Freddy looked ahead of himself, ignoring the sensation of falling down and down through the Earth's sky, before he then noticed Flasheart and Sara falling a bit away and downwards. "Father! Sara!" He yelled out as he then leaned his body downwards and straightened his arms and legs, gliding towards Flasheart, who was holding outstretched arms and hands with Sara, his tail still fluttering upwards. Flasheart noticed him in the corner of his eyes and moved his head rightwards rightwards, Sara looking leftwards. Sara let go go of her left hand and Flasheart let out of his right, moving it rightwards. He opened his right hand as Freddy came upon him at an angle, Freddy holding out his left arm, aiming for Flasheart's hand, and after a few seconds of gliding, Freddy grabbed Flasheart's hand, then Sara grabbed Freddy's right hands all hands, now a threesome, all clasping tightly as they were entering the mesosphere. 

"Can you hear me?" Freddy yelled out, hoping they could hear him through his suit helmet and the blowing wind. "Actually, yes, I can." Sara replied surprisingly calmly, given the situation. "Guess our comms are up and running again, through I'm not sure anything else is." Flasheart replied. "Well, we can still breathe, so that's still working." Sara said back, before her eyes widened as she noticed something, then looked slightly upwards. "There!" She exclaimed, Freddy and Flasheart looking (Freddy leftwards, Flasheart over his left shoulder) to see Jai and Paul were falling a short distance away and above them, holding a hand together as a pair. They three then began yelling them over, and a moment later they began gliding downwards and over to them, so Freddy and Flasheart let go of each others hands, then moving a bit, opening up a space for them, using Sara as a hinge. A few seconds later, Jai and Paul came upon them, and easily clasped hands with Freddy and Flasheart (Flasheart's right hand taking Jai's left, Freddy's left hand taking Paul's right). They all looked at each other for a moment in silence. "So now what!?" Jai yelled out, breaking the silence. "Honestly,...I don't know." Freddy answered before he looked downwards as they came upon the clouds. "Well, guys... I... guess this is it." Sara spoke sadly. And they all looked at her with expressions of agreement. "Crazy way to go, huh?" Paul asked rhetorically. "Well, at least I'm dying my way, not in a prison or crime fight." Sara replied. "Imagine where I'd be now if I hadn't run up to the ship with you guys." Jai said with a chuckle, which made the others give confused looks at him. "Hey, Jai, Sara, Paul, why did you come with us?" Freddy asked curiously. "Because... because I owed you. You and your father. You got me out of that hovel, cured my sickness. So I thought I owed you a debt." Jai answered honestly. "I felt the same thing, too. Though I also was suspicious of Hotspur. Plus, I honestly wanted to see more of your ali-uh, Weren tech." Paul added, which made Freddy and Flasheart chuckle a bit. "I, uh, didn't want you to face Hotspur alone." Sara replied bluntly, which made everyone look at her with confused looks, as it was clear that wasn't the truth. Sara then signed."All right, the truth is... I came because of you, crazy one. I somehow didn't feel like it was time to say goodbye. Something just... told me to go with you. I, I guess it's because... I like your craziness." Sara admitted, looking at Freddy with a slight blush. Freddy stared at her for a moment before he then let out a sheepish chuckle, his flapping tail, wagging rapidly. "Well, look on the bright side. At least we're gonna die together. Right?" Jai asked them all. "Yeah, I guess." Paul replied. "At least I'm not alone." Sara added. "I'm glad it's you guys." Freddy spoke with a hint of emotion in his voice."who said this was the end? Oh, you guys want to know something else I forgot about these suits?" Flasheart asked with a rather cheeky grin. 

Everyone looked at him in confusion for a moment before he let go of Sara's hand, moved it as quick as a flash to his chest, clenched his hand into a fist by his chest, pulled out from of his suit a cord, and a black parachute then opened out of his back, quickly grabbing Sara's hand again as the chute jerked him vertical, causing everyone else to hold on tightly as the circle turned into a upward V shape, Flasheart arms out and downwards as he held onto the others, Freddy and Sara on his left and Jai and Paul on his right. They Descended towards the ground slowly, though it was clear the extra weight was straining the chute. After a few minutes, they came upon out of the clouds and saw the sea, and to their right, land! They saw ahead, in the waters a bit ahead of them, the ship was impacting the water, causing a massive series fireballs and a large splash of water. They stared ahead and downwards at it for a moment then looked downwards in silence, enjoying the first peace and quiet they've had in a while. "Harry..." Jai whispered to himself sadly. 

