Chapter 20

???

I stand beside an empty armchair, running my fingers across poorly dusted felted fabric, morning for the company I once had long ago. Now all that remained was that of forgotten laughter and an untouched portrait, hanging on it's wall yet covered in white sheets.

I would like to think I am more than this mess of broken parts, more than the shattered monster I stand as now. I long for the day when all is right with the world again, the way it once had been. I wish to hear the old blissful chiming of laughter echo through these corridors again, even if just for a moment.

As dusk approaches, I remain in this room, gazing out the glorious windows as nothing but orange gold shines through these walls in which I continue to hide behind. This room, it's the only one I have left worth revisiting.

To my surprise, shouting begins emitting down the halls. I walk toward the disturbance, approached soon enough with strange news.

"Yes, state your business." I snip, annoyed with the bother.

"Sir! Forgive my intrusion, but a human has been reported in the Snowdin district!"

Irub my neck, puzzled. No human has been in the Underground since our last incident... Now was hardly the suspected time for another to show.

"Are you positive a human is what was reported?"

"Yes sir. It's a human girl, and from what I understood she is currently being watched by many other citizens due to her soul power."

"And what of it?"

"It's... It's boundless, Sir. It was enough to make people sick."

I begin grinning uncontrollably, my eyes smiling and stroking my thick, dark beard. "Really now?..."

"Yes sir!... Shall we execute an invasion, perhaps set up a bounty?"

I hum, thinking the matter through. It's still unclear if this human girl has a guardian yet, but I knew that Snowdin wasn't the best place for hiding out. Such a small town, it is. No one can stay hidden there for very long, and if this truly is a human we are dealing with then there is no way it can go a day without being recognized as such. I turn my head, peering at the guard over my shoulder and dark hair. "Yes, I want your best men for this job... And let it be known that I want this human back ALIVE, and unharmed."

The guard nods, stamping out of the room and calling out orders to his troops. My grin grew ever the more wider.

The time of redemption, it has finally arrived. This human was bound to be in my grasp soon enough, there was no doubt about it. And heed my words... I was not going to let the same mistake happen twice.

Frisk

Despite just having woken up an hour before, I was still sleep hungry, and drained. G noticed it after we had been hanging out for a bit. He raised a brow bone down at me. "Ya' tired again?"

I nodded, yawning silently. He just chuckled, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. "Ya' jus' woke up, pal."

I glared up at him, pushing his arm off me and brushing off my shoulders. "I'm still tired..." I cross my arms, leaning against him with a huff.

"How many hours do ya normally sleep, by chance?" He asked, almost as if it were some joke. He pushes me to lay my head in his lap, which I was at first hesitant to do, but gave into it. I stare up at his one golden iris as he stares down at my ruby eyes.

"Uh....5 to 6 hours... maybe? A lot of the time it's less."

"Makes sense. Ya need sleep, Dollface."

"But I never have time to!"

"Ya do now! So. Don' abuse ya me time. Sleep!" He orders playfully, cupping his huge hand over my eyes.

"Honestly, G. You sound like a mom." I sigh, removing his hand and shoving his arm into his chest.

He howls with laughter. It was genuine and...soothing I guess? His voice itself usually gave me goosebumps, it filled me with an uneasy tension. But...His actual laugh was calm and light. It's what I imagined his voice could've been if whatever clear trauma he's gone through never came to play.

I smiled softly at the sound of it, happy I gave him a little joy in his seemingly sad and stressful life.

"Well, I don' know really where I could've got it from, nevah knew mah ma."

Then most of the puzzle pieces fit together. So, he didn't really have a mom? Well, everything needs a mom, but his had died. I felt...Almost bad for him I guess. I mean, my parents sucked, but at least I had them for most my life. "Oh..." I said quietly. "I-I'm sorry..."

He shrugs. "It's whateva. Mah ma died after havin' Papy and Papy isn' that much younger than me so..." He sighed, looking away from me. "I don' wanna talk about my sad life."

I held back a snort. At least I was correct on how his life seemed sad! Wait...Should I be proud of that? I nodded. "Understandable. I won't pry anymore."

"Thanks..." He said softly, looking back down at me. I nod, giving him an awkward smile. He snorts, looking away from me again. "Aw c'mon! 'M tryin' ta be sad n' have a moment and here ya are messin' it up!"

I fake an evil laugh, amused with my work. "Ha ha! Success! The reclusive G is no longer as sad."

"Emphasize "as"." he chuckles, shaking his head.

I sigh, looking up at the ceiling as silence fills the room. I hate silence. Yes, it's blissful at times, but it's also torture. It leaves you to your own mind and creates an awkward barrier of speech. You can easily figure out what to say, but you never want to be the first one to speak. Instead of speaking, I sigh and close my eyes. I might as well sleep like he told me to, right?

As I started to drift off, I feel bony fingers run through my hair. "Sweet dreams, Dove..." G says softly. He carefully moves me into his lap, my head resting on his chest as he twirled my hair around his finger. So. He has a hair fetish. Great.

-(Tem Skip brought to you by TEH LOVELY EKO! GIVE HER A HAND MAH DUDES! (Side note: Yes, this is G writing XD))- ((NOW ITZA ME, EKO, Tem skiep now!))

