Chapter 26

Luke's POV

"Man! This is so cool!" I heard Michael shout from the other room.

I was just sitting in my room because I was a bit sad. I missed Christina a lot. But I had to get out of this funk. I had been a week since I had been gone and everything here was so cool. We did a lot of recording and a lot of shows. We were even planning a tour. That made me so happy. I had something to focus on. In the week that had gone by me and Chris had talked a lot. We had skyped and called every night. I was a lot earlier here so she had to do it at night. But we were always happy to see each other. It was different from touching each other and knowing she was with me, but it made up for all of that, even if it was just a little bit. I facetimed her too at spontaneous moments. She loved when I did that.

"What is?" I shouted back.

"You NEED to see this!" is the only reply I got.

I walked into the rehearsal room. Michael was standing there with a new guitar. And it was a beauty. He was in love with it. I could tell. I am the same whenever I get something new to play with.

"You want to touch it?" he asked me with a suggestive look.

"Man, it's yours. Plus, you're naked. That's just yuk. I can't touch that guitar now that it has touched you balls", I told him with a disgusted look.

We all liked to rehearse naked when we were alone. But playing together naked was one thing. Touching a guitar or drum kit that's still hanging in front of your balls was something else. But Mikey didn't seem to understand that.

"Aww! Lukey's upset now?" he screamed.

"IS MY LUKEY UPSET????" I heard Calum scream from the living room.

I heard him running towards us and when he came round the corner he seemed exhausted from that little bit of running.

"Do you need a hug?" he asked me.

"I'm fine Calum. Seriously. Michael was being a dick", I told him with a smile.

"You'll see her soon." Was all he said while he left the room.

They all knew how much I was hurting. To be this far away from a girl was devastating. But they understood and she did too. I needed to be here for my career and to do something I really loved. And that was playing music and making people happy. Even if that meant me being a little less happy. But this was all going to end soon. She would be by my side. That was all I could ever hope for.

Christina's POV

It had been a week since Luke left. We had skyped a lot and talked a lot. That was good. But we were both very busy at the moment. I was organizing the dance things we had to do. And it was taking up a lot of time. And we had finals. So I would be done with school in like a week or so. That left me a lot of time to rehearse my routine. This was going to be awesome. This week we had to start with dancing out in the streets. I was pumped. And to be honest it took my thoughts of Luke away for a bit. Every time I got home I'd start crying over him. But that was reserved for nights only. During the day I was busy enough to forget a little. And that was good. Because I didn't want to feel my heart breaking all the time. It was bad enough it had to happen every night. Skyping with Luke had only made things worse because I had to say goodbye to him every single night. And I didn't want to. Neither did he. But it was better than not seeing him at all. That was worse. But I had to focus on the things that were happening right now. And forget about things I couldn't have. And about things like: 'How many girls are throwing themselves at Luke's feet at the moment?' and 'Is he responding to them?' Those killed me everytime.

"Chris? Are you paying any attention?" Rachel asked me for the fifth time today.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. You were saying?"

"Mom and Dad really want to meet you like this week. And they want to set you up in an appartment of your own. I know how much you hate living with you adoptive parents right now. Have they improved at all?"

"No, not really. I tried talking to them but they just keep saying the same things. And I can't handle it. I need to get over this, but it's so damn hard. And being in the same space as them all the time makes me go crazy. And now it's even worse. They know my real parents want to talk to me so they are scared of losing me. But to be honest, they already lost me. They waited to damn long to tell me!"

I was losing control again. I always did that whenever it came to my real parents and my adoptive parents. I was just still so mad they didn't tell me until they really had to. I have the right to know who my real parents are.

"Yeah.. So do you want to meet them like tomorrow?"

"Why not? I need to meet them at least once huh? And better soon than later. And I know how much they want to meet me so", was my reply.

"Yay! I'm going to call them right away!"

"Okay! I need to go to Jamie anyway!"

She hugged me really tight and then she skipped off. Yeah, she was skipping. I loved having a sister. But I loved having a brother too. And speaking of him, I hadn't talked to him at all since I knew about this. Mainly because I had no idea if he had any idea about this. It was all so messy. I had to call Jesse like on of these days.

And like he read my mind my phone went of.

"Hey sis!" Jesse said enthousiasticly.

"Hey bro, how've you been?" I asked him to start a conversation.

"I've been good! What about you, little miss 'dating a rockstar'?"

"Good! I miss him though.."

"Listen, I want to see you! It's been way too long", he told me with a bit of worry in his voice.

"Yeah we have to talk about a lot of things."

"D'you want me to swing by mom and dad's later?"

"Yeah, just come up to my room. I have dance class right now, so like around 7?"

"7 it is!"

"Bye Jess."

"Bye Chris."

And that was it. It was so easy to talk to him. But would it still be the same if he knew we weren't even related? I had no idea. Jesse was a nice guy. Any girl would be lucky to date him, but for some reason he didn't date that much. He always seemed to pick out the worst girls ever. And I let him know he should look for some other type of girl. Since that day he had a hard time dating. I guess it was hard for him to change his habit.

