mean, I always kinda acted like it. But figuring that out, and becoming friends, really made my day. Thanks, I guess." She said. At once she felt like that was really cheesy, and a bit mushy of her. But to her relief he smiled.

Myra pulled out the base, asking Link to return to the Amiibo form. He obliged. Now, when she looked at the figure again under her reading lamp, she felt kinda bad about stepping on him. Maybe whatever had caused her entire room to move here had made the figure fall over.

Yawning, Myra wandered to the closet to pick out some sleepwear. Inside, though, was a couple of neatly folded and placed clothing. There was a green button-up coat, with the same Amiibo pocket, a t-shirt, blue and white fleece pajamas, grey sweatpants, a white and green infinity scarf, as well as a thicker knitted scarf of the same colour. It was obvious someone had put these here for her, probably Barley or Lillian.

With a thankful smile Myra pulled out the pajamas and threw them on. She put the clothes she wore that day in a hamper at the back of the closet. They were very comfortable, and still warm from wash. At this point, she felt like she was at a luxury hotel.

This late at night, and after such a long, strange and tiring day, Myra welcomed her bed. She inched under the covers and brought her pillow under her head. Letting out a sigh she reached over to turn out the light. Her eyes landed on the Amiibo form of Link.

"G'night, buddy." Myra grinned, and switched off the lamp.

Another chapter, finally! I apologize; this one's so short. But I have some huge plans for the future, and just needed a filler chapter so you guys wouldn't be left without something for a while. Also, I needed to introduce you to a soon-to-be important character! Remember to vote, and possibly comment!
