Chapter 13
Natsha held the ultrasound sheet in her hand, her expression contemplative. Lorena walked beside her, both hands tucked into the pockets of her hoodie. From head to toe she was covered in nothing but black, her face also hidden behind a black mask.
"Let me keep it, okay?" Natsha asked, her eyes curving into a smile behind her white mask.
"Whatever." Lorena replied.
Since Lorena wasn't looking at Natsha, she couldn't see the meaningful look in Natsha's eyes. Suddenly, something "bumped" lightly against her cheek.
"MOA!"
Lorena covered her cheek and whipped her head toward Natsha. Her eyes widened. Even though it had only been their masks touching, she still glanced around the hospital hallway. After making sure no one had seen anything, she finally let out a sigh of relief.
Natsha's eyes curved into almost a straight line. Lorena immediately landed a punch right on her shoulder.
"Ahh..." Natsha was about to cry out, but Lorena had already clamped a hand over her mouth. Lorena hooked an arm around Natsha's neck, stopping the shout that was about to escape. In truth, Natsha still yelled a little. it was just much quieter.
A nurse passing by looked at the two of them with a suspicious expression. Today Natsha was wearing a white shirt with a long black skirt, while Lorena was dressed in black from head to toe. Everything about them inevitably made people think too much. With teary eyes, at least that was how it looked to the nurse. Natsha was being held by the neck by Lorena, her mouth covered. She looked small and easy to bully. On top of that, the nurse caught a faint scent of red wine pheromones and immediately knew Lorena was an alpha.
Oh God! Was he witnessing an alpha bullying a weak little beta?
"Hey, you there! If you do anything excessive, I'll call security!" He warned. "You're an alpha and you're bullying a beta?"
When Lorena heard what he said, the corners of her lips hidden behind the mask twitched uncontrollably. Natsha could see the irritation spreading across her face.
Natsha smiled brightly. Of course Lorena could feel the movement since she was covering Natsha's mouth. She glared at her.
Natsha signaled to her with her eyes. Lorena rolled her eyes, released her, then walked off first.
When Natsha could finally straighten up, the male nurse suddenly realized that this person actually seemed a few centimeters taller than the female alpha from earlier.
Natsha smoothed the wrinkles on her shirt.
"Thank you!" She said sweetly, her voice fully on display. The male alpha felt dizzy for a moment. "My girlfriend is pregnant, so her temper has been a little different."
Natsha's next words were like a bucket of ice water thrown straight at his face.
Pregnant? That female alpha just now?!
His mouth closed and opened again. He stammered, but no words came out.
Natsha lifted her foot and walked away. The words "completely unbelievable" were written all over the nurse's face. Since he couldn't smell any pheromones from Natsha at all, he was certain she was a beta. Otherwise, he would have thought she was an omega.
But no... she didn't even seem to belong to the three common genders.

Natsha walked toward the hospital parking lot. She rummaged through her small bag for the car key. Just as she lifted her head, someone suddenly grabbed her collar and yanked her sharply to the side. Her back slammed hard against a concrete pillar. Natsha frowned.
When she clearly saw who the person in front of her was, Natsha immediately blurted out,
"Father!" She slightly lowered her head, even though her collar was still being tightly gripped.
"Don't call me that!" The man growled.
"How long has it been?" Every word he spoke carried burning fury. "How long have you been deceiving my daughter?"
Pheromones spread through the air. The man had completely revealed his hostility.
"The child has been sick on and off these past few days, yet you, as the mother, haven't even come to check on her!" He said, his eyes blazing.
Natsha frowned. Recently she hadn't been going to Emily's place often either, so she didn't know what the situation over there had been like.
"About this... when the child gets better, we will explain everything clearly to you." She replied calmly. She followed his lead and no longer used the old form of address.
Natsha wasn't speaking only from the position of an individual. Emily was included in it as well. The man vaguely sensed a hint of something, but it still wasn't enough for him to confirm anything.
He forced himself to calm down and released Natsha. Then he quickly turned around and left. Because if he didn't, no one could guarantee that her face wouldn't end up taking a full punch.
Natsha let out a breath. In just one day, her neck had already suffered two "attacks." She tried to smooth out the wrinkles on her collar. There was no way to salvage it anymore. Natsha gave up and stopped trying to fix it.
She stepped out from behind the concrete pillar. A familiar figure was leaning against a wall not far from where she stood. Lorena hadn't left yet. The smirk on her face was unmistakable.
"I thought you already went home first." Natsha said. Her steps stopped, leaving an arm's length between them.
Lorena shrugged.
"If I left early, how could I watch the show?"
Natsha knew very well what the words "watch the show" coming from Lorena's mouth meant.
"So, have you watched enough? Are you satisfied?" She asked. Though in truth, it wasn't really a question.
"Not bad." Lorena gave her evaluation.
Lorena stretched out her hand. Natsha raised an eyebrow at her.
"The car key." Lorena said calmly.
Natsha handed it to her. Without hesitation, Lorena pressed the button. The car door opened, and she got in smoothly before closing it. Natsha tried to open the car door, but no matter how much she pulled, it wouldn't open. She knocked on the window.
The window rolled halfway down just enough for her to see Lorena's face.
"Can you open the door for me?" She said.
Lorena removed her mask and looked at her through the dark window.
"Why should I open it?" She asked.
Natsha froze, blinking.
"It's... my car." She said.
"You like driving sports cars like this?" Lorena asked.
Natsha shook her head.
"Then why did you buy it?" Lorena leaned her head back and asked indifferently. Natsha felt that no matter what, she was about to be led around in circles again.
"I bought it for you." Natsha blurted out instinctively.
Lorena couldn't help but nod, clicking her tongue in appreciation.
"Then that's right."
The window rolled back up. The silver-gray sports car shot off right in front of her eyes.
Natsha stood there, stunned.
So... she had to call a ride home now?
