Chapter 10
Christina's POV
I was so excited for my date with Luke tonight. There just was one little problem. My parents. How the hell was I going to go out if they grounded me? I didn't know what to do because this date with Luke really was important. I was looking forward to it. He was the light in my life at the moment and I didn't want that to change. They were going to say no if I asked them. All I could do was sneak out of my bedroom window. But they were going to notice. They always said goodnight to me when they went to sleep. Oh, god, what was I going to do? Why did they have to do these things to me? Couldn't they just be happy I had someone in my life who liked me? And I liked him. And he had never done anything inappropriate, unfortunately. How was I going to fix this? What were my options? If I lied to them again I would never get my phone back. I decided to tell them the truth. I still had 4 hours to go until my date. I could convince them. So I went downstairs. Mom was in the kitchen preparing something that smelled delicious. Dad was reading his paper. This was my shot.
"Mom, Dad, I have to ask you something", I told them, a little insecure.
"Yes honey. What is it?" Mom asked nicely.
"I was wondering..."
"If it's about that punk kid, don't even try", Dad told me.
"But Dad, please, just hear me out okay?" I pleaded.
"Okay.."
"So, Luke called me this morning. And asked me out on a date. I know you don't approve of this. But I really want to go. This is the only dream I have had for so long and I want it to last. I want to go so I can never regret not going. And if you let me go I would be so grateful. Hell, I'll even do the dishes for the next 6 months! Just don't let me pass up on this opportunity. They'll be gone in a week or so on their tour and I'll probably never see them again. So you won't have to think of it again. I will be the student you always wanted me to be and I'll do everything you say. Just let me have this one little thing.. I'm begging you!" Wow, that was a lot to say to them. Did I really say I'd do the dishes for 6 months? I hope Luke was really worth this. But who was I kidding? Of course he was.
"Honey, we love you, but this guy isn't what you should be interested in.." Mom starts to tell me.
"I just really want to go Mom. This will probably turn out to be nothing but I'll have that at least."
"Why do you want this so bad?" Dad asked me.
"Because the guys in this band are my idols. They are so funny and down to earth. And I have had a crush on Luke ever since I saw his face. I want this shot to get to know him better so I can go on with my life", I told him firmly.
"Okay, you can go, on one condition", Dad starts to say.
"YESSS!!"
"That he'll come and meet us when he gets here", he continuous.
What? Luke has to meet them? Was he up for this? My Dad could be a real pain in the ass. But no boy had ever set foot in this house, ever. I wouldn't know how he dealt with guys who dated me.
"I'll ask him", I told Dad. "Thanks Daddy!" I hugged him real tight. He seemed to love it when I did that.
I ran upstairs to get my phone and dialed Luke's number. It rang a lot of times. In the end no one answered. I didn't get it. So I tried again. Again no one. I decided to put my phone away and listen to a bit of music. He'd call back later. I hope he did it before coming over. So I could at least warn him what was coming. I doubted he'd like meeting my parents, but it was the only way. I was going on another date with Luke! I was really happy. I was so happy my parents had said yes to this. I knew honesty was the best policy. Yes, like the saying. But it really always worked out for me.
After a while I took a shower. That should relax me. The shower was really hot. I liked it that way. I washed my hair so it wouldn't look greasy on my date. I blew dried it and put some curls in it. I liked it that way. It made me look a little bit older. It was fun to do this. I put on some make up but not to much. I knew he didn't like make up all that much. He liked girls without it a lot more. So I did a bit of eyeliner and mascara. It made my eyes look bigger and it was so nice. I decided to put on a dress for him. He'd only seen me in my casual dress up but never date dress up. The dress I chose was a white one with flowers on it. It looked really nice on me and was bubbly. Just the way I am. It represented me so well. After doing all of that I checked my phone again. Still no text or call from Luke. He must have it on vibrate. It was already 10 to 7. He would be here in 10 minutes! I hadn't realized I had wasted that much time on showering and doing my make up. It took longer than I'd expected. I rushed downstairs and my parents were sitting in front of TV. They were watching Cupcake Wars. Normally I'd join in, but I was too nervous. It was now 5 to 7 and I was running around the house like a lunatic. It was so stupid to be nervous for a guy I had already hung out with, but this was a real, proper date. The doorbell rang. I ran to the door and opened it to see Luke standing outside with a bouquet of flowers. It were red roses.
"For my beautiful young lady", he said while giving them to me.
I felt I was blushing. It was so nice for him to do this. I liked this a lot. I almost forgot the only thing we had left to do.
"Uhm, didn't you get my texts or calls?" I asked him.
"No why.." he asked me nervously.
"There's one condition on me going on a date with you. My parents want to meet you", I told him keeping my eyes averted.
