Chapter 18 (Edited)
And now, my dear readers, I'll take you back to where I had left off. As a reminder, Talu and I had been talking before going to where I would face my "death" or execution. I had shifted into wolf form, even though I knew that I wasn't supposed to shift. And here, I begin my tale again.
***
"What is this?!" a male screeched, seeing me in wolf form. "What in the name of Alpha's Law are you doing in wolf form?"
My back bristled when I heard Judah screech like a female and snarled. My eyes turned a darker gray while I glared at him, my eyes filled with hatred and disgust. I could sense the shock of the pack while I lunged at him before backing away. My meaning was clear, I wanted a fight to the death.
Judah smirked. "A fight, is that what you want, Mutt?"
I snarled and clawed at the dirt. Hatred filled my veins while I looked at this monster. Judah wasn't even considered a man in my books. He would let other people do his dirty work, while he sat around telling lies about them. He didn't care about people's feelings or anything except for the fact that he wanted power.
Judah gave me a fake look of shock and concern. "But that is against the Elder Alpha's orders," he said, mockingly. "You are supposed to be in human form, and I am supposed to kill you easily."
"Under this circumstance, that rule has been changed by me," someone said, gravely. "Ember will fight you to the death."
Both of us turned to look at the top of the rocks to see an older figure staring down at us. His hair was white mixed with a specks of black. His green eyes, so much like my father and uncle's, looked at me with compassion and grief. It was as if he knew that I had to kill my mother for the greater good of the pack. He stood at 6'8 and still had the build of a younger looking male, even though he was well over 60.
Standing beside him was my father, Jack, and my old pack to the right. On the left, Bane as well as his father and a couple of their members stood, waiting and watching to see what was going to happen.
"And what do you mean by that?" Judah snapped. "She is crazy and deserves to be killed like the animal that she is!"
I snarled lunged at him. I clawed at his arm before dodging his fist that he had aimed at my side. My eyes were narrowed and ears were back while I glared at him.
"You provoked me for the last time, Bitch," Judah snarled. He shifted into his wolf form, which was smaller than I thought it would be. The color of his wolf was a ragged looking shade of brown with white and black spots on it. His eyes were black, and I knew that he was angry.
I bared my teeth and growled. *You have crossed the line, Judah,* I snarled through the link, causing him to blink in surprise. *Your tyranny stops here even before it will begin.* I circled him. *My father and I have known about your plan to take over the packs, and as long as I have an able body, you will never take it away from us.*
Judah tensed and stared at me wide eyed. *How..?*
I smirked. *Spies are awesome,* I replied. *Now, no questions. Today is the fight to the death.*
*And I wouldn't have it any other way,* Judah snarled before he lunged at me.
I side stepped him and watched him calculatively. I knew that I would be able to handle this, but I had to be cautious and focused. I knew that Judah's greatest weakness was his anger, so I just had to push the right buttons to get him to act without care.
Finally, after what seemed like an hour, Judah started to loose control. His attacks started to become rasher, as if he wasn't thinking straight.
A small smirk appeared on my lips while he lunged to my right. His right leg was torn up and bloody, and I knew that he wouldn't be able to hold his weight on it. I shoved against his left side and a small crack was heard because his leg broke from underneath the weight that I had pushed at his side.
Surprise filled Judah's eyes, but that was the last thing that he could feel before he was torn to pieces by me.
I let all my anger out on the now deceased Judah, and I didn't care that my pack was watching me with shock. I hated Judah for what he made me do, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to rest easy until anyone that was like him was dead. It was only then that I was sure that I would have avenged my mother's death.

"Enough," my father said, causing me to look up at him with one of Judah's bones locked in my grasp. "Judah is dead, and you need to explain yourself."
I rolled my eyes before clamping my jaw shut, breaking the bone. I shifted into my human form, ignoring the fact that I was covered in mine and Judah's blood.
"Explain what exactly?" Bane's father asked. "We are supposed to be having an execution."
"We did," I replied, wiping my mouth. "It just wasn't my execution." I looked around at the shocked faces of mine, my father's, and Bane's pack. A small smirk appeared on my face when I caught Marcus looking at me with a pale face.
"But it was supposed to be yours. You were the one that killed your mother."
"True," I replied. "But, I didn't want to." I took a deep breath and looked at my siblings and pack. "I was asked by my father to spy on Judah to save the packs from him. There was no question that Judah was a tyrant."
