Chapter 1
A summer day. That's how it all started. The sun was beaming, the air was perfectly warm. There were few clouds in the crystal blue sky, moving slowly with the thin winds that blew by every so often.
This was perfect football weather for them. Three boys; Kinji, Zero, and Tomo.
Kinji Matalis was 17, had short blonde hair, and bright green eyes. He was the older brother of Tomo. His one goal was to make everybody in the world smile... if not, making his two best friends smile was good enough.
Zero Poisson was 19, had brown hair a bit longer than Kinji's. He had deep, dark chocolate brown eyes that seemed black. But in the sunlight on bright summer days, his eyes seemed to shine, completely opposite of his personality. He was considered a brother to the Matalis brothers.
Then there was Tomo Matalis. Tomo was 12, and very stubborn. He had longer blonde hair that hung over his bright blue eyes. He was a crybaby, but could be tough if he wanted to.
It was noon. And the football match between Zero and Kinji was coming to a close. Tomo was on the sidelines, holding a chilled water bottle to a scraped knee, cheering both boys on.
"You're going down, Matalis." Zero sneered with a small smirk. Kinji simply laughed with a sly look in his eye. "In your dreams, Poisson!" He shot back. "Squirt! Toss in the ball!" The blonde boy yelled to his brother.
"I'm not sure this is how it's suppose to go- but okay!" The younger boy replied, kicking the football hard as he could with his good leg.
As the ball spiralled in the air, the two teens burst into a sprint, dashing to get past each other. "I got it! I got it!" Kinji yelled happily as he leaped up to catch, missing by an inch. The ball landing in the safe hands of Zero, who sprinted for the goal line.
"Go Zero!" Tomo cheered with a wide grin. Kinji went full serious, and in a burst of speed, was behind Zero in a matter of seconds. His energy high, the blonde teen snatched the ball as he rushed by his friend, getting the goal.
Zero and Tomo were jaw dropped shocked as Kinji walked back to centre field to meet the two boys. "Good game, Poisson." He said casually, as if nothing happened. Zero shot a glare of suspicion and turn away, storming off to get his bag.
"What's with him?" Kinji asked his little brother. The brainiac glared. "What's with you?! I know you have energy- but how'd you rush like that?!" He asked frantically, a million possibilities entering his young mind.
"Huh?" Kinji tilted his head with a dumb expression on his face. Tomo groaned, Zero coming up behind him. "You're weird, bro." He muttered, tossing Kinji his bag. "What?!" Kinji yelled back annoyed.
"Never mind that. Let's just get home... Didn't mum say she was making burgers?" Tomo asked as he put on his helmet. Zero raise a brow as he put on his own helmet. "Burgers? Count me in, dude." He smirked at the thought of Ms Matalis's Burgers.
"She could go into business with those burgers. Let's go- before mom invites the animals in to eat it!" Kinji laughed as he clicked on his helmet, and tosses each boy their designated skateboard.
"Sounds good." Zero replied with a nod, as the three boys push off their skateboards.
As they leave the park, Tomo gets a chill. "... Guys, I think we're being watched..." He calls out ahead to his friends. His brother sighs. "Squirt, it's a public area. Of course we're being watched." He replied as they slow down. "Yeah. Quit being so paranoid." Zero says coldly.
Tomo sighs and looked behind him, seeing nothing. "You're right... Sorry. Let's just go." The young boy mutters as they take off for the Matalis household again.
"... Did they see us?" A voice whispers.
"No... I don't think so." Another replies.
"Well... Now what?"
"We wait. We'll catch them on their next visit to the park... Seems to be a normal thing for them."
"Agreed. I'll make sure they get home safely."
"Alright. See you then..."