"Uhm, okay I guess. Anything to take you out." I lifted my head and saw him smiling at me. It was so nice to see him in this way.
"Come in then." I told him.

Luke's POV
I walked into her house. If this was what it took to take her on a date I would do it. But I must admit I was terrified to meet her Dad. He had been so judgmental of me when he didn't even knew me so I hope I made a good impression on him this time.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Henderson", I told them as politely as I could.
"Hello Mr. Hemmings", her dad told me.
He was eyeing me. I was scared of that man.
"So what are you and my girl doing tonight?" he asked me.
"Well, sir, it's a surprise. I want it to stay that way", I told him watching my shoes.
"Oh, is that right. What time do you plan on taking her back here?" he asks me.
"By midnight sir, if that's okay with you?"
"That's okay. You can leave now", he told us. "But if you hurt a hair on her head I will find you."
Okay I was almost shaking. Did he really just say that or did I imagine it? I looked over to Christina and saw her smiling nervously. She nodded and I knew he had really said that. Wow, this man was really protective. I'd better be going if I want her home back on time. We said our goodbyes and went over to my car.
"Here you go", I told her opening the car door.
"Oh look who's being a gentleman!" she laughed.
She got in and I did the same. As we sat in the car I couldn't help but stare at her. She looked so beautiful. Even more than the last time I saw her. If that was even possible. She was wearing this white dress with flowers on it and it drove me crazy. My feelings were all over the place. Her hair was curled neatly and I liked that on her. The curls made her more playful. And then there was the make up. Or should I say the lack of it. I never liked too much make up on a girl and she did just that. Not a lot of make up, just a bit of eyeliner and mascara. And she looked incredible. She had never been more beautiful. I really did like her. She wasn't wearing heels but sandals. And really nice ones at that. She really had a good sense of style. She was bubbly, just like her dress.
"So, what is this surprise?" she asked me while looking at me. "And why aren't we driving there yet?"
"Oh, sorry. And I'm not telling you", I told her with a wink.
I started the engine and drove off with her beside me. I wish we could drive into the sunset like in all those sappy movies girls liked. And I must admit, I liked them too.
"I hope you like what I have planned for us", I told her while giving her a nervous smile.
"I always like what you do Luke, don't forget that", she told me with a strange voice. It was almost a whisper.
"You really are something, aren't you?" I asked her.
"Oh, do you think?" she asked me while searching for my eyes.
I couldn't take my eyes off the road to look at her because I knew I wouldn't be able to tear them away from her ever again. That is what she did to me.
"Yes, I do think that."
I pulled into a parking lot and got out with her.
"We're walking from here", I told her while taking her hand in mine.
She was a bit surprised by my gesture but she didn't pull away. We walked like this for a long time until Central Park was in sight. The sun had already gone down by now and that was my plan. She really had to like the lights. We walked into the place and it was all dark.
"You want me to see darkness?" she asked me confused.
I switched the lights on and watched her gasp for air.
"Luke, this is amazing!" she shouted.

Christina's POV
"Luke, this is amazing!" I shouted.
This was so beautiful. All the lights, it looked like the stars. But you could never see the stars in New York because of the buildings and pollution. It felt like a movie scene. Wait, this was a movie scene. I had seen this before. But where?
"So you like it?" he asked me, still holding my hand.
"Of course!" I shouted again.
"Oh, I am very pleased to hear that!" he exclaimed.
I knew where I had seen this before!
"This is that scene from 17 again, isn't it?!" I yelled.
"How did you know?" he asked me in confusion.
"I love that movie! And that scene!" I told him while facing him.
He looked so beautiful in his jeans and shirt. He looked me straight in the eyes and his hand never left mine.
"I am glad to hear that. That means the world to me. Now lets eat!"
He pulled me over to a picnic table and we sat down across from each other. He had a whole picnic basket there. It looked delicious. He really had gone all out for this one too. If this was how Luke Hemmings dated I didn't want to stop. EVER. No boy could ever top what he had done to me for these past 2 dates. He was wonderful. He made me a sandwich and gave it to me.
"For the most beautiful girl in the world", he said while handing it to me.
I was blushing so hard he had to have seen it. I couldn't help myself around him. There was something about him that made me be myself and lose all of the bullshit going on in my life.
"I love it when you blush", he told me while leaning over the table.
His hand caressed my cheek with his thumb and I leaned in to it. I loved the way this felt. It was such an intimate gesture. He was so amazing. His touch sent shivers down my spine. It made me want more and more of it. And that all came from that little touch on my cheek. I was totally lost for words. I was crazy for this guys and not because he was Luke Hemmings. It was because of the boy behind it. He made me see how wonderful he could be and I loved that. I wish we could stay like this forever. This was the best feeling in the world.