Bane's father snorted. "What blasphemy are you talking about?"
"Oh, it is not blasphemy. Judah was a tyrant that needed to be killed. He was wanting to take over the packs with the help of-" I paused and glanced at Marcus, my smirk deepening "-Marcus."
Half of that pack growled while Marcus just looked at me with fear in his eyes.
"You are telling me that a rabbit is acting?" Bane's father scoffed, rolling his brown eyes. His brown hair was pulled into a ponytail, not letting his hair cover his face. He stood at 6'5 with some muscle. However, he didn't have that much muscle as his son or my father.
I nodded my head and a static sound sounded through the whole forest, interrupting whatever I was going to say next.
"So, Marcus, what's up with you acting like a rabbit, but you are not one? I'm gathering this because you are working with someone from a different pack?" I heard myself from a recording.
"What is-"
"Well, people would not think that I would have the strength or the courage to go against my pack."
"Why do you want go against your pack? I mean, they are your family."
"They are weak. They do not care about us," Marcus growled. "That Alpha I have now." He growled, murderously. "And so is his son. Both of them are stupid and do not know what they can do."
I snorted. "And Judah does?"There was a pause, and I knew that I was walking around him. "Seems to me that he just wants to take control over the packs and not do anything with it."
"Oh, he will do something with it," Marcus replied. "The humans need to know that they are not the superior species. Judah will show them that."
"By enslaving the humans?"
"Yes." There was a pause. "Wouldn't you have them be enslaved to us?"
"They have bigger guns and the majority of the population around the world."There was a rustling sound while I moved around him again. "Anyways, you are just mere Warrior that isn't even the Beta. How do you like that?"
"Oh, I will be the Beta,"Marcus replied."I just have to kill Rufus and then kill that stupid grandfather of yours."
A growl echoed through the forest, matching my own in the recording.
"Are you alright?" Marcus asked because I had coughed afterwards, trying to conceal the growl. "Do you need a drink of water."
"No, I-I'm fine," I replied after another cough. "But, if anything doesn't go according to our plan, then my suggestion is to run. I'll give you a day's start before I find you and kill you."
There was silence on the tape recorder because both he and I had a staring contest before I started laughing. Marcus started to laughing after me, because he thought it was a joke.
"But seriously, you better run," I said.
The recording stopped and everyone was glaring at Marcus. However, Marcus was only staring at me with a face that looked really pale and frightened.
"Run as fast as you can, Little Rabbit," I said, smirking. "The hunt is about to begin."
Marcus yelped out in surprise before he started running away from the pack. He shifted into his wolf form and didn't pay any attention to us.
"Let him go," my grandfather said, looking at the members that were wanting to following him. "My granddaughter will catch him in a day." He gave me a caring look before turning to look at the packs that were gathered.
"What was that we were listening to?" Talu asked.
I looked at my pack. "A recording," I replied. "That fancy watch I was wearing was recording everything and anything that I heard as well as said. It recorded all my conversations with Rufus and my father as we tried to come up with any ideas that would work to kill Judah without killing my mother."
"But I thought you said that you had to work alone," Cal said, frowning accusingly.
"Technically, I did," I replied, glancing at her. "Rufus was all ready working on Judah's case before I was even born. That was why he was banished. 'Sides, I still had to listen to mine and your father, but they couldn't tell me how to do anything."
"Rufus, my son Rufus?" Grandfather asked. He glanced around, trying to spy his son. "Where is he? Is he close?"
"He is," I replied. "But, he doesn't want to go back to the packlife just yet."
"We have an uncle?" Kate asked. "And he was the one that was helping you?"
"Blame Dad on that one. I didn't know he was our uncle until Dad growled and told me to bring him somewhere." I cleared my throat. "The main reason why I did kill Mom was because I was wanting to kill a tyrant. There are still more tyrants out there and to avenge her, I was going to hunt them down and kill them before they could destroy the packs." I glanced around at my pack before I stopped glancing around and stared at Talu, who had an unreadable mask on his face. "However, I can't do that without a pack. If you let me, I would like to join your pack."
Dad took a sharp breath when he heard that. He knew that we were dominant by nature because we were pure-blooded Alphas. However, I was basically saying that I was going to follow someone else, even though I was the Alpha of the pack.
Talu blinked, and I could see that there was a bit of surprise in his eyes. He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, sheepishly. "I don't think I will be able to be the Alpha," he said, honestly. "I kind of made huge mess with the pack."