                     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sound of screams suddenly ring into my conscious mind... I could hear more screaming and yelling as I woke up fully. Something wasn't right... There was an intense burning in my upper arm, causing me to whimper when trying to move.
"She's awake! Oh no, they'll surely be able see her now that she's conscious and aware!" Papyrus?
"That's right, which means you two need out, now. G, use the back alleyand push your way through the Glowing Cavern. Make sure to find a safe resting place in Waterfall! We'll meet you right outside of there." Grillby?
Whoever was holding onto me held me closer. They shifted, bony fingers tilting my head up to look at him. My eyes flutter open to be met with a bloodied and dirty G, who was breathing heavy somehow. For what reason, I'm not sure. "You okay?"
I nod slowly, but look down at my arm. It dripped dark red, nearly black blood from a gash that hadn't been there when I last fell asleep. It must've been the pain that forced me finally wake up. "M-my arm..." I coughed, tearing up from the sheer agony I was being put through.
"I know... I know. Ima getcha outta 'ere, kay? Jus'...Hold on as best as ya can."
I nod, looking back up at him once more with scared eyes. He sat me in his lap, quickly wrapping my cloak around me and pulling up my hood. He quickly pulled his up, standing with me in his arms. "Jus' keep ya head down."
I wrap my good arm around his neck and let the other hang in the shadows of my clothes, burying my head in his chest as he looked for a way out.
He soon took off in a sprint, holding me close so he didn't drop me. He kicked open a backdoor to wherever we were, peeking his head out. As he did, the screams and yelling got louder, and the smell of fire and smoke intensified. It caused me to cough as the thick dense smog filled my lungs.
He ran out again, sprinting behind the building to try an avoid detection. I softly began to sob. Why were people getting hurt? Who was doing all this? Why were we the only ones leaving while everyone else was being forced to stay behind?
"G!" A familiar girl's voice called. I looked out for a split second to see a purple flame. Fukufire. Her flames sparked and hiss, growing larger and roaring as smoke surrounded her small frame.
"C'mon! I know another way!" He followed after her as she led us to the back of another building. The warmth of her body practically engulfed me, the chill of Snowdin being fought against by the immense heat of what seemed like a hot furnace.
"Right or left?!" G asked, almost frantic to get out.
"Left!" She called. "Head to the clearing and take a right in order to get to the cavern!"
"Will do! Now head back an' find ya pa!"
"Okay!...But...! K-Know this..." She walked past us, heading back toward direction of Grillby's bar. "I...I love you, big brother G-G."
"I love ya too, kiddo. Now get the heck outta here!" G starts to run again as she took off herself.
He made a sharp left just like she did, running through what sounded like dead leaves. There were more quick steps behind us, making me panic even more. We were being chased and I knew it.
"God damn it...!" I heard G growl, one of his arms unwrapping itself from around me and leaving my back. I sensed his arm instead flying outwards, disturbing guttural sounds ripped through the atmosphere as the footfalls behind us seized to exist anymore. I flinched as they dramatically stopped, feeling my body shake in fear of what had just happened.
Peeking out from G's cloak, I look over his shoulder and behind us. My eyes widen as I stared back at the three dead monsters in armor. Several yellow glowing, bloody bones had been lunged into each one of their chests as though they were simply targets for dainty throwing darts...
None of them were able to swim out of their own pools of blood, leaving me to assume the worst as I tucked my head back down into G's chest, tears furiously cascading down my face as he sucured me before sprinting off at a quicker pace.
I didn't want to see this anymore. I didn't need to see anything else. Nothing else!
I held onto him for dear life, making a mental note to never get on his bad side. I prayed no one else would come after us and then prayed I wouldn't have to see the disturbingness that is G's murderous temper...
The screaming, yelling, the grotesque smell of burning and of reaping souls soon faded as we made our distance.
Just because it was all out of sight didn't mean a damn thing. It was all branded into my mind and the scene kept replaying itself like a record. The longer it all scratched around in my brain the more I sobbed, and the more resentful I became to the ones responsible for all the suffering.
Who attacked Snowdin?
G's Note
I believe this was the first time we have ever written the way we did! Basically, we wrote together. I wrote the base of the chapter and she made it WAY more detailed because I STILL BELIEVE SHE IS A MUCH BETTER FRIGGIN WRITER THAN ME! (Eko: Bitch why u lien'?) Sigh. Anyway. Sorry we were absent for so long. I was on a bit of a writing block and didn't know how to write really anything. Then, if you read my Axetale story, I spammed ya guys with like....15 chapters? 6-22 I think.....So.....C'MON, ITS BASIC MATH!! (Woah woah calm urself there, G. 0-0")
Uh.....16? Yeah! 16 chapters! Wow. I can't math correctly. Or grammar apparently.....
(Eko: Which is why I use Grammarly now XD)
ANYWAY.
Thanks for reading!
~G
Eko's Note
I absolutely LOVED this chapter! (I say as G fixes my errors) (G: You're welcome XD) I enjoyed it so much! G and I eventually just began to work on one document, making the writing process much faster. That, and while writing we had a few fun moments by just chatting in between paragraphs. Honestly, I highly enjoyed it and hope to do this again. (G: WE NEED TO DO IT MORE OFTEN!!!:D) (AGREED, FRIEND!) Besides that I agree with her, we did much better on this chapter!!
Lol, anyways, we send you all much love and we hope you enjoyed this chapter.
