Ember's POV:

I woke up and looked around. I was in a smoke looking cage, though strangely I didn't fall through. I looked at my surroundings. I saw that I was somewhere underground. The cage was hanging from the ceiling.

I looked to see another cage. It had the Protector in it. He was still unconscious.

I tried to remember how I passed out. The fire!! Shoot, why do I always loose control of my powers when I'm angry?! I hope I didn't hurt anyone. I must have passed out over all the energy I was waisting with my powers.

I heard noise and looked over. The Protector was waking up. I watched. He looked around and soon saw me.

"Ember, where are we?" he asked.

"Not sure yet." I said, looking around again.

I looked are the cage. It was solid smoke. What the heck? I tried melting it, nothing, tried using my dream/fear powers on it, nope.

"What the heck are these made out of?" I mumbled to myself.

"Chaos." he muttered.

Before I could reply, there was this evil laughter in the air. Two actually. One I knew all too well.

"Pitch." I snarled.

I hated him so much, especially after he... no, don't think about that, don't think about that.

"Even from here I can sense your fear. It's not fear of me, but fear of something that you hide and bury deep down." I heard Pitch say with a chuckle.

"And all that rage can lead to beautiful chaos, like the chaos in your soul." I heard another voiced.

I gritted my teeth, trying to shut them out. I couldn't see them, they were in the shadows.

"Come out and face us you cowards!!" I yelled.

The laughter grew. It started getting more distant. I hit the bars over and over again.

"Come back you cowards!! Stop hiding!!" I shouted into darkness.

What I didn't realize was that I had started crying, from both sadness at a distant memory and from anger.

Fawn's POV:

Someone was screaming, and I couldn't think straight because of the heat. Whipping my spare wand out of my pocket, I unsuccessfully attempted to create a forcefield to keep the fire away from us. The noise was too much, and I couldn't concentrate.

"Everyone, follow me! We need to head to the exit of the castle before-" I stopped in the middle of my sentence and screamed as a large beam from the ceiling came crashing down.

It seperated the group in half, leaving me, Caia, Tigerlily, and Kit on the side near the exit, and Destiny, Willow, Bella, Lili and Crystal on the side that was bursting into flames. Tigerlily tried running over to help, but I tugged her back, knowing she'd just get hurt in the process. They screamed and screamed, until one by one the screams stopped. I covered my ears, blocking out the sound; I couldn't bear it.

I sobbed along with the 3 other girls with me for a minute until Kit wiped her eyes, grabbed onto each of us, and tugged us towards the door. When we reached the courtyard outside, the castle erupted into flames.

Tigerlily fell to the ground, putting her head into her hands and I joined her. My legs shook and Caia and Kit joined us. Leaning her head on my shoulder, Caia cried and Kit muttered nonsense.

Despite the destruction that surrounded us and the grief I felt, I still wondered, what's next?