"Talu," I warned, growling. "What did you do with the pack? If you killed anyone..."
Talu smirked. "Ya, you won't be able to last a day under my control." He shrugged his shoulder. "I do like being your Beta. However, if you ever do something like this again, then you let me know." He glared at me before shifting into his wolf form.
I stared at him for a few minutes with a dumbstruck face. He was wanting to be my Beta even after all of this. He either might've been really stupid or cared about me too much. I shook my head and shifted into my wolf form, my tail and head higher than my pack.
Talu whined and crawled to me. He whined again before showing me his belly and licking my cheek.
I took hold of his snout and growled at him, earning another submissive whine from him. When I was satisfied that he did want to be my beta I licked his cheek before giving him a wolf grin. *Thanks, Talu,* I said. I looked at the other members of my pack, seeing their shocked faces. *But you might have to be the Alpha if they don't accept me.*
*They will,* Talu said, while he stood up and stood by my side. *They will trust you.* He glanced at Bane. *I don't know what he is thinking though.*
I followed his gaze to see that Bane was staring at me with an intense gaze. I yawned and shook my head, because I couldn't tell what was going on in that head of his. *I don't know,* I replied, truthfully. *I wish that I did.* I looked away first when I heard a whine and saw that Mal and Cal had came to stand in front of me when I was looking at Bane.
They both whined and submitted to me before they took their places. And so, that was what had happened until it was only my siblings left. Everyone else had accepted me back as their Alpha, and I could see that they were glad that I didn't actually want to kill my mother.
I stared at them and whined. I knew that they were the ones that had seen me kill her, and I knew that it was tough for them. I saw tears in Kate's eyes, and I instantly shifted back into human form and opened my arms for her to run in. "I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice wavering. "I-I-"
"Em," Kate sobbed before she jumped off the ledge and ran into my waiting arms. She crashed into me, going into my hug. She buried her face into my neck before falling to the ground.
I fell with her, making sure that neither of us got hurt. Tears leaked out of my eyes while I soothed her. "I know," I whispered. "I'm going to miss her too."
"I-I thought I lost you also," she sobbed. "You acting crazy a-and then going to get executed."
I chuckled softly. "You will never lose me," I promised. "You are my sister." I felt another pair of arms wrapping around us, and I pulled back to pull my younger brother into a hug also.
All three of us stayed there for a couple of minutes, accepting the comfort that the other was giving us.
Finally, I pulled away from them and placed a hand on each of their faces. Both of them looked at me with watery eyes, and I hated seeing my younger brother cry because he never really did, not even when he broke a bone or something. I took a deep breath. "Will you two accept me as your Alpha again? I will understand if you don't."
Both nodded their heads, yes, before they pulled me back into a hug.
***
Someone cleared their throat, breaking our little family reunion.
I pulled away from them and saw that Bane was standing there in his wolf form. My heart pounded in my chest while I looked at his fully black coat, with eyes that almost looked like coals from a burning fire. I nudged both Chris and Kate behind me while Bane started to circle around me, as if I was some sort of prey.
It was custom for a Male Wolf to look around the female before growling at the female to shift. It was basically a practice on which the Male Wolf would accept the female. However, since both of us were Alphas... we both had to circle around the other as well as draw blood from the other.
"What do you think-"
Bane snarled at his father, keeping his eyes trained on me. His meaning was clear, and that made his father shut up. Bane was going to have me and nobody else. Bane growled at me, and I instantly shifted into wolf form. He stood up with his head held high and growled again, asking me to submit to him.
I growled and snapped at the air, before lowering my head and tail down a little. I was letting him know that I wasn't going to submit fully to him, because I had been an Alpha for as long as I could remember, and we would be partners.
Bane grunted before he nuzzled my cheek. He soon shifted back into human form and sat down, waiting for me to circle him.
I copied his movements like he had done to me a few seconds ago before I went over to him and nuzzled his cheek, indicating that he was mine.
"We will have the ceremony in a week's time," my grandfather said, causing both of us to look up at him. "No babies until then."
Bane nodded his head before he lifted his head and howled.
I joined in his howl and one by one, all of us howled to let everyone know that we were alive and healthy. I howled louder than the others, because I wanted everyone to know that I was filled with joy because my pack and my mate wanted me, even after the mistakes that I had made.
