Chapter eighteen

I didn't know how my mom helped me into the car but before I realized, I was sitting in the passenger's seat with tears in my eyes. My mom drove slowly with tears in her eyes too. She stopped the car some miles from Will's house and turned to me.
"Hailey, please wipe your tears before you meet Daphne." My mom said in a husky voice.
"We need to be strong for her, please" she said. I wiped my face with my hands absentmindedly and remained leaning against the window.
"Please try to be cheerful." She said.
"We can't continue lying to her. I'm telling her everything." I said my voice barely audible as more tears strolled down.
"Hailey, please don't." She pleaded.
"Where will we say dad is then? We can't continue lying to her! I can't continue telling her what's not true. She's... She's not...... " I yelled as it turned into sobbing.
"I'll go get Daphne." She said and left the car.
The dream I had at school before my mom came for me played back fresh and new in my head.

There was lightening and then it started raining heavily.
I felt the door opened and closed, I looked back and Daphne was sitting there with a worried and suspicious look. I turned back to my mom and a tear strolled down her cheeks. We went back home in silence.
Dylan lied in the couch when we got back home. It seems today is a day of surprises. What's he doing at home by this time? He should have been in town, buzzed and wasted.
"Hey Hailey, you're back. How are you?" He asked springing up to his feet. I ignored him and went upstairs with Daphne following closely behind with her arms folded against her chest.
"Hailey?" She called.
"Daphne, I need some time alone please." I said and she sighed heavily before sleeping silently beside me.

A werewolf? A wolf. No way! No way! An unknown annoying wolf kept howling some distance away. I'm not ready to be a werewolf. No, no way. Tears kept strolling down my cheeks wetting my dress and the duvet.
I stood from the bed and headed out with a cardigan in my hands. I stomped out of the room as I felt Daphne's eyes on me. I went into the parlor where my mom was talking with Dylan. And for once in his godforsaken life, he's listening with all attention. But that's the least of my worries right now. I walked past them and Dylan stood up holding my arms.
"Let me go." I shrieked. My mom stood up alarmed, she came to stand in front of me as Dylan held my arms.
"Let me go, Dylan!" I shrieked tears streaming down my cheeks. "Hailey, calm down. It's raining. Where are you going?" My mom asked.
"Just excuse me. I'll come back soon. I need some time alone." I said.
"Okay, Hailey. Promise me you won't do anything reckless and harmful." She pleaded. Was she reading my mind?
"Just..... Leave me alone!" I wailed and jerked my arms off. I ran outside into the rain totally ignoring my truck. My mom called but I ran out of the house not knowing where I was going. Everything sucks! Life sucks! Everything feels stupid! Everything is unfair! I stomped my feet as I walked under the rain as more tears strolled down with anger boiling within me.
Who losses their dad and still expect to throw away their normal lives? How can I lost my dad and still face the rubbish of becoming a werewolf? Why am I even given birth to? Instead of living a stupid werewolf life, why don't I just give all up?! Why don't I just follow my dad and spare myself the werewolf rubbish?! Why should everything turn upside down for me in a matter of hours? Bobby, better come back and take your wolf rubbish to the grave! I have nothing to do with wolves!
I wailed so loudly till my voice became hoarse and the wail became barely audible. I dropped myself on the damp floor in the forest as the rain whipped my back heavily. I clutched my stomach and continued sobbing.
I stood up again with much energy and walked further into the forest ignoring the head throb. I walked to a place I have no idea of.
Before I realized, I was facing the sea. A strong chilled wind swept over me and I found myself relaxing. I sighed heavily and dropped myself in the fine sea sand. The rain had stopped falling but the weather was so cold and child. I wore the jacket which was now wet.
I stood and walked closer to the sea. The cliff was so high and slippery because of the rain. I found the need to jump off the cliff. I smiled at the idea and nodded to myself.
"I don't know how to swim, yes. This could be a blessing in disguise. I could use this opportunity to run away from being a werewolf." I said to myself. I sighed heavily and smiled sadly. "Poor Bella, poor Daphne..... Poor everyone!" I said and laughed humorlessly. Why did life decide to be so hard on only me? Fresh tears streamed down my cheeks as I remembered how my dad died in the hospital.
The nightmares played back. Everything, all the nightmares played back.
"Noooooooo!" I screamed loudly, it was earsplitting.
Without thinking, I jumped off the cliff into the sea. I didn't reach the water early making my scream a too loud one. I didn't know why I wanted to swim when I was finally dropped in the water by gravity, it seems only gravity was on my side. Sea water kept entering my nostrils and my mouth. Maybe this was a bad idea. I tried pushing myself up but I couldn't. I kept going down as water kept entering me.
I could feel I've touched the ground, I'll just wait for death to come for me quickly.
Somehow, I found myself saying I was wicked, instead of me dying this way, I could have rendered myself as a snack for Rose or Miss Behring. But I can't wait for school to reopen before I die. Pain will just nibble on me and it will take too long to die.

"Hailey, Hailey, are you hearing me?" Someone said very far away. I felt pressure on my chest as water gushed out of my mouth and nostrils. I was not in the sea but on land. I felt pressure on my chest again as water gushed out.
"Hailey, can you hear me?" I heard Robbin's voice which was laced with concern and worry.
"Let's take her to the hospital." I heard a female voice, God for once, please listen to my prayer, that female voice shouldn't be my mom's. My eyes fluttered open and I came eyeball to eyeball with Robbin, his lips barely an inch from mine.
I turned my head towards the female voice and thank God, it was Sav.
"Hailey, Hailey, are you okay?" Robbin asked and I nodded.
"Hailey!" Sav chirped and knelt beside me, brushing my hair with her hands as she smiled.
"Let's take you to the hospital," She said and they'd started to take me to Robbin's car.
"Hey, put me down. I'm fine." I said and they sat me in the sand.
I coughed heavily hitting my chest.
"Should I get her water?" Sav asked wearing a worried look.
"Yes." Robbin nodded patting my back gently. I gulped some water down and coughed even harder.

"Why the fuck did you jump off a cliff, Hailey?" Robbin scolded.
"Don't scold me for something you know nothing about" I whispered, standing up and walking into the woods as they run after me, calling my name.
