Chapter 1
*Third POV*
Frisk laid at the bottom of what turned out to be the Underground entrance. Below her grew a large patch of gold, shimmering flowers. As she lay unconscious from the impact, little did she know there was someone else prowling behind her in the shadows. As if she were some sort of prey, the monster watched her chest cavity rise and fall, waiting for the right moment for him to strike for the kill. Waiting until she woke up.
But there was another being wandering the Ruins in rather a foul mood. Cursing under their breath with a snarl.
*Frisk POV*
So this is it?....
This is how it ends?
One minute I am running from the inevitable... Which becomes the evitable.
Only to trip and fall to an unfamiliar abyss, was that evitable?
That made no sense.
God...I have school tomorrow...
How am I going to get up in the morning without being nearly late to catch the bus?
How am I going to eat a cream cheese bagel on the way school?
Will I ever be able to sit in the library again for lunch?
What about my grades? Homework can't do itself.
If I don't do homework, how will my father ever accept me?
My parents
Will they know?
Will they know what happened, or even find my body?
If they did, would they care?
I mean, they did want to give me away after all. Didn't even want me. I heard it myself.
They were going to drop me off at some orphanage far away from home, so I wouldn't be able to find a way back to them. They already had most of the legal work done by the time I had heard them talking.
Did they not love me?
Who am I kidding? Of course they didn't.
If they loved me, even just a smidge, they would have at least said it once.
There's still so much I wanted to do...
I haven't had the chance to live yet...
I never conquered my fear heights,
Never ran around bare footed in the leaves...
I never got to put my violin back in it's casing,
Never memorized that one song that everyone seems to know by heart.
I never got to talk about boys with the friends I never made.
I never had the chance to go on my first date,
I never had my first kiss.
I... I need more time.
A voice rings through the atmosphere... It booms and a light begins to crash through the darkness.
"The want- No. NEED. For you to live... It fills you with DETERMINATION."
My eyes open slow and heavy, lashes tangled up in my vision.
"Don't give up. Stay determined. Oh.. and welcome, My little reflection, to the underground." The voice subsides and vanishes with a mischievous chuckle.
....
I push myself up with what strength my arms had left to muster, scanning my surroundings. It looked to be a cave... Yeah, it was a large, lengthy cave... No telling how far it went. Late noon sunshine shone from above, raining golden string through the underbrush above in large beams. The ground felt soft under my scraped hands were several golden flowers rested. Looking around me, I realized there were hundreds- no, thousands of them. All in one large bunch. They grew only below the large hole in the ceiling where they could drink up the rays. I have to admit, I was drinking it up too. Dust particles glimmered around me, shifting the arua to a fantasy setting. Like a dream...Or something from a fairytale.
Out of nowhere, my arms give out and I slumped down to my elbows with a thud. I moan in pain as the rest of my body shifts, shooting pain in my lower legs. I must have landed too hard.
Luckily, the flowers somehow broke my fall. If they hadn't I'd probably be dead. After all, I fell at least 20 stories. As a matter of fact, how the hell would a small patch of small ass flowers break a fall like that? I linger on the thought of how I wasn't dead and on where that voice had come from. I could have swore I died...
A few tears brimmed my eyes at the thought. Oh god... What if I did die? What if I was dead at that moment? I could be in Heaven or Hell at this very moment! A few whimpers escaped through my grit teeth.
I was hurt, both physically and mentally. My brain throbbed at the thought that; I either died and was now a ghost stuck in limbo, or I nearly died but miraculously lived through a death defying drop. Regardless, my nerves were shot and I couldn't stop crying. I clutched my chest, bawling silently into flowers.
"Howdy!"
I jumped, wincing at the pain not two seconds latter. Expecting someone to be in front of me, I looked up. Nothing but darkness. Well, besides the light from above. I continued to search around, still nothing. Just a bunch of flowers. That's when one of them caught my eye...
It was much larger than the others, and had a much larger pistil then the others as well. It was almost in a head shape, and looked to have a snout of sorts...? Last I checked flowers didn't have eyes either... Or blink for that matter. It opened it's mouth (the one it shouldn't have) and spoke in an echoey voice. Again. Wait, what?
"You're new around here, aren't ya?" he asked charismatically, his 'face' closer to mine now to get a good look at me. I nodded in disbelief, eyes widened, were as they normally appear closed. I keep them shut/squinted because of how red they are. In elementary I was made fun of for them. So it became a nature for me to keep them shut. The flower holds out a leaf to me.
"I'm Flowey. Flowey the flower!"
I take it weakly with a small smile.
"Frisk."
Flowey giggled and took his leaf back. Sticking out his tongue he continued.
"You must be so lost and confused! Poor little human... Maybe I should how you how things work around here!" His tone began to change slightly, but I paid no mind to it. I was happy this strange flower was willing to help me in any way. It made me smile wider through the pain I was in. He waved his leaf in front of me and my soul reappeared. I had a suddenly bad feeling about whatever was going to take place. Uncomfortable, I had it hover closer towards me. The flower chuckled.
"THAT is your soul. It is the very being of your existence!"
"Yeah. I know that..."
Flowey was taken aback, and smiled strangely. "Golly! You know more than I thought! Not so confused then, are ya?" before allowing an answer, he winked mischievously. "I suppose ya know what we monsters DO with human souls...Right~?"
"No..." I tried to back up but remembered 'oh wait, I'm hurt.' Even so, I made a sad attempt to shift myself. Nada, just excruciating pain bolting throughout my lower body. There was a cackle and I found my head being shoved to the ground by vines. I screamed in alarm as something grabbed my soul, squeezing it and forcing me to scream louder into the dirt. The cackles continued.
"STUPID HUMAN! IN THIS WORLD, IT'S KILL OR BE KILLED!!!"
(((I TOLD YOU ALL I'D HAVE IT UP SOON! ~ Ekoing)))