After a few minutes of silence, they came to within just a few feet above the sandy beach, so Flasheart let out of Sara and a Freddy first, them both dropping onto the sand, and a second or two later, he let go of Jai and Paul, them both falling the last few feet to the sand, Flasheart landed promptly a few feet ahead of them. Flasheart bent his upper body forwards as as he placed his hands on his upper feet, panting as he relaxed himself momentarily, then he looked over his left shoulder at the other, who stared back at him, also panting. Freddy then let out a moan before he fell onto his back in the sand, eyes shut. The others followed suit after a moment, Flasheart stepping over to them then sat down by Freddy. He stared ahead at the waves crashing for a moment, a solemn look on his face, before he then looked leftwards/downwards at Freddy, who was now sitting up, moved his left hand over to his son's suit box and his nano suit flowed off his body back into the box, which he let his left hand go off and let it fall into the sand. A minute later, the others were also out of their suits, Flasheart on his feet, pacing as he held his left hand up, staring at a pale blue circular hologram of the Earth above his forearm. "Where are we?" Sara asked as she saw the sky, which was approaching sunset, giving a beautiful colour amount the clouds and sea. "The coast of Namibia, Southern Africa." Flasheart answered. "What's the damage?" Freddy asked him, staring out to sea. "Most of North America, Europe, and Asia are mostly covered with snow. The tornadoes and lightning have stopped, the hurricanes have dissipating, the floodwaters receding, the volcanos have calmed down. No eruptions thankfully. Land Previously deforested or burned by fires, well that which was sitting unused, had now been completely regrown. The amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have been massively reduced. And, hmm. Now that's interesting. It seems that all of the major island chains in the world, especially in the Pacific, have all literally merged together to formed one landmass. The Marshall Islands are now one island. So are Indonesia, the Philippines, all of them." Flasheart explained before he turned off the hologram. He then pressed a button on helmet with his left hand. "This is Flasheart calling the Weren fleet. Can you hear?" He asked, his eyes looking upwards. "This is Lieutenant Cherry. We hear you, Flasheart." Cherry's voice came through the comms, which made Flasheart give a sign of relief. "Was the situation?" Flasheart then asked her. "The rest of the machines have been retrieved. The rest of the fleet has left the solar system. Captain Garth and I are on the sole remaining ship, standing by to pick you up." Cherry explained. "That won't be necessary...yet. Flasheart out." Flasheart said back before he removed his left hand from his helmet, then he moved his left arm over his his suit, touched the back box, and did the same with his nano suit.   

He then turned rightwards and stepped towards the others who were sitting together on the sand. He stepped up to them and saw down with them, Freddy on his left, Jai on his right, all watching the sun go down. "Well, we saved the world." Sara spoke out. "You know, when I left the Weren home-world, I was just hoping to get the Ring of the Moon, but I never imaged I'd be reunited with my father and learn about my mother." Freddy spoke with a smile as he looked rightwards at Flasheart who looked rightwards at him with a smile. "I'd still be running around Bristol, thieving to survive. Flasheart, Jai and Paul would still be stuck in that hovel." Sara added. "And Harry would still be alive." Jai spoke sadly. "Hey, he made his choice. The best thing we can do now is honour his sacrifice, not just to use, but to the world, to humanity." Sara said back. Jai's eyes widened as he remembered something, so he moved his right hand down into his trouser pocket, fiddled around in it for a moment before he pulled out the Ring of the Moon, which then glowed as he brought it out. He then looked rightwards at Flasheart, holding the Ring out for them to see, everyone noticing the glow then looking rightwards to see the Ring, their eyes and mouths widening in shock/surprise. "Where... how did you get that?" Flasheart asked, his voice hushed in shock. "I found it in my pocket when we were in that box on the ship. But I have no idea how it got in there. I didn't even touch it." Jai answered as he looked down at it. "Last I recall, Hotspur had that on his finger." Paul spoke, suddenly remembering it. "Like I said, the Ring has a wiseness, abilities unknown even to Weren's." Flasheart replied. "So,... do you want the honour you turned down? What your people asked of you all those years ago, which Hotspur usurped?" Jai asked, remembering the flashbacks he'd seen at the police station, holding the ring closer to Flasheart, leaning over to him. Flasheart then held out his right hand, which he left open beneath Jai's. So Jai moved his hand round-wards to let the ring fall onto Flasheart's hand, which laid still in his fur, Flasheart's eyes staring downwards at it for a few seconds.

"No." Flasheart shook his head, before moving his hand round-wards, letting the ring fall into the sand. "I've never been one for leadership. Freddy can take the mantle, when the time is right." Flasheart replied, looking leftwards at Freddy, who looked rightwards at him with a smile. "I've got nothing but time." Freddy said back, before he then moved closer to Flasheart and hugged him. "I love you,... dad." Freddy spoke, which made Flasheart hug back. The others watched before they got moved over to them and join in on the hug. Whilst their eyes were shut, the Ring of the Moon shone brightly, the shine beaming behind them, a transparent image of Jessica, Steven, and Harry appearing behind them, with proud smiles on their faces, leaning in to join the hug with them, but they couldn't feel them. But Freddy and Flasheart could both swear they heard her voice. "Well done, my love, my son." Then the images disappeared just as the sun set, Harry giving off a quick salute as he faded, just before the group opened their eyes, Sara looking upwards, seeing the stars. "Wow." Sara said in awe at what she saw. A beautiful night sky with countless stars in the sky. "What?" Freddy asked her. "I've never seen the so many stars in the sky." She answered as she kept looking upwards, the others doing the same. "Well, we're away from civilisation, so there no light pollution." Jai said. "With less pollution in sky, many around the world will be seeing more of the stars than they ever had. So in an ironic way, Hotspur has also repaired some of humanity's harm." Paul added. "He's... we have also shown them a better way forward. That not only are they alone in the universe, but they've seen what can be done when they stand together, they are all part of the same world. A beautiful, united world." Freddy said, the 'stand together' moment a reflection of him and the group. "A new world." Flasheart added, all of them staring up at the clear night sky, a reflection of the physical and mental change of themselves, and the wider world. A healed world, a people having learned many lessons in one moment, a world that has been given a second chance.

And yes, the Ring in the sand and the dead characters they knew appearing before them can be seen as a "Titanic" (1997) reference, and the stars stuff a reference to a few movies like "Independence Day" (1996) and "The day after tomorrow", but I think that's ok. I know that kind of talk of healing and united may seem naive and hopelessly optimistic these days, but still, it's possible. 

I'm thinking of doing a sequel, but not for a while, and I haven't thought about everything about that idea.
