Chapter 15 (Edited)
***
Three weeks had passed from when Judah had told me the plan. He didn't know that I was being watched or recorded, and I couldn't help but laugh a little, because he wasn't going to be a good Alpha, even if he wanted to be. He didn't notice that Rufus and I were planning something against him behind his back. Even if he did, it would still work in my favor in the end.
Dad hadn't told anyone about the plan, and I was glad about that because, I knew that I would've been questioned if it was the right thing to do to stop a tyrant. He spoiled Mom more, because he knew that he wasn't going to have that much time to spend with her, making her slightly suspicious but not enough to start questioning people.
No one knew what I was planning to do from my pack, however, they knew that I was hiding something. I had been getting home later than usual, and I was very secluded in my activities. I, also, had been training more, even though I didn't have train that much. I did it, anyways, so I could be ready for the battle and testing my strengths and weaknesses.
After all of that, I made sure that the whole pack would be ready to be handed down to Talu, because he was my Beta. I had kept all of this a secret from him, because I didn't want anyone to worry about why I was being so secretive.
I shook my head, breaking me from my thoughts while I tried to work on some paper work but couldn't. My whole body was sore from the exercise that I had been doing, knowing that I had to kill my mother tomorrow night. Ya, it was almost time to face the music.
I sighed a little and started to walk towards the kitchen, groaning when I heard Cal and Mal arguing with each other, again. They had always argued with each other, but these three weeks had been more than what she was wearing and shit like that. I stayed silent, making sure that I wasn't seen, wanting to know what they were arguing about now.
"I don't care if she said that she isn't going to tell us, Mal. Em is doing something dangerous," Cal said, stamping her foot on the ground. "We need to do something to help her out. She is our Alpha for fuck's sake."
"I know that, Cal. I can't do anything to help her, however, and neither can you. I have my duties to the pack," Mal replied. "Besides, she all ready told us not to pursue after her. Remember what happened last time when you tried?" I could tell that he had raised an eyebrow.
Cal just huffed and stormed away. She didn't even glance my way, not noticing that I was even there. Her whole body was tense, and it looked like she was about to punch someone in the face.
I sighed and shook my head, upset that she still wanted to know what was happening. I knew that it was going to cause her to get into trouble and maybe killed, but that was why I didn't say anything to her, or well to any of them.
I shook my head again, not wanting to think about those hurt filled looks from my brother and sister. I knew that they were just caring, because they were family, and I was their Alpha. However, I didn't want to see them end up dead by Judah's hand. That was why I had to do this alone.
I bit back a snort and walked over to Mal, who was rubbing his head as if he had a headache while he was sitting on the floor. I knew that he was just upset that Cal had left him, again, because he hadn't wanted to do anything about me having a secret.
Mal glanced up and was about to stand, when he saw that I was there. His mouth was open, but he didn't say anything when I shook my head. He closed it and watched while I sat down beside him.
I looked towards where Cal had left, knowing that she was headed towards her room. "You like her. Don't you?" I asked. I glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. I knew that she did like him, or else she wouldn't be acting like that around him.
"I-"
"Don't lie to me, Malcom," I said, baring my teeth at the other male. I narrowed my eyes and growled, showking him my rank. I hated being lied to, and he of all people should know that by now.
Mal looked at his hands, before nodding his head. He showed his neck a little, letting me know that I was still his Alpha. "I'm attracted to her, yes," he mumbled. He didn't look at me, probably not wanting me to feel threatened.
I nodded my head. "I thought so," I replied.
We stayed silent for a few minutes, thinking about stuff.
Finally, I broke the silence by sighing. I knew deep down that I was going to have to make sure that the pack came first before my own needs. That meant that they had to protect each other, not me. "I got a huge favor to ask of you, Mal," I said, glancing at the male.
Mal looked at me. Confusion was written on his face, as if he didn't know what I was going to be asking of him. Finally, he nodded his head, probably deciding that he was going to do whatever I had asked him. "Anything, Alpha."
"Watch over her. Also help watch over the pack. Something is going down tomorrow night and I... don't know if I'll make it out alive." I chose my words carefully. I didnt want him to know what I was planning to do tomorrow night. The three weeks of training and lying were going down, and I needed to make sure that I kept my head together. It was the only way to make Judah suffer.
Mal nodded his head. "As you wish, Alpha," he said. He didn't question on why I was asking him to look after the pack, even though I was the Alpha. However, he knew better than to question my judgement, because he knew that I would always put the pack first instead of me.
We stayed silent for a little while longer, before I stood with a sigh. "Well, I need to talk to my father and get things settled. He wants to do something huge for my birthday and I don't want to." I rolled my eyes. "'Sides, the silence is killing me." With that, I grinned at him before I left.
A frown appeared on my face, knowing that I might not live to see my next birthday. However, it was worth it, knowing that my pack was to be safe from a tyrant.
