Chapter 3
Aria's POV
So, this Zane Julian guy followed me to all my classes until lunch. He had nowhere else to go- and no schedule from what he said. He kept trying to convince me he was from another world.
"For the last time, why are you following me? Why aren't you being a jerk to me like everyone else?!" I finally snap- in the worst place I could possibly snap.
The hallway.
During the lunch rush.
Zane frowned a bit. "I need your help- your the only one who'll speak to me. And I think you believe what I say... A little bit."
I sigh and glance behind me, seeing the five people who hate me most... I instantly regret making eye contact.
With him.
"Hey, you! New guy!"
I keep my eyes glued to the floor as the footsteps of Kyle got closer. Just looking once into his fiery hazel eyes sent shivers down my spine.
Zane looked at him, as if trying to relate him to somebody else... He was in big trouble, unless Kyle was feeling gracious.
"Hello. Can I help you?" Zane asks, glancing at me confused. I kept my eyes glued to the floor and stepped back a bit.
"Yeah, just wanted to give you a heads up..." Kyle chuckled. "Ya'know... Since your new."
Zane nodded. "What is this... 'Heads up'?" He asks. I sigh. What insult was he gonna call me to my face today?
"If you're ever gonna fit in, I suggest you ditch the garbage and hang with someone like me- instead of the school's trash."
Ouch. That one kinda hurt.
"I mean, you wouldn't want to hang around trash, now would you?"
Zane stayed silent, thinking of his options. He clearly knew nothing about Kyle and his gang, and it seemed like Zane recognized Kyle. "Garbage..." Zane murmurs to himself. Why wouldn't he ditch me? Everyone else already has-
"You're right. I definitely don't want to hang around garbage." He finally says.
I knew it.
Kyle smirks. "Good choice, buzz cut. So why don't we head out and grab something to-"
"Before we do..." Zane interrupts. Kyle and I both look at him curiously.
"I think it's about time that I take out the trash!" Zane growls at Kyle, his eyes glowing light blue- I think I'm the only one who noticed. He clutched his fists and in a single, harmless, and swift movement, Kyle was knocked back, he stumbled and fell bottom first into the nearest garbage can; stuck.
I stare with my jaw pretty much on the floor. Everyone around us gasped, even Kyle's gang backed away. Nobody ever had the guts to attack Kyle by themselves.
"Come, Aria. Let us go get lunch in peace." Zane seeths, his eyes losing the glowing aura. He took my hand and led me out of the scene.
Last thing I saw was Kyle's gang trying to get his butt unstuck from the garbage can.
His deadly glare.
I'm screwed.