"Are you ready to do this?" Jamie asked as he walked up to me.

"Yeah! I'm really stoked! When are we going out in the streets?"

"The day after tomorrow! And Andy is going with us to film the whole thing! I'm really looking forward to it."

"Yeah me too! This is so exciting!"

We started our routine to Conor Maynard's song. It was R U Crazy?. I loved that song so much because it was so dancable. But all Conor's songs were. And he seemed like a nice enough guy. We danced like we were one. That was one of the things I really loved about dancing with Jamie. He was so easy breezy. And that made things go so smoothly. I really enjoyed this.

After an hour or two I went home. Jesse would be there any minute and I didn't want to get caught up in a conversation with my parents. They were always asking for a conversation but I really didn't feel like talking to them. Especially not when I was sweaty and exhausted. I knew I was going to insult them. And after all they did they didn't really deserve that. But I couldn't help myself. I was just so mad at them.

I snuck into the house and went upstairs. They had no idea. I still had half an hour until Jesse would be here. This was a good time to hit the showers. I was happy the bathroom was like right next door. So I didn't have to pass my parents. I left my phone in my bedroom. There really was no one who could call me at this hour. And it was not like I could answer when I was showering.

After a good shower I headed back to my room and Jesse was already sitting on the edge of my bed. At least I was decent.

"We have some things to sort out I guess.." he said while patting the spot next to him, motioning me to come sit next to him.

"Do you know?"

"Yeah, they just told me all about it.." he told me with a sympathetic smile. "So you're not really my sister?"

"I guess not.. Does that mean things have to change?"

"Naah! You're still my sister. Maybe not through blood. But family is about a lot more than blood relations. We'll always be siblings." He was so reassuring.

"I'm glad you're saying that. I really feel aweful about all of this."

"I know you do. And I know you're really bad about this. But mom and dad really don't want you to feel this bad. They want to help you and talk to you."

"I know.. But I can't, you know? I'm afraid I'll snap on them and just like insult them. I need some time to think this over."

"Yeah. I can relate to that. But just tell me that, in time, you'll at least give them a chance?"

"I will. Just not now. I need space. And time away from them.."

"You want to come crash at my place?"

"You live way too far from all the places I need to be!"

"You lived with a rockstar for like a whole week on the other side of town and you call my place, which is like a mile away from here, too far? You didn't complain when you could sleep at his place did you?" he laughed.

He was right though. I didn't complain when Luke asked me to stay at his hotel. And that had been all across town. It was so hard to deny that. But Luke just had that kind of power over me. If he said: 'jump'. I'd ask: 'How high?'

"Yeah, but I guess I'm fine right now. I'm looking into getting a place of my own anyways."

"Seriously?" and his jaw just dropped. "And how do you plan on paying for it?"

"I'm meeting my real parents tomorrow and they have an appartment ready for me."

"You haven't even met the people!" I could tell he was getting mad at me.

"I know.. But I know my sister and she's a really nice girl."

"I guess you can do whatever you want now." Wow, that was a low blow and that coming from my brother.

"Jesse, I love you okay? Don't be mad at me for stupid things."

"I love you too, but just don't forget about our parents okay? They'll be devastated when you move away."

"I was planning on moving away anyways. I got into UCLA. And I seriously want a change of view for once."

"Wow, congrats! I always thought you were going to go to NYU? What changed your mind?"

"All of this I guess. I want to go somewhere they don't know me." And that was true. I wanted to live a life with new people. I loved meeting people. I had seen it all around here. I really loved NYC but it was getting a bit boring. I knew that whenever I got back from L.A. I would truely appreciate NYC again. And I wanted a change of weather. The weather was so good around there. Like all year round.

"Hey, sis. I have to go now okay?" he told me with a faint smile.

"Yeah okay, I'm sorry for making you mad okay?"

"It's all good between us. Just know that if anything ever goes wrong you can always call me."

"I will!"

We hugged for a real long time. He was just such a softie. He loved me, I knew that for sure. And he just wanted to protect me from people I didn't know. And he wanted to keep our family together. But to be honest, it would never ever be the same again.

I watched him walk out my room and just stared at the ceiling. I decided to look at my phone for once. It had been an hour since I checked it. And there it was. A million texts from Sarah. And she sent me a picture. Also Twitter was burning red. There was somthing going on. I opened the texts from Sarah. And that was it. There was a picture of Luke. He was looking really good. But what was next to him was not that good. Next to him was a beautiful girl around our age and he had his arm draped across her shoulder. I checked Twitter too. It was trending. Apparently they were on a 'night out'. They met at a club and now they were on a date. There was also an article that said: 'Does Luke Hemmings have a girl in each city?'

I was crying even without noticing. What was happening? What was Luke doing? Why?

"We need to talk", was all I send in a text to him.
