Trainer

*Three Months Later*

So, since I was finally eighteen, I could decide on whether or not I wanted to be done with sorcery or not. I chose to be a Trainer. There were Regulars who were gonna need help, that I never got. And since I knew what to do, the Regulars would be fine. I hoped. It's been a weird six months. Stormy, Kayla, and I had become a really strong trio. Nathan went off with his worlock friends. Darnellel was a Trainer now, too, so I saw him every day. And I occasionally saw Mason, when I had free time or if I took a walk in the woods.

As for Ryder, I saw him a lot. In fact, I was his trainer. Due to the new technology we got, humans had the option to gt powers of their choice, if they wanted. And Ryder wanted to be a sorcer, so we could see each other more. Mom still teaches at that academy, and Dad had been out a lot lately. Either on weird "magical" business or with Mom.

I saw Issac here and there. I'd call occasionally. Him and Fay were getting married soon. Oh, and did I mention that Erica ended up with Mason? Nice, right? They were such a cute couple! The cutest! Today was the first day of us Trainers to train the Regulars. So all the Trainers stood at the door as each Regular filed in, with excited faces to learn the wonders of sorcery.

Oh, and something else I forgot to mention! Wait for it.... I was pregnant! I hadn't gotten pregnant the first time I'd had sex with Ryder. (Yes, he's Ryder's baby). I didn't know if he was a boy or not yet. It'd been three months, so I was barely showing. Ryder and I were getting married soon, too. And in two months, I would find out if I was having a boy or girl. I wanted a boy. I really did.

As the Regulars filed in, I looked for Ryder. Oh, and as for me taking over my dad's spot, I didn't. Some girl named Macey did. I barely knew her, but she has become an Important this year, so she knew way more than me. The moment I saw Ryder's face, I couldn't help but smile. He saw me and I hugged him. He no longer went to AA meetings, because he didn't even buy beer anymore. Everything was perfect.

"I can't believe you became a sorcerer for me," I said.

"You should know me by now. I'd do anything for you," he said.

"Okay, Regulars!" Macey said. "Huddle up!"

"Go," I said and went to the Trainer's section.

"Now, my name is Macey Stevens. The person that ran this before me made everyone call him Master, but you don't have to do that with me. I find it weird. Anyways, these kind Trainers have already selected the Regular they wish to train. Some of you will be paired with more than one Trainer, and that's fine. Some of these Regulars didn't even get Trainers last year. So, as soon as you get assigned your Trainer, follow their instructions."

She started calling out pairs. I watched as each went off their seperate ways. Darnellel and I were actually friends now, so we could carry on normal conversations.

"Who'd you pick?" I asked him.

"Jade, Darnellel Nesson," Macey said.

"That answer your question?" he smirked at me.

I looked at Jade as she approached him and it was that same brunette that kissed him the day I got run over.

"Ryder, Katlyn White," Macey announced.

He walked up to me and I took out the papers. "Follow me."

"What are we doing?" he asked.

"I'm simply going by the rules," I winked at him. "Okay, so this is your room," I opened his door. "The beginning is always easy. It's kind of like school, but not. And this is where you'll be living. School is just across the street. After school, you come here and we go over various thngs. On the weekends, we have a whole schedule. At nine, we have breakfast, then at 12, we have training, at 3, is lunch, then more training till 8, and then everyone goes to sleep at either 9 or 10."

"Got it," he nodded. "And, uh," he cleared his throat. "where is your room?"

I nudged him. "You know I don't wanna do it until the baby's born."

"Your mind is in the gutter. What if I need help, or I can't sleep?" he played innocent.

I just laughed and rolled my eyes. "Upstairs, room T18."

"Got it," he winked.

"Now, what we need to do is fit you for your cloak," I said taking the measuring tape.

I wrapped it around his long shoulders and looked at the number, wrote it down, and put it up. "Your cloak will be here in a matter of days."

"What color is it?" he asked.

"Regulars have brown ones, Trainers have red ones, Mentors have black ones, and Importants have white ones," I said.

"Anything else I should know?" he asked.

"We start Training sessions thirty minutes after everyone's paired," I said.

"Got it," he wrapped his arms around my waist.

I kissed him lightly and gave him that look. He just nodded and I shook my head. "You're crazy, you know that?"

"Yeah," he nodded.

"Well, I need to check back with Macey, okay?" I said.

He nodded and let me go. I went down the stairs and Macey set her clipboard down and was getting supplies ready.

"Hi, Macey," I said.

"Katlyn, hi," she said.

"You can call me Kate," I nodded.

"Need something?" she asked.

"I was just seeing if you needed any help with anything. Ryder is all prepared," I said.

"Wanna help me get these things off the shelf?" she asked.

"Sure," I nodded as I helped.

"So, why'd you pick Ryder?" she asked.

"I know him," I shrugged.

"You two are together, aren't you?" she laughed.

I nearly dropped what I was holding and chuckled. "You got that from 'I know him'?"

"No, I got that by the way he approached you and the look you gave him," she said.

"Oh," I blushed. "It was that noticable?"

"Yeah," she nodded.

"Well, Ryder's a great guy," I said.

"Are you carrying his baby, too?" she asked.

I nearly tripped on my foot. "How are you figuring these things out?"

"I'm just that good," she shrugged.

"Is my bump noticable?" I asked.

"It's not too bad. You look about twelve weeks," she shrugged.

"Scary accuracy," I laughed.

"So, what do you think you're having?" she asked.

"I hope a boy," I smiled.

"Oh, you like that whole 'older brother protecting little sister' thing?" she asked.

"Yeah," I nodded.

"I hope Ryder's a good father," she said.

"I know he will be," I laughed.

"Well, time to get started," she shrugged and rang the bell. "All Regulars report downstairs now!"

When everyone was here, I watched their faces and told myself this was going to be a good year.
